The Colts waived S Joe Lefeged and now they signed S Larry Asante to the 53-man roster. Larry Asante was a 5th round pick by the Cleveland Browns back in 2010 and played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2010-2011. He was signed to a future/reserve contract back in 2012 for the Colts and played in the 2013 Preseason for the Colts. In the Preseason, he had a 48-yard interception for a touchdown in Week 3 and had 15 total tackles in the preseason finale. In the Regular season as a Buccaneer, he had 14 total tackles and a four-yard interception.

I'm not sure if Lefeged is allowed to be on the a Practice Squad because I think there is a rule that a player cannot be on the PS after being in the NFL so many years. Lefeged was a fill-in starter in 2011 and was a fill-in starter for Zbitowski in 2012. He had 2 interceptions and 34 total tackles in 2011 and 31 total tackles in 2012 and had only one tackles in four games this year. Lefeged has had off the field issues and that is most likely why he was waived plus Asante has the upper edge after a strong preseason performance.
