  1. I think he will try to stay out of trouble by being smart and not throwing around his body like he used to. If you saw the SD game, you could see that, and I think he simply has to adjust his game that way. I can already hear ppl, NO, THATS not the way he plays, he's all out, all the time. Well, just watch the SD vs. PATS game, and you'll see what I'm talking about.

I wish he would have learned that as a Colt.

Good for him. I haven't seen the Chargers play yet this season.

  2. Reviewed the game twice. Melvin Bullitt was atrocious on multiple occasions. I don't get it, I thought he was one of our better players. Also, his tackling leaves a LOT to be desired. I was watching some of the San Diego game and did see Bob Sanders cut a few people down with his patented knee erasers. Yes, he also got an unfavorable assignment in trying to keep Gronkowski and the other TE from catching TD's but he is too short to do anything about that.

How many weeks do think he will play though?

  3. To me, the biggest difference between the '02 Bucs and '11 Colts is the quality at DT. Booger McFarland and Warren Sapp > Mookie Johnson and Fili Moala. And let's not forget we've been getting a healthy dose of Eric Foster at DT on run plays. More pressure up the middle would help Freeney and Mathis as well as our DBs. That the front office hasn't adequately addressed the DT position is criminal, IMO.

Polian had a run of awful luck at the DT position for a while. Simon, Pitcock, Booger, Johnson #1, etc...

  4. Thomas over both, lacey is not good on the outside and tryon is weak... thomas is the better cover corner out of both of them and more physical... compared to kelvin hayden he's a true corner.

I like what I saw out of Thomas in preseason. He went IR after about the first OTA last year, so he could be fragile, but I want to see what he can do. Can't be worse than Lacey and I remember him being good against the run.

  5. Small consolation, but good point. I'll happily endorse any positive thoughts that can be drawn from this season.

I will too. We are going to have to start going the Titans route and start lauding things like "almost wins" or the Jags route like "375". Find little victories here and there (although we will not come close to 375, it was just an example).

This season is the first non-SB or bust year in a long while.

  6. If Peyton Manning were in Tampa under Dungy.........

They would be building statues and library's for the both of them for how many RINGS they would have produced.

I have been ladying all this time ( five years now)about a "running game" and ...... A * DEFENSE.

    Sigh...

See you all at the draft.

This season will get WAY worse before it gets better.

SO, you are saying that if you can run well, pass well, and play great D, that is the key to winning? That is what every team is TRYING to do.

You are right though, we can do none of those well. Our run game is improving, though. And we will have a very high draft pick :)

  7. I know I'm nuts but I used to be a compulsive "remote thrower".

I've just found that perception is everything. You're gonna get the same result anyway. Why not be in a better mood and assume the best?

Its MUCH better than being depressed and angry over dwelling on the worst-case scenario.

It would, of course, be different if we actually had any chance of helping with or affecting the outcome.

I kinda sound like the guy on Saturday Night Live who looked in the mirror and told himself how great things were.

    Stuart Smalley?

  8. When you say absolute studs, I'm assuming you're referring to non-QB's right? Like others have said, this is a QB driven league. If there were no questions about Rodgers coming out of college, if there weren't aspects of his game that teams CLEARLY felt needed working on, if there was even a single team in the league who felt he was ready to start right away then he would have been drafted and put in the starting lineup right away. The fact he was not drafted higher than he was and made an immediate starter (and the fact that Alex Smith was) makes it seem to me that he had areas of his game that needed to be polished before he would be ready to start in the pro game. That is not the case with Luck. I've never watched a game but there's not a single "expert" mentioning any area of his game that might be of concern that would require him to need to be "groomed" before being made a full time starter.

Bottom line, apparently there wasn't a single team who felt Rodgers was ready to start from day one. Conversely, there's not a single team who thinks that Luck can't start week one.

Yes, I meant non-QBs. Guys like Ware and White.

I just think we have shown how important our QB position is. We take Luck if he's there.

  9. Last year the Colts defense averaged:

    341.5 yards per game

    24.25 points per game

    127 rush yards per game

This year with a 2 game sample:

    343.5 yards per game

    30.5 points per game

    136.5 rush yards per game

A case of same poo different pile, or is the sample size for this year still to small?

Same poo. We still haven't played Chris Johnson or MJD (twice!!!)...or Turner or Mendenhall or Benson or Rice...etc...

This is going to be a long season.

  10. 6-Everyone compares the situation of Manning grooming Luck to Montana/Young and Favre/Rodgers. This goes back to my 3rd point...Young wasn't even drafted by San Fran, they acquired him from Tampa Bay where he was riding the bench. Rodgers was a late first round pick, not a top 5 pick. Neither of these teams went out and spent the #1 pick on the top QB prospect of the draft and then spent the next few years developing them. These were both guys that had areas of concern and aspects of their game that needed to be polished before they would be considered ready to be a full time starter in the NFL.

There were some absolute studs in the first round in 2005. Of course hindsight is 20/20, but Rodgers could warrant 1st overall pick in a redo. He is now Brady/Manning class, definitely if he keeps up his level of play. GB spent its 1st pick on the future of the QB position when they still had Favre.

We should take a stud QB with our 1st pick if there is one available.
