  1. Let's trade Brown and Hughes for Tom Brady!

Just wanted to fantasy armchair (workchair?) GM for a minute.

    OK, back to reality.

Orton is OK, let's not mortgage our future on a decent QB to fix the year our all world QB is out.

  2. Updates from Jim

I am lost as to why Irsay speaks on Twitter in 12 year old girl language.

  3. I was just wondering what coach caldwells duties will be when peyton is back

on the sideline with headset firmly on head running the show. do you think peyton will let

hold and throw the red challenge when peyton tells him to. or just ask him to stay out of the way.

    paytin play many football time.

  4. haha

Can't top that, so I'll say in somewhat seriousness that while I'm sure most of him wants desperately to get back on the field as fast as possible, I have a feeling that his neck is quite happy that by next September Costanzo will be a vet at LT, and Igalana will likely be ensconced at RT. Perhaps other improvements to follow (I hope).

Am I the only one who cringed through most of last season, wondering how Peyton kept getting back up off the ground game after game. There's a real good chance that with a better o-line he wouldn't have needed this summers two surgeries in the first place. With the long-term interests of the Colts in mind, maybe it's not so bad that Collins is the new olines practice dummy.

It was awful. Could you imagine Peyton's production with a good line? Watching the Pats last night, it was no wonder that Brady threw for 895 yards. Yes, Brady is VERY good, but he gets some time back there to go through his progressions and go to the right place. On a related note, I hope their center is OK.

  5. Lets just say that we really do end up doing bad this season and Manning doesnt make a appearance this year. Do you think that Polian and Irsay will really take a High Round QB in the draft or do you see them taking more of a high end Defensive player? I was thinking about it at work. Obviously next years draft we need to get a realiable/ potential starter for this team, but we also know how the polians work by trying to take "no name" players and make them work for their name in the NFL. So what if they attempt to take a Qb in the second or Third...would this hurt us or help us? Just a thought, what do you guys think?

Ah, robbing company time I see.

    haha

  6. As a Texans fan I look at it a little different .......two out of the last three. I think the tide is turning,PM or no PM.

Eh, one of the last two. :D

Until I see you guys beat us with Peyton when its close, or keep a 17 point lead against him...then I'll believe.

Like I said in my prediction, never underestimate Houston's ability to beat themselves.

  7. It is trolls like this that are the inspiration for the 'new member' rule. Let us not forget this when people complain about being so restricted. If it were not for the rule, this guy and a hundred like him would join the forum just to rub our nose in poo with substance free trolling.

Eh, I say big deal. They have beaten us 3 out of 19 meetings. And in one of those, we went on to win the Super Bowl.

    Let 'em have yesterday.

  8. then why dont they cut him? I would much rather see a first round pick be cut (and become an official bust) then be on special teams and a bench warmer. it would make more sense (imo) if they played him with hope he has a good year and gain some later round draft pick trade value.

I was hoping he would get cut. He has little value. On the street or on special teams.

Look, I really think he looks good with some space, we just can't give him that space. I am sure he would get snatched up immediately, and probably look good (with the Pats, of course ;)).

  9. Will Garrard be an improvement on Collins?

One of the issues with Collins seems to be that he has only had two weeks to learn the playbook and work with the receivers.

Bringing in a new quarterback every time we lose is not going to help with that particular problem. Their quarterback will always be in the process of learning the playbook......

Adequate, mobile, younger, played in our division...bring him in!

  10. By week 4 i doubt you will hear anything about peyton other than when will he be back.

You won't hear anything about that until Wednesday before he comes back!

And, I wonder if we are out of playoff contention, if they would bring him back at all.

  11. Use that to hit Garcon with the big play downfield. BAM! Now that is big time football.

Garcon will make a circus catch, it will be exciting!

Then, he will drop a wide open 15 yard out to end the drive. Everything will feel familiar.

  12. Given our teams past handling of injuries I have a feeling that Peyton is going to be out a long time.

I would not be surprised by week 4 if he is not on IR.

    Unfortunately, I wouldn't be surprised.

But I will be watching rooting and going no matter who is under center!

    GO :coltslogo:

  13. OFFENSIVE LINE

The main thing to look for is; who the heck is it going to be. Will Diem stay at RG or will he move back to RT? Early indications are staying Diem is staying at RG. Most people will be looking for the individual players but try to watch how they perform as a unit. For example on pass blocking, do the guards leave their zones to double with the center or tackle or do they effectively pass off a player to stay in their zone. Also on running plays. It seemed during the preseason the Colts experimented with some man blocking on running plays and zone on passing plays. Will that continue. I expect some bumps but with the exception of one player, I think the Colts have the makings of a very good oline.

    COACHING

Mainly just watch the game planning on both sides of the ball. I don't expect the D to be that much different. The biggest difference on O is, I do not think the Colts will run the no huddle as much like they do with Manning. But I expect the plays they call based on down and distance to be about the same as normal, except a few more runs on 2nd down. When the Colts and Manning started doing that last year (even if 1st down run got no yardage) the Colts started running the ball really well. On the D side, as mentioned before, watch the different packages used based on down and distance and then how those are adjusted based on what is happening in the games.

These are the two area I will really be watching. Did we fix the O-line? How does AC look? Is Link going to prove to be the umm, weak link? Can we run the frickin' ball?

And coaching...do we recognize that this is a different Colts team than we have with Manning? It will be fun to watch the possibility of a different style of ball.

I am so excited. Heck, I'm excited for kickoff tonight!!!
