  1. it's unfortunate that injuries have hit the o-line early and often. it has certainly has compromised their ability to function as a unit. had the first five been intact all through camp and preseason i think they would have been significantly better on sunday.

Injuries and the fact that they suck have both contributed.

  2. We tried to establish the run game early in the Bears game. To avoid being laughed off the field we put the ball in the air. The only time we gained positive yards in the run game is when we ran draws and delayed handoffs. Peyton did not establish the run after Edge left. Our run game was so bad our playaction attack was no longer effective. Harrison will be a hall of famer because of EDGE and our ability to use play action. However this is not a threat any longer whatsoever!!

So cut it out with the run game in regards to Sunday. We haven't ran the ball well against poor defenses, so why would think we would go into Soldier field thinking we would be effective against the BEARS defense honestly. Until we have a draft in which we draft some stud lineman and make a trade or two for some depth at the position, this is Andrew's Lucks show totally.

I disagree with you. After Edge left we could still run the ball. It was the departure of our two Guards (that have been very missed) that destroyed it. Tarrik's departure didn't help either.

You are forgetting that Addai was the first ever 1000 yard rusher to never start a single game (in the regular season, 2006).

Harrison will be a hall of famer because he could get open, had good hands, stayed healthy (until 2007) and had a great QB getting him the ball.

When Peyton was Super Bowl MVP - I think he was honored as that based on his body of work. We closed out the deal with the run and look at the stat sheet:

    Addai: 17 for 77 4.1

    Rhodes: 21 for 113 5.4 TD

    Uhhh, against the Bears.

We could run the ball. I think the formula is a balanced attack, not airing it out 40-50 times a game.

When you air it out you get let down in the post season too.

  3. All of the above.

I watched Jeff some, he did OK. As in so-so.

He didn't look particularly strong out there and they couldn't run the ball for anything.

But GB is a pass oriented (heavily) offense and Jeff brings smarts, leadership, experience and knows blocking assignments backwards and forwards.

  4. After the draft I was disappointed the Colts didn't go o-line early, even though we did get very good TEs. But with the money coming off the books, they can get some stronger o-line free agents and go to the draft for some as well. The biggest weaknesses on this team are still o-line, DBs and d-line in that order.

Without any TE's on the roster...we did well in the draft.

  5. I agree we're going to be fine but I'm tired of that Manning Luck comparison. It's a good piece of trivia but really meaningless, right?

The implication is that we'll be contenders next season based on that. Or that he'll have a Manning career.

Again, nice trivia. But no bearing on Luck's future or the Colts success.

It's good trivia, but useful to show that even Peyton had a learning curve.

(Or that his team was bad in the beginning)

I keep seeing headlines about Luck's debut - they don't mention other Colts. If Luck has a pocket and run game - it is a different story. I think he could have kept up in a shootout under those conditions.
