  1. Adrian Peterson through his first 8* seasons: 10,190 yards

Emmitt Smith through his first 8 seasons: 11,234 yards

*Includes 2014 season where he played just one game and had 75 yards.

So if you wanted to go by first 7 seasons since Peterson did not participate in 15 games last year.

Adrian Peterson through 7 seasons: 10,115 yards

Emmitt Smith through 7 seasons: 10,160 yards

Peterson has a career 98 yards per game.  So if was able to average around rest of his career, he can surpass Emmitt in six more seasons, and would be about 36 years old when he breaks it.  Having a year off has probably helped him rest his legs, so I'm predicting he'll have a fantastic 2015 season.  I don't know if he could keep it up for 6 more years though at that high level of production.

  2. I'm thinking Mariota has a chance to be a threat if their receiving corps and running game is good this year.  David Cobb might have an impact on the run game, and players like Dorial Green-Beckham and Harry Douglas coming in this year can help the passing attack.  Returning players like Wright and Walker will also dictate whether or not Mariota becomes a threat to us.  Bortles has players that have proven they can have an impact on the offense,  and I think Bishop Sankey can bounce back from last year and be effective.

Blake Bortles doesn't have a lot to work with as far as experience goes.  Marquise Lee, Allen Hurns, Allen Robinson have all played just one season.  Arrelious Benn hasn't been playing in the NFL since 2012, and Rashad Greene is a rookie.  Marcedes Lewis is the real only veteran presence there, Julius Thomas has had two great seasons the last two years but was also playing with Manning, and defenses also had to cover players like Thomas and Sanders.  The running back group lacks starter experience as well. Robinson did well in the 13 games he played last year, but he can't handle the whole workload.  Yeldon is a rookie so we don't know yet how he is going to play in the NFL.  Gerhart showed he can handle the majority of the snaps at running back.  Pierce has been declining in recent years and has had off-the-field problems.

So for right now: Mariota has the chance to become a threat, Bortles' team needs more time to develop and prove their ability before he becomes an actual threat.

  3. Rice was very productive when he went to the Raiders. He was not at an elite level but still very productive. Reggie could easily be the same assuming the injuries don't continue which is always risky with any player over 35. I get that Colts fans don't want to see him in another uniform as I felt that way about Wilfork but players should play as long as they absolutely can and I am happy Vince is with a team where he can be successful even if in a limited role. I think Reggie could be good for the Pats but I am not sure of his fit given he would be behind both Edelman and Amedola. His position is not a need but I could still see Bill brining him in on the cheap just for his leadership and limited contributions on the field.

I'm sure he has a little left to give to a football team, but the injuries I think are the most concerning.  Had he not torn his ACL at 35 and injure his shoulder at 36, I think he would be a good option for any team.  That one game last year was hard to watch when Reggie dropped like 4 passes in the same game.  If Reggie would like the leadership role and be a team's #5 WR then that's okay, I just don't know if he would be able to agree with the idea of not being a main option as a WR anymore.  If he joined the Pats, he would be behind Edleman, Amendola, LaFell, and most likely Dobson/Gibson/Tyms (whoever the #4 WR will be), that would be an okay situation given he would not have to risk injury.  I'm still going to support him no matter where he goes, I would just hate to see him injure himself again trying to play another year.

  4. He kind of reminds me of Rice at the end of his career.  He just didn't want to quit.  He wanted to keep playing and playing.  Of course, Rice was 43 then and Wayne is now 36, but the leg injury and shoulder injury is a sign that football is just too abusive for his body now.  He will most likely be last on a team's depth chart and is risking another injury that could cause problems in years to come.  Reggie is a legend among NFL and Colts fans, and should retire now.

I just could not imagine any other team's fans chanting REGGIE REGGIE REGGIE.

  6. I'm thinking Hoyer will start at QB in the beginning in the season and it is his job to lose.  If he starts slipping they'll insert Mallett in as starter and see how the offense goes with him in.  Hoyer needs to fix that TD-INT ratio and raise his completion %.  Mallett  (27) is only two years younger than Hoyer (29, Hoyer turns 30 in October), so Mallett needs to do everything he can and get better and get on the field.

  7. 1. Unitas - His stats are not better than all other QBs, but he still put up 40,000 yards in his career at a time when passing did not dominate the game.  He paved the way for the QB position.

    2. Marino - Never got the Super Bowl ring but was a fantastic QB.  Set records that seemed impossible for his era.

    3. Montana - He has the rings but Marino was the better passer.

    4. P. Manning - Only has one ring but has been a stellar QB.

    5. Elway - Won 2 SBs and was a really good QB, had some Super Bowl problems in the earlier years but fought to make it make in the late 90s.

    6. Favre - Strong arm QB and was able to play a high level for numerous years.

    7. Staubach - Captain Comeback, you could never count him out of the game.

    8. Moon - Moon, in my opinion, does not get enough recognition.

    9. Fouts - Another great QB that was not not able to grab a Super Bowl victory.

    10. Graham - It's hard to leave Otto off the list.  Went to 10 straight NFL Championships with the Browns and won 7 of them.  Played in the NBL (which later merged with the BAA to form the NBA) for one season with the Rochester Royals and won a championship.

  8. The Bucs have claimed TE Tim Wright off waivers from the Patriots.  Wright played for the Bucs in 2013 and was traded to the Patriots.  Wright had 5 TD grabs in 2013 with the Bucs and 6 TDs grabs with the Patriots in 2014.

  9. The third player this off-season that has retired for the 49ers. Davis was Pick #11 back in 2010 for the 49ers.  Injured a lot this past year.  He started and played in 70 games over a 5-year span.  He is currently 25 years old.  The 49ers have had three players retire at age 30 or younger.
