  1. I noticed that we signed several players to a "reserve / future contract". Running back Alvester Alexander, guard Justin Anderson, cornerback Marshay Green, quarterback Chandler Harnish, tight end Dominique Jones, linebacker Jake Killeen, linebacker Shawn Loiseau, running back Davin Meggett, linebacker Monte Simmons, and offensive tackle Lee Ziemba are now all members of the Colts. Did we sign the offesive lineman from the Toronto Argonauts? I cant recall his name. I believe he graduated from USC a couple years ago and had suffered a heart attack. Is it true that players who sign a future contract only receive league minimum salary and no signing bonuses?

Nope, Armond Armstead signed with the Pats. It was not a futures contract either... it was for 3 years and a and just under 2 mil I think.

  2. I want a  tall wide receiver so Luck can throw it up and let them pull it in when we are in the red zone.

Not that I agree or anything but a guy who can do just that AND would come cheap is Ramses Barden. Speculating here but we could sign him to a 2 year deal with the 2nd year optional. If we even sniff a WR in Fa I hope it is for cheap and on the experimental side of things. We should bring back some guys from training camp and give them a go like Griff Whalen... he could be this era's Austin Collie... without as many injuries I hope.

  3. Per Rotoworld:

Impending free agent RT Gosder Cherilus "might not be" in the Lions' plans for 2013.

Detroit has 2011 first-round pick OT Riley Reiff waiting in the wings for a starting spot along the line, and veteran LT Jeff Backus is under contract for next season. The Lions are also well over the salary cap as it stands right now. Cherilus, 28, graded out as Pro Football Focus' No. 2 right tackle in the league in 2012, excelling as a pass blocker.

Should Grigs take this guy seriously if released?
  4. Ok, I have heard the talk on ESPN, PFT, etc. all the time about Jim being a "drunken so-and-so" or something of the like. I don't think that. He battled a painkiller addiction in the 90s, and reportedly has been clean for over 10 years. "Clean" can mean different things to different people. For EXAMPLE (emphasis), he may still have a drink now and then, but probably doesn't take pain pills anymore. But combined with recent videos of him, most notably the latest of him dancing with Pagano, as well as the picture below, makes me worry a bit. I don't think he has relapsed, nor do I think he's the drunk that his father was. That's where most of the "drunken so-and-so owner" talk comes from, people that remember his father and not Jim. But he tweeted this pic last night, and it was posted on Jim Rome's FB page. He certainly looks goofy (what's new?), but he also looks really thin. Maybe he's getting back into shape? But the past several years seem to have taken a toll on him. I don't pretend to know what it is (illness, relapse, etc.), but it does worry me as a fan. I hope he is ok, and this photo was just him being his typical eccentric self.

Any chance this photo is of him on New Year's Eve? If so then this is perfectly normal for most people who enjoy alcohol on occasion. However, the day things start to go south for him will be a sad sad SAD day. I enjoy his closeness to the community and fans.

  5. Didn't read through the whole thread but, if Chargers are trying to take TomTelesco from us(which could lead to the loss of Arians) I would want to ask Norv Turner to join us.

As an OC I think he would do well for us... I think he should shy away from any HC positions. I think he would get more praise helping a young QB learn to flourish in the NFL.

Also, his offensive schemes seem to create opportunities for the run game nicely. We could use some of that to give Luck every chance to drop his INTs and up his TDs.

  6. Fantasy football season kept me busy and away from the board. It feels good to be back and I just wanna say how good it feels to be a Colts fan right now!!

During the preseason, I was optimistic and said the Colts COULD finish 8-8. I stand here now a fan of a 11-5 team of young individuals with just the right helping of veteran leadership.

It pains me to think we could have been 12-4 if it weren't for Cecil Shorts waaaaay back in week 3 and could have possibly taken the division away from the Texans but, what's done is done and next year things will just get better!!

Now, we are heading into the PLAYOFFS!! I must be as optimistic as I was during the preseason so it goes without saying that we WILL NOT be a one and done team. We have had everything to believe in this season... why not this as well. KEEP BELIEVING COLTS FANS!!

  7. Someone posted about a cloumnist doing this to predict W-L records in the AFC South. Lets have some fun and make haikus about the game this sunday. No holds barred!!!

For anyone who might not know a haiku has three lines and does not need to rhyme. First line is 5 syllables. Second line is 7 syllables. Third line is 5 syllables. Here is an example:

    This is a haiku

It is a real good haiku

    So there you have it

    Annnnnnnd................... GO!
