  1. One of these two... Reggie Ragland or Mychal Kendricks? Early word is dealing Kendricks is a priority this offseason because he doesn't fit in Shwartz' 4-3 scheme. Ragland is not rumored to be available for trade at this time but, he also no longer is a clear fit for a team moving to a 4-3 scheme.

Just looking for some forum members to shed more light on these players as it would pertain to adding one(or both) to the roster. Upsides. Downsides. whatever you can cook up.

So let's look at our 2014 and 2015 draft and you tell me if he's a building block or a JAG. I accept incomplete as well. For those that don't know, JAG means just another guy.

    Mewhort

    Moncrief

    Dorsett

    Anderson

    Geathers

    Parry

    Good

    Include any I missed

Mewhort is a building block and he has a HUGE opportunity to prove it going into a contract year.

Moncrief CAN be a building block but he has to show up big in a contract year. If he is lack luster I am inclined to say he is JAG.

Dorsett is JAG with plenty of opportunities to change that in the coming seasons. I am not a fan but love being proved wrong when it comes to doubting players.

Anderson is a building block going into a contract year. DEs are gonna be thinned out giving him a chance to prove his worth. If he fails he is JAG.

Geathers is a building block for now but, who knows what free agency or the draft will bring. He could have to put up or shut up in his sophomore season.

Parry is a JAG. I like Parry but, I can't help but think he finds himself on the second string  once this defensive rebuild is under way.

Good is a JAG. Second string or worse as the right side of the offensive line gets much more needed attention.

No it doesn't.   He still has to sign a contract with you.   You can't trade for a guy that isn't under contract

Totally off the Ingram thing but this post got me wondering how teams are allowed to draft someone and trade them(for example; Eli Manning for Phillip Rivers) if they are indeed not "under contract". I hope someone can shed light on this for me. Probably just semantics but, it piqued my curiosity.

Melvin Ingram?   Really, It appears the Chargers are going to have a hard time signing him as I have read where he is the one with a real strong chance to hit FA.  The Chargers get our 1st. and we get our opportunity to sign him before FA.  Worse case we franchise him but we most likely sign him.  He is a proven stud ER.  We don't have to worry about a 1st. pick not panning out like so many have in the past.  He's about as close to a sure thing there is.  We have a high pick so I have to think it would be appealing to the Chargers.  I suppose we could sign him in FA but that's not a guarantee.  The trade guarantees he is with us.  Is this a crazy idea or does it have some merit?  What do you guys think?

I get that you are just throwing around ideas and that this is what helps make your point BUT, it isn't even possible. You see, we are still in season 2016 as far as the NFL is concerned and the trade deadline has long passed us by. When the new league year starts(March 9th) Ingram WILL be a FA and unable to be acquired through trade. Edit: Chargers could sign him before March 9th but, you get my point.

Posting is fun and I am excited for the offseason(its my favorite time of the year with so much speculation)but, I hope we can all learn from this and think it through before posting.

    Better luck next time.

I don't think it would be worth it to trade back, especially twice. If we were to trade back, I think you have to look at the chart first, and then you need to formulate offers on the team who wants the pick and how badly they want to move into your position. This is where you can get extra value, and is why it makes valuing a trade like that so difficult.

Someone shared with me a similar sentiment. What matters is actually having a team to trade with. compensation is a formulated conclusion... a trade partner is not.

  6. I know there are tons who are better at this than I would be so maybe you can help me out. Lets say Ballard trades down TWICE in the first round... somewhere between pick 25 and pick 32. What could we possibly have to work with? My first though was just a guess... 1-1st, 2-2nds, 2-3rds, 2-4ths, 1-5th, and 1-6th. Is this selling us short? I could see us getting maybe an addition 3rd but, I am unsure.

    Thanks in advance. :D

If Ballard is hired I really hope he recruits NT Dontari Poe to Indy to be their true NT this team has been lacking. Poe would free up everyone in the front 7 and would also provide some pass rush from the inside. Parry can spell him on occasion.

I'm pretty sure Berry will be brought back by KC. Poe we might have a shot at and it's the bigger need since Butler could play FS along with Adams.

Adams needs to be resigned first...

  8. I don't know about winners but I expect to see Arthur Jones gone. Eric Walden will either take a team friendly deal or be on a new team. Trent Cole... bye bye!  D'Qwell Jackson is an easy out at this point. Darius Butler could potentially be replaced in FA. Mike Adams won't be resigned. Frank Gore should be released so he can finish his career somewhere he can get a ring now. The bad news for Frank Gore is... there are no contenders who appear to be RB needy... especially OLD RB needy.

I haven't seen this posted yet. Irsay requested to interview Eliot Wolf.

Eliot Wolf just got a raise in pay to back out of the 49'ers hunt. He very well may get another one to back out of ours -OR- Packers say "Too rich for our blood" and let him go. I wonder if this was a strategic move on our part given the circumstances. Either way, the Packers lose...kinda.

Why would Kyle Shanahan take a lateral move to a new team?  If he doesn't get a head coaching gig, he'll stay in Atlanta where he's having great success

I am not saying he would. Just daydreaming like the OP was.

To go along with your line of thinking(which is totally accurate IMO) to get him to come to town to complete this dream scenario Gruden/Manning make him Assistant HC which could give Gruden some leeway to concentrate on spliting GM duties with Manning.

So pumped for Sunday, I haven't been this pumped for a preseason game in years. There are so many new faces, potential young gems to prove their worth.  I took Monday off ahahaha!!!

I tend to do this too when I am super pumped about something. Its so rewarding!

Highly annoying that we've heard/seen almost nothing on how Patrick Robinson has looked. Hes our one big FA signing this year and no one in the media is talking about him. You'd think he'd be getting talked about.

Been feeling this way as well. Hearing nothing is better than hearing he is tolering it up out there, right? :D

Cris Carter is the perfect example of a HOF athlete who wore out his welcome in Philly due to addiction & completely redefined his life & career in Minnesota. Thank you for that Solon. Yes, I know Buddy Ryan let Carter go. But, Cris did put his demons behind him eventually, which he deserves a lot of credit for.

I could be wrong, but I think the posting of Cris Carter's photo has to do with his "make sure you have a fall guy" advice at the rookie symposium a while back.

No biggie. Your point is valid, but I think you missed his maybe...

    Love ya.

With concussion symptoms that last that long I can't imagine how far he can continue on with his career. Especially at RB where you consistently get hit in and around your head. He seems to get pretty strong effects to the concussion.

Yeah. I don't think he is gonna be playing football much longer tbh.

  15. I don't know how team doctors go about their work, but I would imagine they are under a certain level of scrutiny to perform just like players.

Its gotta suck being a doctor and knowing your job hinges on how quickly a player recovers. No doubt in my mind that shortcuts are taken. I, for one, despise ANY doctor who pushes drugs at me and fails to discuss my other options.

Varga is a good dude for standing his ground. The Colts should learn something from this, but I bet they don't.
