I'm with you, but both are in their contract years. So having them makes sense. Both have relatively high salaries too. $5.9m + $3.3m with little, to no, dead cap.

Most likely Mo, if everyone stays healthy. Hopefully he stays healthy long enough for us to be able to make a decision. Definitely isn't room for 5. Woods, Mallory aren't going anywhere. Doubt Ogletree does either, so it's down to those 2. Again, health depending.

I hear a lot about dumping MO, but who is the blocking te if he goes?

Anybody know what's happening this week at camp? I thought rookie mini camp ended on Sunday and OTAs don't start till next week, yet they are obviously still practicing, and now it seems with the whole team.

Phase 2 of off season program began Monday May 13 right after rookie camp. Whole team together but offense vs defense can't practice against each other.

And quite a bit more fans are "white-knighting" for AP.

AP's own limitations as a WR is what has impacted him most. Similar usage across several QBs (including AR in a short sample) and two different coaching staffs. He's just not been effective enough as a short or intermediate route runner to earn more targets. You can put some of the blame on bad QB play, but there is nothing wrong with being objective about a player.

And considering Steichen is the one who calls the plays, AP's usage is also attributed to him (which conveniently doesn't get mentioned). So I will trust his judgement on this one.

Being objective is a subjective thing as we all know and many don't seem to give him credit for anything, which I don't like because he seems like a hard worker and high character guy and as I said, does the dirty work with his blocking and clearing out the middle for Pittman and Downs without complaining.

This year will be telling. But if he does do better, honestly I don't think it will be because he stepped up his game so much as he has a QB that utilizes his game better.

Pierce had most snaps as a WR in the league and Pittman was fourth. Hopefully fewer snaps will keep them fresher. They are both great blockers so the other guys are going to have to show the ability to block to win those snaps.

Yes. People shouldn't overlook their blocking skills. Two of the best blocking WRs in the game. None of this "Ole" stuff with these two.

I'm going to get over his ability to express himself as I see him being the best thing at his WR responsibilities since Marvin.

Yea, it's the optimist time of the offseason.  We're going toe to toe baby!

I'm catching a game a week of replays of last seasons big games, and a Colts game now and then. I hope AR watches a lot of them too. There is a way, a rhythm how the good QBs, the good offenses get it done.

One thing I see against good defenses is what a danger zone throwing across the middle is.

And we saw what a easy pitch and catch team our D is between the hash marks.

Agreed. I don't really care how his communication skills are as long as they don't negatively affect the team or his performance. I've never heard he was a bad teammate from his coaches or teammate, so that's good.

No, he doesn’t.  He’s very, very reluctant to say much of anything.   I don’t know if he’s been burned badly by media so he doesn’t trust them or if it’s something else?    He’ll be interesting to follow if only to see if he gets any better over time.

Pulling for him. Love to see these young kids mature and grow.

I easily could be wrong, but I think it’s this coming week.

Thanks NCF. Googled it but I get all kinds of different dates. Should be very soon I would think. I'm really interested to get another look/listen to AD Mitchell. Got to say I've seen several interviews (not just the draft one) and he doesn't cone off very well.

They also have Jones who wasn’t exactly a bum on the outside last year.  They now have three corners who can start plus Moore.  That’s a lot by NFL standards.

I included Jones as one of the "kids." 👍

That’s what you get these kinds of QBs, it’s what those who weren’t all in on Richardson on draft day were worried about.  Still he’s who the Colts took so you have to use the player you took and not try to make him into something he’s not.  If they wanted the QB who wasn’t going to use his legs they might as well have drafted Levis.

Very true. If they don't have designed runs for him, why pick him that high? That's part of the overall package. They knew the risk when they took him.

That said, don't go nuts with it, but Steichen knows what he's doing.

Hopefully the trenchers help the secondary

    Yes. Latu helps the secondary.

Their starting DB Flowers is back. The kids have a year of experience. They resigned Blackman and still have all the way to cut down day to add a vet if they want.

So he had a cervical fusion... this is a surgery I do frequently.  Once it heals the surgery is more or less the strongest part of the neck.  The biggest problems with a fusion in this context are:

    (1) loss of nerve function prior to surgery may or may not recover after surgery, usually over the next 3-12 months (but his production after surgery implies no major concern on this)

    (2) the patient will have somewhat accelerated wear/arthritis at non fused levels.  While this is a real concern, it will unfortunately be more of an issue for him later in life, after his NFL career.

Peyton had this surgery as his final neck surgery before playing for the broncos, but his problem was number one above, he apparently never had the same arm strength as before.

Ahmad Bradshaw also had this same surgery in 2013, he already had I think 6 years of RB play prior to that.  His YPC held up but was utilized less, but this may mirror more a tapering RB career.

I'm not personally worried about the medical status of this player, but I have no idea the actual details obviously.  I will say that very few surgeons would be eager to clear the player to play afterwards, mostly for the stupid liability things in medicine.

I think it's fair to say we got a really nice pick here for value.

Thanks, and you'd better be a real doctor!
