  1. 1.RB- Teams with strong Running games go a long way in the playoffs, true power running game make the passing game much stronger, and with Carter gone and this being the last year of Browns contract this will be a huge topic in the offseason.

2.WR Even if we resign DHB we need more depth at WR, someone with good hands, speed, route running and size. T.Y. is the only WR we have drafted since drafting Luck.

3.OL The oline still needs some work if you ask me, no wear near as bad as the last two years but I could still see us picking up a T,G or C. That right center, I'm not a fan of satele or holmes.

4.DE/CB I have a tie for this spot, both of these positions feed off one another so to me they are neck an neck. Redding is getting up there in age and Davis will be up for a contract at the end of this year which I exspect use to resigned him. CB is one of the most injury prone positions on must teams and we have 3 really good CB in Davis, Toler and Butler but after that this group isn't very good.

5.FS Bethea is getting up in age as well but I think he still has a lot of good football ahead of him, but I would still like to see a rookie come in and learn the ropes behind a guy like bethea.

This is all way to early and all depends on how the team plays out the 2013/14 season from a positional stand point, but unless we see some trade occur RB,WR,OL are the most important in the up coming offseason in that order.1. We can't keep faulting the line for poor RB play. 2.We can't keep plugging FA in at the WR spot and hopping for the best with guys like Avery and DHB although I like DHB and I think he will do great in Indy. 3.Early to judge the Oline but what I can tell is most of our depth consists guys that have  been apart of the 2011-2012 seasons which our line was ranked at the bottom out of 32 so that does'nt look to good as for our depth.

  2. I'm not worried with the D and to be truthful our defense has had one up over our offense sinces the start of camp from what I have read and seen on colts.com. I'm still a bit worried about the oline. So far in camp the oline looks to have the biggest weakness on the team, but its still early. I can see us having a top 5 D, but we have to stay healthy. Werner and Mathis will be great together, the d-line has much more talent and depth. CB is the biggest question on that side of the ball.

  3. DHB will be just fine, if you take a look on stampede blue or indystar you'll find that DHB had the best day at training camp on day 4. I read an artical today that said he was having some issues thus far in camp, but all sources from camp say that DHB has had a outstanding camp so far. I'll trust what Colts.com, stampede blue and indystar has to say then just someone looking for attention. There are a lot of writers who look to get a rise out of us fans but we got to be able to see through the nonsense but we will all see come opening day..

  4. I think Werner will have a great year as a rookie, and he will do just what we brought him in to do "set the edge", and "stop the run" and I expect good sack numbers this year, but thats just what I think. As for his motor I've seen different opinions from scouts, some saying he takes plays off some saying he is relentless. I have'nt seen him in a whole game but I have watched tons of highlights and from what I see Werner is a monster on the line..

  5. We did not win 12 games last year; we were 11-5.

I am not saying last years 11 wins were all because of who we played, but schedule definitely played a role. Even though a "win is a win" most of those 11 victories certainly were not decisive, and we definitely did not dominate the other teams in such a way that made a statement that said "we are back to being an elite team & perennial Super Bowl contender" or something similar.

The fact that "in your mind you can only see it one way" means you are unable to look at the Colts objectively so your prediction is a baseless & biased.  You act like every other team was just sitting around during the off season twiddling their thumbs, and the Colts are the only team that made improvements or got better.

If we go 13-3 I will be ecstatic, and say I am happy the Colts exceeded my expectations.

Your right, I mint 11 wins I feel what your saying I really do, we just look at things a bit different. You set your expectation low, I set mines high. Its been a while since the Colts have dominated other teams I'd say 2009 and in my opinion if we win by 3 or 21 as you said a win is a win, hell the Ravens weren't blowing teams out but they are the SB Champs. You say I am unable to look at the Colts objectively so my prediction is baseless & biased well I dont think your looking at the Colts at all, you sound like the kind of person who sets their goals and expectation low so you dont have to deal with disappointment and that might just work for you. You say I act as if the colts are the only team that has gotten better this offseason and thats not it at all, but let me ask you this why in your mind did we have such a successful 2012 season? Andrew Luck is why, and what team has gotten a QB in your mind this offseason by the draft or FA similar to Luck "none" right and what did the Colts focus on this offseason and who had more money to spend on Free Agents then us, we took care of the line on both sides of the ball which was a big hole for us last year, we got better at WR and RB, OLB, ILB, CB, SS not to mention alot of guys are going into their second year as pros, but the biggest factor here is Luck and with better protection, better wide outs and a running game as well as a defense that can get him the ball back, why is it baseless & biased to predict a 13-3 season. Its because I'm setting the bar high. I've noticed the more I hear from you the more you sound just like one of those analyst off the NFL network. Well you have your own opinion and that all good. We'll see what happens when the season starts. Have a good one signing out Kool Aid and Blue Glasses GO COLTS!!!

  6. I was not making a prediction per se, I was making the case that analysts or anyone making predictions for that matter could make solid arguments with sound reasoning for anything within that range.  I think it is much harder for someone to make a solid argument for predicting a record outside that range.

While there is some disrespect ... it not as rampant as many are making it out to be.  An analyst suggesting we may have a worse record than last year is not necessarily disrespecting the Colts, its simply an opinion ... and a realistic one at that.

13-3 is the worse you can see ...really?  If you think that us losing 3-4 of the "toss-up" games (49ers, Seahawks, Broncos, Texans x 2, Bengals, & Rams) & then getting "upset" in at least 1 game by one of the "lesser" teams (Chargers, Titans x 2, Chiefs, Dolphins, Cardinals, Raiders, Jags x 2) is not a very realistic possibility then you really do need to stop drinking the Kool-Aid and take off the blue glasses.

You can make any solid argument you want when it come to the NFL, it all comes down to who is lessoning. There is much more disrespect then you think, I know I see and hear it just about everytime the colts have came up this offseason. 13-3 yes thats the worse I can see, Really. As I said we face alot of good teams this year, but last year when we were predicted to just win a few games I was quoted up here saying not only did I think we would make it to the playoffs but would win 10 to 11 games, and how about it we won 12, this year we will win 13. I dont care who we play 49er, Seahawks, Broncos, Texans bla, bla, bla. while we head to a 13 win season I'm going to be setting back with my blue glasses and Kool-Aid in hand enjoying the ride. The realistic possibility can go both ways but as a indianapolis native in my mind there is only one way. The whole football world said last year we were a 2 win team other then the try Colt fans we won 12 games. So you are saying we only won 12 games because of who we played if thats the case what will you say when we do go 13-3?? we were lucky??

  7. I expect the team to be much improved over last year, but being a better team and having a worse record are not mutually exclusive.  We are playing several very good teams this year, and others that are much improved and/or underperformed last season. I think a reasonable case can be made for predicting the Colt's record will be anywhere between 9-7 and 12-4, and I don't see why so many get up in arms when an analyst makes a legitimate prediction at the low end of this range or say we may have a worse record this year. Anyone who thinks a worse record is not a real possibility needs to lay off the Kool-Aid.

A legitimate prediction is 9-7 or 12-4 but not in between or both, that's you just trying to be safe with ur prediction if there is such a thing. You are right we will face much better teams this season and some are much improved from last year but no team is more improved then the Colts. Truthfully anything can happen on any given Sunday but as a true fan I'll go on record and say we will win more then 9,10,11 or 12 game's this year and I will keep drinking my Kool-Aid. As I said everyone veiwed us as a 2 win team last year and I've hear many say we will be a 9 win team this year, but my prediction is 13-3. A worse record is possible but doubtful to me. Try and understand we get up in arms because the lack of respect shown by most analyst when taking a close look at the Colts and Luck. Luck has done more with less then any other starting QB and yet the analyst say its due mostly in part of BA and his offensive scheme's rather then giving the kid the credit he deserves for what he did in his rookie year.Luck won more games then any other QB in NFL history drafted with the first pick in the 1st round. As the season kicks off just watch how many of these same analyst jump on the ban wagon. Only way we loss more then 3 games is if Luck is hurt..

  8. Well for most NFL analyst of retired players, they aready have it in their mind who and what teams they like. The buzz this offseason is the Colts success from 2012 steaming from BA, and now that he is in Arizona we wont be anywhere as good as last year and I've hear this from a number of NFL sources. To me its music to my ears, these guys put their foot in their mouths every offseason. With everything that was predicted last year, watching how our season turned out and how many of these same analyst just started jumping on the ban wagon I really came to the realization that these guys don't have a clue about any other teams other then the one's they retired from. I know we still don't get the respect we should but hell it doesn't bother me I like being the underdog. We as Colt fan know what to expect out of our team so I look forward to see who out of the NFL network will be a ban wagon fan this year.

  9. Landry will make the biggest impact in the 2013 season, stopping the run will be huge and when taking a close look of our front 7 on the Defensive line I can see Landry playing lights out and clean up against the run and pass.'AKA' we got our Bob back with Landry. When I thank of a unit that stands out it would be the D-line, this line is solid with a number of guys who can get the job done. I really like our depth, size and stregth along this line with guys like Chappy NT, Redding DE, Franklin NT, Guy DE,Hughes DL, Francois DL, McKinney NT, Nevis DE, Mathews DE,Moala DE and Tevaseu NT and Heard DL. I think that this will be the first year that our D could be just as good as the offense.

  10. I'm not a betting man but after last year its hard not to put all my money on us. I'm not sure if we will go all the way and win it all but I do think we will have a much better season then last year from a defensive stand point. I'd say our D is a top 10 this year and maybe a top 5 in run D. Understand this D has been put together to first stop the run, and with our division full of guys like Johnson, Foster and jones- drew, teams will have a hard time running the ball on us this year. The Texans are our biggest competition and if you take Foster out of the equation there is no way we loss. The biggest game changer for me is our running game, if Bradshaw can stay healthy he will be the missing piece to the offence. If you take a good look at the holes on this team from last year its clear of the drastic improvements. On D our front 7 are bigger and stronger and nasty at the point of attack and the amount of depth we now have with guys like Chapman,Franklin,Francois, Hughes and Mckinney now healthy Redding, Moala,Nevis and Mathews. We finally have OLB that fit the 3-4 scheme and can rush the passer, guys like Werner,Mathis Walden and Sidbury. We're stacked at ILB again this year as we were last year, then add Toler and Landry on the back end in witch CB and SS were two of our biggest weakness from last year on that side of the ball not to mention most of our players are entering their second year in this scheme. We had a massive upgrade to the O-line with Thomas,Cherilus,Holmes and Thornton so the protection should be much improved from last year, then lets look at a few new toys Luck received this offseason in Heyward-Bey, Bradshaw and K. Williams which williams will shock alot of people similar to the way TY shocked lot of fans last year. Cunningham will make the 53 man roster. With most of our players on offence going into their second year even if it is a new scheme I expect great things out of guys like Fleener,Allen,TY,Whalen,Ballard. You mixed a few vets like Wayne, Bradshaw and its hard not to think we can go all the way but only time will tell...The season can't get here fast enough!!!

  11. We also have Dan Moore, Denodus O'Bryant and Kerwynn Williams(2 of those will probably make the team)...Were covered if Brown goes down......I dont see Carter being on the roster come week 1

Yes you are correct, we do have 3 camp body's at the RB position Moore, O'Bryant and Carter we would'nt be looking at RBs in free agency if they felt good about our depth behind Ballard..
  12. I'm glad we focused on the oline this offseason, but we still need help at the RB position. Ballard is a good starter but after him I don't have much faith in Brown or Carter and with the new running schemes we should be using this year judging by what coaches are telling us I cant understand why so many posters still feel as if we are good at the RB position, I understand the importance of taking care of the oline first but I'm so tired of other making up reason why Brown stays hurt, what will we say this year when he gets hurt the oline just isn't there yet? I'm not trying to bash anyone just stating what we all have seen in he past which is, Carter has been a none factor since being drafted, Brown is hurt every year and every offseason someone is up here making up reasons why he is hurt and every year its due to the line. I'm sorry but if our line was a top 10 in the NFL Brown would be hurt that year aswell. I just don't want to see us fall short due to depth at that position. If you look close at the loss to the Ravens, Ballard was gased and there was no one to come in and give him a breake, and untill we address the backup position I expect the same thing out of Brown. Luck will carrie the team to the playoff, but without a strong running game I'm not sure how far we will go, but if we go all the way I'll eat my words. If you take a close look at every team in the playoffs last year read the names of the RBs on each team, and if you still fell that those backs were only successful due to the strangths of their olines your crazy!!!! SO Happy Its A Contract Year For DB.

  13. I know I'm going to get a lot of flack for this thread but I just can't but think what it would mean for this team if they were able to pull off sellecting two of the most explosive players to come out of the draft in some years. Before I continue I just want it to be known that I am aware of our needs, I know of the the off field issues of one of the players, and I know we already have Hilton. So first I'll start with the slot guy and he is the closest thing to Berry Sanders if you ask me and thats Mr Tavon Austin, and if you don't agree with that please, please youtube his name and watch his highlights. I know we would have to reach in order to get him but wow is he worth the risk and value. Second prospect is Tyrann Mathieu, thats right and before we start talking about his mistakes and issues and all the red flags ask yourself first have you ever needed a second chance, we all make mistakes and I think he has learned from his but the kid is a true baller and I can't help but to think of both of these guy on the same team how that would help both sides of the ball. Teams would be out of gas playing us before the half. I sure this would never happen and lot of fans would hate to see it happen because of what we would have to give up to make it happen but when you have some free time youtube them both, I think each one of these guys have bright careers ahead of them..

  14. We need a RB that can pass block and catch out of the backfield. Lacy is mediocre at both of those. He doesn't fit our scheme in those ways.

I agree with you there but thats the plus in having two backs because Ballard can pass block and catch out of the backfield, same as Lacy can run with a level of power, strangth and speed that Ballard can't, thats the whole point in having two backs that complment one another and trufully Lacy just need some coaching, same as Ballard did last year in training camp.

  15. Did you read my post or are you just going to say the same thing regardless of replies?

Of course a great ground game would be huge for us, but I would rather get someone who fits the scheme, and brings something different from what we have. Donald Brown may not be near Spiller in talent, but he is the same type of player i.e. very dangerous in open space. A good rotation works. As I stated I would prefer a Patriots-like approach where we have different types of backs that can exploit weaknesses in different defenses. It has proven to be effective.

Good RBs do not win football games, they just contribute, like a slot receiver.

Why do you feel a power RB doesn't fit our scheme, a guy like Lacey is much diff than anyone on our roster at the RB position. D Brown is dangerous in space and he and Ballard are a good rotation but first Brown needs to be on the field for an entire season, can't be to affective if your on IR when we need you the most. We are not the Patriots and wont be using their types of approach, we will be running the west coast offence, a heavy power run approach, TEs and a lot of play action outside of Ballard we have Mr. IR in Brown and Mr.fumble in Carter and Ballard can't do it all on his own. Lastly your right a good RB doesn't win games they are just contributers same as every other positions, 11 on 11 team game brother, a good team wins games.

  16. With the new offensive scheme of pep, we will need another running back and Ballard is a very good back but he did run out of gas against the Ravens last year in the playoffs, to his credit he did most of the work in 2012. D, Brown stays hurt year in year out and Carter is a bust and please give it a rest as for him getting back his confidence, just being honest. Now I'm not saying we need to take a RB in the first round, but I will not discredit our OF if thats the direction they choose to take. We can talk all day about the Bills and Bucs and their selections at RBs in the first round but the truth is they do not have Andrew Luck and they are not the colts. Why our we jugding our success off of what another team has done which both have yet to have the success that the colts have had in the past "why". The funny thing to me is with everyone being so negitive about drafting a RB in the first round, if we go in that direction sure many fans will be upset, but if it turns out to be a great pick everyone will jump on the ban wagan like they were always a supporter. The same was said about E. James in 99 after we drafted Manning in 98 . A strong running game not only takes a lot of presure off of Luck but it helps the D get a breather as well. Not saying we need to take a RB in the 1st rd but wont hurt no matter were we go in the draft, chill out and let the front office do their job because Irsay,Grigs,Luck and Pagano and Arians is why we were 11-4 not us they will make the right choice for the team!!!

  17. @Indyboy757

From the website you provided, I added them up and got 72m spent on players. So I think you left out a group when you added it. Our cap space is more like 77m as we still have about 5m in dead money left over to give. Then you can see 121m-77m = 44m

Ok well I just checked my math and I'm still coming up with the same figures so I'll just write it out and maybe you can tell me what I'm doing wrong.

    TOTALS

    QB-$1,874.909

    RB-$5,262.441

    WR-$9,403.325

    TE-$2,950.908

    OL-$4,725.434

    Interior Line-$5,996.667

comes to $30,213.684 for the offence

    DL-$9,072.823

    LB-$17,875.059

    CB-$2,726.250

S-$ ok you are right I see I left out the Safty's.

    S-9,279.667

    ST-$3,880.000

comes to $42,833.799 which is $73,047.483 in total, so yes you are right thinks for taking the time to help me break this down but hell i'm still off at $73M but at least I know what I was doing wrong, know I have to see why im missing $4M.Thanks Mike

  18. Under the rules of the new

collective bargaining agreement, teams had to designate how much money

they wanted to carry over to the 2013 salary cap. The carryover

    provisions are new and important.

The Colts carried over 3.5 mil from 2012 .

The carry over number that your talking about has nothing to do with the $14mill that I'm not able to find.

  19. I think you're missing something....    I think you're not factoring in various bonuses...   signing bonus, roster bonus, workout bonus, escalator clauses....

Our available money to spend is in the mid-40's.    In the past few weeks, NFL.com has put out their latest revision on salary cap numbers and the figure for the Colts was $43 Mill and change.    That's down a bit from earlier in the 2012 season when it was reported in the neighborhood of $46-47 mill.

But there is no one reporting $57 Mill.     I know you said IndyStar,  but I think that's incorrect.   IndyStar has been reporting in the mid-40's for months.

Again, if you can provide a link for us to see,  great.....     otherwise.....

I clearly understand what everyone else is reporting our cap to be and yes I'm sure they are accurate, but using this link that I did put up here which breaks down every player under contracts pay. The funny thing is when you add up the amounts we will pay on Offence-$30,213.910 and Defence-$33,554.132 which is 63,768.042 and subtract that amounts from $121Mill I get  57,231.910. I just like to understand things rather then taking others word. I know I'm missing something but I dont think its signing bonuses, not amounting to 14Mill. I'm not saying we should have 57Mill all I'm saying is can someone tell me what I'm missing without guessing.

  20. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1530429-latest-salary-cap-breakdown-for-colts I have broke down our 2013 salary for every player under contract. For offence we will spend 30,213,910 and on D 33,554,132. Total is 63,768,042 and with the cap set at 121,000,000, that leaves us with 57,231,960 so my question is, were is 14m that to me seems to be missing. How did we get to the 43M number which everyone says we will have? Is there dead money or contracts that are not listed in this article?

  21. HUGE Colt fan, live in Virginia, Chesapeake to be exact but I was born and raise in Indianapolis. Our super bowl year was my last in indy, and its so crazy everyone around me are redskin, Steelers and cowboy fans but one thing I know their is no place like home and no team like the COLTS. Living in another state I'm so proud to say my home is indianapolis Indiana...

    GO COLTS....
