Maybe he wanted to play another season, and NE was the only team interested. Sometimes they have to take what they can get or be out of football. it could have been that kind of situation.

On the other hand, it would be neat if AP got 1000 yards this season. He seems to be near the end of his career, but who knows how it will work out.

Probably won't happen in the Saints system. We use Ingram on the ground for primary running. I think Peterson will fill the role that Hightower had the previous few seasons. The Saints like to use an additional running back for a one-two punch run in games and creating mismatches. They've been doing this for years, going back to when they had Reggie Bush and Pierre Thomas together.

I expect to see Peterson taking a lot of screen passes and probably for short yardage situations. Unless Ingram gets hurt (which is likely), I don't expect to see Peterson becoming the feature back.

Knew the Butler deal wasn't going to happen. Many are disappointed but I had a feeling we were not getting him after trading Cooks.

I like the Peterson signing for one reason. It gives the Vikings something else to cry about with the Saints besides this -

7 mill for 2 years isn't that bad. We got him cheap.

Ingram is the premier back with this team. Peterson will probably not be used as much as Ingram. Saints needed a replacement for Hightower who just left.

The NFL sent two garbage teams to L.A., ultimately screwing the Raiders out. Come time for the Chargers/Raiders game, do not be surprised if that entire stadium is loaded with Raiders fans.

Both of them will lose 10 or more games. L.A. is a tough market as it is, but the league didn't help by sending trash teams there instead of a team with a pretty good fan base that would've showed up and still is going to show up there (Raiders).

I'm glad it wasn't the Colts. That show embarrasses teams, IMO

It certainly creates a lot of distractions for teams. I'm happy it wasn't the Saints.

Tampa Bay already has one big distraction.....

She'll be a big part of Hard Knocks. It will be like a reality TV show for her, won't be shocked if she completely steals the show with her antics...just wait till Tampa Bay starts losing, and she is going to go off on the media there and create a storm with her Twitter account and ranting about the media there. In Miami, she routinely targeted sports writers for the Miami Herald, ranting about the QB, and the Dolphins owner.

So sick of writers using the "suck for luck" excuse. Such crap, sure all those people involved losing their jobs were top priority. On the flip side, I sure hope Peyton doesn't do it out of my own selfishness. Still would love to see him join the Colts again in some fashion.

Whatever you believe, outside of this fan base, most NFL fans will always believe the Colts truly did tank that year since "Suck for Luck" was even on T-shirts and a big movement online at the time. That was a glorious tank job, no one could've accomplished it better or had a better slogan than "Suck for Luck". Kerry Collins and Curtis Painter. lmao

    Playing devils advocate here:

Actually the Colts were offered nearly Hershal Walker type of deals for that first pick.   I think at least 2 teams were willing to give their whole draft for the pick.   It would be interesting to see what could have happened.

Correct. The Browns are the main team who offered to throw their entire draft to the Colts to get Luck.

Tomorrow the NFL schedules will be properly released for all 32 teams.

What are your predictions for the schedules?

Mine is that the Falcons will open their first home in their new stadium against the Saints, and it could be an SNF game.

*The GB/Atlanta rematch will be a SNF or MNF game

*Chiefs/Pats will be the Thursday night opener.

Yep in the NBA you got players who don't win a ring or just one and they can be in the level of the best of all time. In the NFL you had Montana worship and now Brady worship. Marino was probably better the both too.......yes I said that Pats fans. Marino was probably better then BOTH.

My only problem with the NBA is the God like worship of Michael Jordan who I think is overrated and having said that I will now duck tomatoes and hide in the corner.:hide:

Yeah that is how big having a Ring is, Edge doesnt have one either so not sure he will get in either? At least Gore reached the SB and will pass Dickerson. Bruce even has a Ring and isnt in? His Stats are unreal too.

This is precisely why I believe the ring deal is worse in the NFL than in the NBA. In the NBA, they don't have a problem letting in various players into the Hall when they don't have championships. In the NFL, it really all boils down to that. Not even stats can get you in alone, unless rare instances of once in a generation talent.

He will probably still make the HOFame but who knows about how those dudes vote? Isaac Bruce isn't in which is a farce. Gore will pass Eric Dickerson this season barring injury but some of these voters have me SMH. SF should definitely retire his number I agree.

I don't know why Isaac Bruce isn't in. He has the stats. Even more so, he only had three seasons with Kurt Warner. He accumulated his numbers having garbage QB's like Tony Banks and Marc Bulger throwing to him. Plus, he has a Super Bowl and will go down in memory of having the game winning touchdown in that game.

I don't know if Gore will get in since he don't have a ring. Hall of Fame voting can be pretty tricky towards players that haven't won a championship but do have the stats. It's even worse for defensive players when they bring in playoff wins and those kind of win statistics.

If the 49ers had won the SB with Harbaugh in 2012, none of this would be a question; Gore would get in. I think some people forget just how god awful those 49er teams were in most of Gore's career. Even in Harbaugh's first year with Alex Smith at QB, they couldn't move the ball that good and struggled offensively all year which was their downfall in the NFCCG. Gore at least deserves his number retired by the organization since he carried them for years on offense.

  10.

He would have a ring if the 49ers had ran the ball just 1 time when they had 4 plays at the goal line at the end of the SB....Gore's big run put them there, then they went 4 out of pass attempts.

Gore deserves to have his number retired from their the 49ers' franchise perspective. He is their leading rusher (breaking Roger Craig's long held franchise records), and he was the best offensive talent that carried those crappy 49er teams for years before Harbaugh got there. Even when Harbaugh had first arrived, Gore pretty much was the entire offense in 2012 when they had Alex Smith.

If he had the ring from 2012, he probably would be a Hall of Famer.

If using the Hoyer example is what is needed, then we should compare 1 year of Hoyer in Houston to 1 year of Brock in Houston:

    Hoyer - 61% completions, 19 TD's vs 7 INT's, 91.4 rating

    Brock - 59% completions, 15 TD's vs 16 INT's, 72.2 rating

Did you see Hoyer's playoff game in Houston? He was terrible. Can't judge stats when it comes to the biggest game of your career, and O'Brien refused to pull him after 3 interceptions in the first half.

I think they should have given Brock another year to see if he could improve. Not a popular opinion but I don't see how Brock could get any worse.

I liked Brock but I think his problem was running in that offensive scheme. I don't know why Houston demands to be a pass happy offense. They have a decent running game and Brock did look good from time to time when they had an established run and a balanced offense. Brock seemed like a game manager QB from his days in Denver, and O'Brien just threw him out there with that college offense thinking he could become a top passer overnight. He ran the same offense that Hoyer looked like trash in.

I've never believed in O'Brien being the answer at head coach there. Romeo Crennel has proven he can be a better defensive coordinator than head coach, since he made it work all last year without JJ Watt. I'm still expecting Houston's defense to be a strong force next season.

Brock and Matt Flynn and Chase Daniel should all buddy up and start a club together. They can call themselves the "Backup quarterbacks that got paid". lmao

  13.

Whoever they bring in is bound to struggle due to O'Brien's scheme. He ran Brock in the same spread scheme that he ran Hoyer in and they both failed.

Houston just needs a decent quarterback and maybe a better offensive minded coach and they would be ready for a deep playoff run with a healthy defense.

Yeah I'm not sure what station etc but he has his own show...like the Dan Dakich of the NFL...it's truly awful. I just remember him doing games and his radio show too....I never want to hear him again. I thought he was on CBS as well...not in the booth but in the studio. Come to think of it he is probably on cbs radio now....soon to be sent off to the CFL hopefully.

Boomer and Marino couldn't stand each other, for years they've acted like they would tear each other's heads off once the cameras turn off.
