Here is a question for everyone, ever since Deflategate happened can you guys show me 1 link or state anything good or positive that 1 person has said about the Colts on Fox, ESPN, and NFL Channel? If there is one I haven't seen it. The hate from the media toward Indianapolis since Deflatgate smells like rotten skunk if you ask me!

I don't know what you expect from them. Are they supposed to brag and hype up an 8-8 team?

The Saints have been 7-9 now for 3 years in a row, same situation with no one in the media hyping us up and we don't deserve to be hyped up whatsoever. You are what your record says you are. Has nothing to do with Deflategate. Until they post a winning record again, no one in the media is going to hype up a team that barely makes it to 8-8 playing in the AFC South that is still the worst division in football.

I am going to bed here in a minute and don't even care about this crap one way or another to be honest because the people that hate him, hate him. I think the hate Lonzo gets is so stupid and it's based on his dad being a loud mouth. If people on here want to bash him and say he's a bust because of 1 bad Summer League game then I hope it makes them feel good. All I did, was point out he had a TDB. 11 Rebounds and 11 Assists is pretty impressive by anyone's standards. 11 Points is ok as well when you have 11 Assists. As far as debating with people in here about Lonzo from here and out, I am not going to do it anymore though after tonight because I am getting to old for the nonsense back and forth stuff with people. If people want to bash him then go for it if that gives them thrills and joy. I said my peace about it and I know he will be Very Good if not Great. He has an all-around game where he can Assist/Rebound/and Score. If he improves his shot which he will, he will be a Great Pro. I will just let his play speak for itself from here on out and let D Russell lovers watch that guy disappear in Brooklyn.

You basically just summed up why everyone hates him with this little essay rant. I already told you, people don't like Lonzo because he had amazingly glaring red flags and a huge bust potential. Yes, his dad is an butt. But that don't take away that Lonzo's shooting mechanics are god awful, and I'm pretty sure I linked you to a brilliant article that went through all his flaws. If it weren't for all this hype, he wouldn't have even went in the first round. I guess you didn't read it, since you are just going off screaming at me how wrong I am cause you hate D'Angelo Russell so much and hope that kid fails cause Lonzo is some future Hall of Famer.

Most people probably don't like him cause when we criticize him, or don't fall to our knees and bow down to him, we get an essay rant like the one you just directed at me. I sent you an article a while back summing up all his issues and deunking the whole "you just hate him cause his dad". You must not have read it, cause here we are back at Square A, where you're just blaming all the criticism on his dad. Sure, his dad hasn't helped with his mouth and hyping him up, but a lot of people didn't want Lonzo cause he has such glaring red flags. When you take away the hype around him, he's not that great. He's a good passer, but everything else had serious red flags.

So far in summer league, he hasn't done anything. One triple double in summer league, so? Tim Tebow used to have a 300 yard passing game from time to time. Tatum, Jackson and Fultz look far better than him but they're not insanely hyped up like Lonzo Ball is. You just proved my point, cause I mentioned Tatum and you went off the wall to rant about how terrible D'Angelo Russell is. I didn't even mention him, so I don't get your point there.

Lonzo hasn't proved at all that he can score. Have you seen his shooting motion? It's bad...Of 4 of his 5 buckets last night, 4 of them went uncontested. That's about all he can do so far. He can't play defense, and he just jacks up three point shots constantly. The kid has major issues that need to be worked on. He's basically hyped up like Tim Tebow was in the NFL, and has the same major flaws, yet the hype has people expecting him to be a Hall of Famer right out the gate.

So far, he's a good passer but that's it. A good passer, but terrible on defense and his shooting motion is so awful, it won't be long before NBA level defenders are abusing him.

Lonzo's defense is god awful. Even his fans have talked about how slow he is and gets dunked on so far in summer league. This is only summer league. Just wait till the real NBA starts and see how bad this kid gets abused in the NBA. Last year, on 100 shots, the Lakers were dunked on 25% of the time. Five Thirty Eight highlighted how bad their defense was last year, and they countered this by drafting the kid with all the red flags and the worst defense in the first round.

It has nothing to do with D'Angelo Russell. I didn't even mention him, so why are you bringing him up?

I already told you the Lakers made a huge mistake by trading D'Angelo because, who else is going to score now for them? Ingram? Ingram is still a work in progress as was Russell. As much as you bash D'Angelo, he didn't play against the Lakers, so if anything, he would be helping them out there. The kid was scoring last year, was one of their best players and has a far better shot than Lonzo's weird slow wind up mechanics and that ugly shooting form that obviously isn't working so far in summer league since his shooting is horrible. Everything people said about Lonzo's bad shot needing to be worked on, well it does. I don't care how much he's hyped up to be the next Magic Johnson or Jason Kidd or whatever, the kid has serious mechanics issues. He's a work in progress. He isn't going to live up to all this insane hype around him.

You spin this as a Lonzo vs D'Angelo thing, but fact is, trading D'Angelo puts even MORE pressure on this kid to succeed. Of all the first round picks, Lonzo had the most red flags and the most bust potential because his mechanics are god awful and no other team wanted him except L.A. who bought into all the insane hype. Magic and Pelinka did not help him at all by trading a 21 year old kid who was still developing and greatly improved last year with his scoring. They haven't done nothing to really help Lonzo at all with this team, and then to make matters worse, Nick Young is in Golden State now. So now, Lonzo really has to live up all this "he's going to be better than Curry!" hype that his father and the Lakers front office have given him.

You can rant about D'Angelo all you want but he was only 21 years old and thus a work in progress. I'm sure when Lonzo struggles, you'll be telling us all how he's only 19 years old, even though you obviously didn't give D'Angelo that benefit of a doubt. He didn't play against the Lakers, so I don't get why you spin this with a 'us vs them' rant about him. D'Angelo played with this same Lakers team and had he been on the floor, they have a younger squad that could've helped Lonzo.

If Lonzo don't live up to all these insane expectations about him with his stupid dad and Magic Johnson talking about retiring his jersey before he's even played a single game (seriously, who says this stupid stuff before a player has played a single game?), then the Lakers are absolutely screwed in the future. They're already screwed cause they're a horrible team and have two guys running the team who are incompetent and have no experience and no business running a front office, but if Lonzo don't live up to all the hype around him, then it's going to get ugly fast.

At most, Lonzo will be a very mediocre player at best. Very good or all time great, that's a horrible stretch thanks to all the insane hype that has been built up around him. At least the Lakers have some new drama and finally can move past their whole obsession of Kobe, since they've bought into LaVar Ball's hype, hook, line and sinker.

I find it hilarious that Pats fans, who have a team that has won 5 superbowls since Brady has been there, still obsess with a Colts team that has been an irrelevant 8-8 the past 2 seasons.  Tell ya what, if it was my team that had won those 5 superbowls, I'd be carefree what anybody else thought.

Anxiety runs high in Pats land apparently.

I don't think they obsess over the Colts at all. Actually, it's the other way around. Look at the number of threads about the Patriots are posted in the General NFL forum....Not a week goes by without some topic about them being brought up.

Jazz fans had a conspiracy for the last few weeks that the league secretly wanted a white all star in a large market like Boston. lmao I didn't watch the video but they even made a video on it.

I am laughing though since one of the teams interested apparently in Kelly O now is rumored to be the Jazz.

The NBA has probably the most conspiracy-oriented fans of any major sport.

Their conspiracy theories go as far back to the 80's, sometimes even back to the 70's depending on what you are hearing. lmao

I'm sure that conspiracy revolved around this photo for sure....

I think the west is getting too crowded and it was part of Boston's pitch to Hayward. You get lost easily with Utah and will just be a second round exit most seasons.

The West is STACKED right now, it is ridiculous. We need more competition in the East, otherwise it's just a cakewalk.

Atlanta is tanking right now too, so that's another team out of the equation. Many believe the Sixers are going to rise up in the East, but it depends on if their draft picks turn out awesome. I'm hoping they do, I like Simmons and Fultz.

But I will admit NOTHING tops when Lebron left Cleveland. And Lebron is the ultimate rock star in a sport and a once in a lifetime talent. So he got the mass burning of jerseys and that letter by Gilbert is among by far the nastiest thing I ever seen in sports. I almost wish Lebron never went back to Cleveland since he was totally settled in Miami. Lebron has always been treated like a slave by Cleveland.

It really all began with LeBron. I don't remember another player in the past who left a team and had big jersey burnings and an owner that penned an angry disgusting letter. I still think LeBron shouldn't have went back to Gilbert after that. That letter was one of the worst things I ever seen from a sports owner.

I still remember in the mid 90's when Shaq left Orlando to go to L.A.. I guess if social media existed back then like now, people would've been calling him a "traitor" or whatever cause the Magic turned into a dumpster fire without him, but living in the Gulf Coast, everyone I know who were Shaq fans, we just became Lakers fans and followed him. There wasn't no big jersey burnings or anything. We just bought new posters to put next to the old ones.

I do wish LeBron had never went back to Cleveland, totally. Miami fans did not treat LeBron like how Cleveland fans do. When Miami lost, their fans were just happy to have a winning season and a fun ride. Go read on Cavs forums and when they are losing, they STILL hate him. This past year, they acted like they were supposed to repeat like it was something they were owed. They don't even appreciate him after he delivered a championship to them.

IMO I think after so many years, people would've got over the whole "The Decision" thing with him leaving Cleveland had he stayed in Miami, cause it isn't that far off from past players. Wilt Chamberlain practically forced Philly to trade him. Kareem threatened to not even play if the Bucks didn't trade him...Everyone forgets that now cause time heals wounds.

Since then though, it happens to every other player who leaves. They burned Durant's jerseys in Oklahoma last year. Now they're burning Hayward's. It's disgusting to think about. Like I said, NFL fans do not do this. You can have a beloved player who even goes and gets a ring with the team's arch-rival and no one cares. Rod Woodson is beloved by Steelers fans and he got a ring with the 2000 Ravens, yet I never see Steelers fans calling him a traitor or anything.

Well the pressure is still on the Cavs again as always. I mean it always will be as long as they have Lebron James on their team.

LeBron is their entire team pretty much.

Had San Antonio reached the Finals, I think the series would've been just as ugly or probably even worse since they have Leonard who can guard LeBron good.

If by any chance, they run into a team who can shut LeBron down or limit him, they're toast. They're not like those Miami Heat teams who had depth and could overcome that. LeBron gets shut down, Kyrie isn't going to carry them and neither are the old overpaid overrated guys that they think are still great. I still am in shock at what they paid TT.

I love the signing by Boston and I like Stevens and Hayward but unless they make 1 more big move I cant them beating a team with LeBron on it with Kyire and Love. Cavs toy'd with them last year.

Every year can be different and time changes...The Cavs are on their way down due to age. They're becoming the retirement home of the NBA, like the mid-late 90's Buffalo Bills were.

I think in the next 5 years, Boston could dominate the East if their young continues to progress. It may not be this year, but the future looks bright for them. And unlike Cleveland, they didn't waste all their draft picks or trade them away to sign older players.

  9. From Twitter, Jazz fans are burning Hayward jerseys.

This is pathetic and probably the thing I hate the most about the NBA. This stuff is ridiculous and uncalled for.

There is no such thing as "loyalty" in a business. That's why it's called FREE agency. Seriously, why should a player stick with the same team forever just cause they drafted him? Think about it from their perspective. The goal for any player every year is to win a championship. They're not slaves, but my god they're treated like this by the fans who talk about "loyalty".

I only ever see this with NBA fans. The jersey burning and talking about being "betrayed" and all that, etc. I never see this in the NFL. Usually in the NFL, when a beloved player leaves their team and goes to another, the fans still root for them. Colts fans were still rooting for Manning in Denver. Jets fans wanted to see Revis get a ring, even if it was with their arch-rival nemesis of NE. But with the NBA, weather it's LeBron James, Kevin Durant or Gordon Hayward, oh no, the fans start burning jerseys and acting like this specific player owed them something just for being drafted by that team.

So do you think Boston can beat Cleveland now?

Boston has a couple advantages over them -

They're better coached, for one. The other major advantage is depth.

Cleveland isn't that good of a team. Their record without LeBron the past 2 years speaks for itself. There is no way Kyrie and Kevin Love are going to push that team without him. Cleveland has so many old guys, they look like the 90's Buffalo Bills retirement home. Slow and old guys like Richard Jefferson and JR Smith, and they overpaid garbage like Tristan Thompson, and just paid Kyle Korver to come back who is probably the most overrated guy on that team, as he was a complete no-show in the Finals when they needed him the most.

I love LeBron but his team is awful. I've been saying it for a few years now that I wish he would've stayed in Miami cause Pat Riley knew what he was doing, where LeBron the GM in Cleveland isn't that good. The Cavs aren't the team of the future in the next 5 years. That honor goes to Boston and if Philly succeeds on all their big draft picks (I'm hoping they do, Ben Simmons and Fultz are great kids).

Boston could push Cleveland to the limits, if their youth gels. You're younger, and they have a coach who is better than Lue. I like their chances against Cleveland.

    Apparently Rank isn't always rank.

Bert Jones was very close to being that 4th all timer.

I wonder if anyone has done a stat on the percentage of years a franchise has had a 'franchise' QB?

For example (these numbers aren't real accurate) the Packers are 100 years old.  They had Starr, Favre, and Rodgers for 40 years.  40%

Colts are roughly 60 years old.  Unitas, Morrall, Jones, Manning, Luck = about 40.

    Colts = 66%.

    Who's better?

Bert Jones was awesome. It's a shame his 1976 season is being forgotten in time due to inflated passing stats and modern era. For the time, that was a ground breaking season with his TD/INT ratio. Nowadays with younger fans, I guess it isn't that impressive.

Terrific quarterback. One of those "what could've been" type QB's in history that leave you wondering if he could've become a Hall of Famer had injuries not slowed him down.

  12.

Now you know the fate of the Raiders. Overpaying a quarterback never ends well....

Carr is good but he hasn't won a SB to warrant that kind of insane contract. The Raiders are going to be strapped down paying for him, which will hurt that team in the long run as it did the Saints in 2012 and Baltimore a few years ago when they overpaid Flacco.

I can't wait for Green Bay to overpay Rodgers. I am looking forward to this, cause no one will be able to complain about the Packers defense terrible anymore when they spend all that money on Rodgers.

Agreed.  When you talk about MVP, you can almost narrow your choices to the best QBs.  Makes things boring and arguably unfair to other players.  JJ Watt should have an MVP award to his name

I believe Watt was in the conversation back in 2012 when Peterson won it, or I may be off a year?

Otherwise, I totally agree with you. We haven't had a defensive MVP since 1986. That needs to change eventually.

  14. 4 hours ago, 2006Coltsbestever said:

    8. The NFL should make 3 changes. (1.) The OT rule should give each Offense a chance to get onto the field no matter what, (2.) If a WildCard team has a better record than a Division winner, they should have HFA in that Playoff game - meaning if a 5 or 6 has a better record over a 3 or 4, (3.) The Pass Interference Penalty should be like college = 15 yards.

I disagree on this with OT rules. I prefer 'sudden death'. If your defense can't stop the other team from rolling down the field and scoring, then you don't deserve a second chance. That's just the way I see it. I don't think we'll ever see a return of sudden death though, the league tends to favor the college rules more.

  15.

it's difficult to really say about the MVP award cause it's been going to quarterbacks for decades.

Through out the 1980's, a quarterback was awarded the MVP 7 out of 10 times. In the 70's, it was 5 out of 10.

Brian Sipe and Ken Anderson are quarterbacks who won MVP's and I don't think many people outside Cleveland and Cincy fans are familiar with those names. Even then, Kosar and Boomer Esiason are often the historic QB's associated with those teams as one reached the AFCCG multiple times and the other was close to winning a Super Bowl.

IMO the MVP has primarily been a quarterback award for a long time now. Occasionally you get a running back who wins it like Thurman Thomas in 1991 or Emmitt Smih in 1993,

This list is pretty revealing. Since 1986, every year it has been a quarterback win it or a rare year where a running back gets it.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Football_League_Most_Valuable_Player_Award

Kinda hard to believe that there has only been 2 defensive players in history get an MVP.

  16. Dan Marino easily. Of this entire poll, he is the only one who truly did not have a team built around him.

Elway in the 80's had the "3 amigos" supporting cast at wide receiver - Vance Johnson, Mark Jackson and Rickey Nattiel. In the 90's after some mediocre years, the Broncos came back loaded with Terrell Davis, Shannon Sharpe, Ed McAffrey and that late 90's Denver defense was incredible.

Joe Montana and Steve Young played on the same 49ers team that was ridiculously loaded in both eras. Montana's team went 15-1 in 1984 before they even got Jerry Rice. Both of them always had great running backs (Montana had Roger Craig, Young had Ricky Watters). The 49ers were always a force to be reckoned with in those eras.

So it has to be Dan Marino. In 17 years, he only ever had one season with a running back who rushed over 1,000 yards. Go through the Dolphins draft history in his prime and they drafted bust after bust in the early rounds, thus setting him up to fail. His best supporting cast was probably Mark Clayton and Mark Duper, the "Marks Brothers" as they were called. They were good receivers, but were not the elite Hall of Fame level of guys like Jerry Rice or Art Monk in that era. And the Dolphins defenses with Marino were absolutely terrible. Of any QB in history, he is easily the one who's team let him down the absolute most by not building a team around him.
