He won't be back and if he did return, it would be for the worst.

He will be 37 years old very soon, has a history of bad injuries that have shortened his last two seasons. The Cowboys have the best young quarterback in the league by a mile. Romo couldn't have passed the torch to a better candidate, Dak is going to be awesome for years to come in Dallas (as long as Jerry Jones don't manage to screw it all up for him)

Happy retirement...A Sean Payton find, decent quarterback in his prime, always plagued from horrible mismanagement from a team owned by Jerry Jones.

That would be the best decision they can make. We all know Brees will do fine, make great plays and keep the games competitive. He just needs a freaking defense again like years ago to close out.

If the Saints had a better defense, they would be in the playoffs. Last year, Brees' heroics alone won several key games, but we also lost some close ones where he played lights out and our defense couldn't get it together. It's a really shame, cause without Brees, this would be a 2-14 or 3-13 team.

The secondary has been the most glaring issue the past couple years. We haven't had play makers in the back field, occasionally we can get a blitz going and our front can look decent every now and then.

Wait......it can't officially be over can it be? Oh come on, we need stuff to talk about.:(

What about some funky draft day trade happening?

I don't know what will happen come draft day with trades or anything.

Rumors all around NOLA suggest the Saints are going heavy defense in this draft.

  4. Butler isn't going to be a Saint. This topic has pretty much died within the Saints community.

For those suggesting Richard Sherman, NO...And us Saints fans do not want him either. He could easily be another Brandon Browner, cause I'm sure he isn't going to get away with his rough style of play once he leaves Seattle. We've been there, done that with Browner, not happening again.

Don't worry pal, wouldn't leave you to be isolated as the single lone Favre fan on this site. That would be cruel if I did that.

To imply something, means you did not have to say exactly that. No arguement there, but you did say Romo has absolutely no value. Which when on the field, he clearly does have value. Some even think he could be the difference for a SB push for qb needy teams.

Romo's body is breaking down. He will be 37 years old within this month. He's had several injuries in the past few years and injuries have put him on the sidelines the last two years.

The only way he could make a SB push for any team needing a QB, is if he some how stays 100% healthy, but that is almost asking for too much with a player who has a history of injury problems.

  7.

    Totally different situation.

The Colts got to tank for the #1 overall draft pick in 2011. To my belief, Manning was as good as gone the minute Polian decided to go with Painter and bring in a washed up Kerry Collins. That was a marvelous tank job and it worked effectively.

When Dallas selected Dak Prescott last year, no one expected him to turn out to be great. Many people graded the Cowboys with a bad draft due to Ezekiel Elliot's behavior issues and many thought Dak wasn't going to be much of a factor. Last year, Dallas was lucky to hit on those draft picks. Take Dak off that team, they would've been 4-12 again. The Cowboys didn't tank, as without a starting QB weather it be Romo or Dak, they're a pretty average to awful team.

Yeah Faulk had 1 carry in the Playoffs and then sat out the rest of the Playoffs. I still don't have a clue why? He had turf toe for a while but complained about other injuries too. Then when he went to the Rams he was like the best ever in 1999 and 2000. That has just always bothered me.

Edge still out-gained him in yardage both of those seasons, so him being the best ever is subjective. IMO, the Rams success in the Greatest Show On Turf had more to do with Kurt Warner than anything else. Faulk still would've been effective without Warner, but in the SB, Warner won that game where Faulk was shut down entirely (and was shut down again in the 2001 SB)

Faulk is somewhat difficult to like in the media. Saints fans have never liked him cause the way he acted like a sore loser when the Rams went out in the first round of the 2000 playoffs.

Statistically and Longevity wise James was the best so you have a point. Dickerson had his best season in LA with the 2105 but I chose Dickerson because he put the Colts on the map in Indianapolis. We were garbage before we got him and by getting Dickerson nobody could no longer make fun of the Indy Colts. When Faulk played for us he always had nick knack injuries and would miss key games. If it wasn't his toe, it was his pinky, etc.. He was frustrating as a fan to root for. He wussed out in the 1995 Playoffs and sat out which I just cant get over because had he played the Colts would've ran through the AFC that season during the Playoffs. He let me down. James was great but was never the focal point of our team, Peyton and Marvin were more keyed on. Dickerson was always the focal point from 1987-1989 on our team because we had putrid QB's. Once James left we won the SB as well, showing right there he wasn't even needed to win the big one.

I see your point there. The Colts were a joke in Indy before Dickerson, known solely as the team that John Elway refused to play for.

I didn't know that about Faulk in 1995. Steve DeBerg played half of a season starting QB with a pin holding his finger together and was still throwing passes. Strange of Faulk to sit out, the Colts probably would've made the SB in that year. They were on a hell of a run late in the season. Harbaugh was in the MVP conversation with Favre and Emmitt Smith that year with his TD/INT ratio and the streak he was having of wins.

Best running back the Colts ever had. James went back to back as the NFL's rushing leader in 1999 and 2000, even edging out Marshall Faulk both times, including in Faulk's MVP season in 2000. (if you want to pick him over Faulk, there's a good reason why). James was averaging around 4.4-4.6 yards in his prime years.

Sad that he was gone by the time they won the SB, it would've been nice to see him get a ring on his finger.

I'd take him over both Eric Dickerson and Marshall Faulk; both of whom had the best years of their careers with the Rams.

Which reminds me...the trade years ago of Akiem Hicks for Michael Hoomanuwanui...made no sense. Basically traded a borderline pro-bowler on his rookie contract, under 30 years old, for a 3rd-4th string TE.

They traded away Jimmy Graham before that, which is why they needed a tight end at the time. The Graham trade is what truly made no sense, and neither the Saints or Seahawks benefited at all as they both greatly miss their former players.

  12.

Have you seen the Saints defense the past 3 years?

Worst in NFL history. Their passing defense has gotten worse each year despite already setting the bar high on being horrible in 2014.

We have absolutely zero playmakers in our secondary. Our best player in the secondary was Keenan Lewis a few years ago, who couldn't stay healthy and didn't quite recover from an injury. We overpaid Jarius Byrd who turned into a major free agency bust, and Brandon Browner was the absolute worst possible thing that could've ever happened to them. Our best player in that secondary last year was Kenny Vacarro which isn't saying much.

While I don't agree with going after Butler, he would be a major upgrade over anyone out there right now.

These stories are quite inaccurate BTW. The Butler talk went on last week. it's been reported that the Saints would not trade their high pick, and would've only traded for him if it could've been in giving a 2nd round pick. At this point I doubt Butler becomes a Saint since he's also talking to Houston and NE wants so much for him.

I also think the Saints are going to feel some urgency and they did fire several assistant coaches to end the season. In their division they have the Bucs, dancing and complaining Cam and the biggest chokers on the planet (Falcons). And that division seems to change with winner every year.

Urgency is definitely there. This is a win or bust situation for the Saints since Sean Payton's future with the team is on the line. Now that Fisher is out of the league, Sean Payton is the new "7-9 coach". Last year, Brees played lights out, had the absolute best season of his career since his peak in 2011, and we went 7-9. The urgency also is because of him. Brees isn't getting any younger. If they want to try and make one last run in the following years, they have to desperately get it together this coming season.

That actually sounds funny but it's true. Seattle gets BIG TIME CALLS in Seattle. And we saw it vs. Atlanta last year in Seattle.

And the Buffalo game too where Sherman tried to kill the field goal kicker and no call.

This past year, Seattle was heavily penalized repeatedly against the Saints on the road in the Superdome. They lost that game and Sherman complained about the refs. They also had similar calls against Green Bay. When Seattle is at home, they can get away with murder.

Losers: Patriots. They traded for Stone Hands. lmaolmaolmao

And gave up a draft pick to the Saints for their most overrated receiver. lmao

The love affair with Brandin Cooks will end the minute he has a bad game against a decent corner/safety or when he demands to be paid big money since his ego is through the roof.

Matt Ryan has played 150 NFL games. Let's not put too much focus on 1 half over the rest of his track record, especially when he was going against arguably the greatest defensive coach of all time.

And even though it was one of the worst chokes ever, Falcons did have one of the best offenses of all time and managed to do that with fairly pass heavy offense.

Doesn't make much sense to hold SB 48 a lot against Peyton, either.

The Falcons have a history of choking. Go look at Matt Ryan's playoff record if you don't believe me.

He has only THREE playoff wins, and all of them are at home. It took that team until 2012 to finally win a playoff game with him, and thank their lucky stars that Pete Carroll called a timeout trying to ice the kicker in what was a miss, and later corrected with the next attempt.

This year, they avoided Dallas and got a beat up, mediocre GB team that had no business being there. All after playing a Seattle team with no offense.

Atlanta does not make the playoffs consistently every year. When they do, it's when they get a weak schedule. This year, the Falcons had among the top 3 one of the weakest schedules in the league playing the AFC West and NFC West, and yet they barely went 11-5 with that schedule. Same thing in 2012 and 2010, they played easy weak schedules, went 13-3, and in 2010 they got stomped in the ground in the first round, and then in 2012 needed Pete Carroll to screw around and give them a playoff win.

Watch next year when Ryan regresses back to being a generic mediocre quarterback and the Falcons go 8-8 or worse. Carolina lost a SB being 15-1 and had far greater depth of a team and we saw what happened to them after. The Falcons made the SB on a fluke with a weak schedule, the 27th ranked defense, and that historically great offense didn't save them in the end. Their offense was good, but I'll still take 2013 Denver, 2011 New Orleans, 2007 NE, and 2001 St Louis over them.

    He played defense?

All they had to do was run the ball....That choke job is more on the offense and Kyle Shanahan than the Falcons defense. Still by the end of that game, their defense did it's job when everyone doubted them. Matt Ryan's passing stats were more important than handing the ball off to DeVonte Freeman, a running back who broke a 40 yard run on his first carry in that game. The Falcons led by 25 points, and still only called 19 run plays the entire game. They deserved to lose.

  17.

    No.

Every good looking QB eventually is compared to Dan Marino at least once.

Marino played in an era where the passing stats were not inflated yet. In today's age, passing stats are so inflated that even Blake Bortles and Ryan Tannehill can put up "Marino numbers" any given Sunday. Your average QB throwing for 300+ yards and 3 TD's is doing Marino numbers. Any QB today can be compared to Marino, where in his era it was truly impressive when he put up a 5,000 yard season with 45+ TD's in 1984, or when he would throw for crazy numbers in a single game.

Luck does not play like Marino at all. Marino became the shining example of pocket passers. Luck is more mobile in the pocket to be compared to that.

Oh no, your division is still the worst in football and has been since the division realignment in 2002. How many AFC South teams have reached the AFCCG besides the Colts? None. Until the wheels came off this team, they benefited from 6 easy wins against the division and 5 easy wins against bad opponents to make an 11-5 record. Since Grigson run your team in the ground, the Colts finished 3rd place in the AFC South last year.

Every year, someone tries to "prove" the AFC South is some juggernaut tough competitive division, but fact remains that it never has been. It could be if Coughlin fixes things up in Jax, and if  Houston finds a quarterback and if Tennessee continues to hit on their draft picks of building a team around Mariota.
