Well I mean Ryan was the 2nd best QB in football this year, and was a pure stud, but all in all....Luck is the better of the 2. With that said though, Matt Ryan is still IMO a top tier franchise QB. And I think Atlanta is here to stay as long as he's there.

Atlanta isn't a consistent team. They post a winning record every few years when they have a weak schedule. See 2010 and 2012, where they went 13-3 both those years playing cupcakes, and then got throttled in the playoffs. This year, everything fell in their favor. They got a weak Seattle team in the first round, and then avoided going on the road into Dallas to face a great offense, and instead got a crappy Packers team who really had no business being there, as it showed with the final score. Even in the SB, everything went their way and they did everything to screw it all up.

I doubt they'll get breaks like that again next year. Carolina went 15-1 and then 6-10 the next year, and this Falcons team don't have near the defensive depth that Carolina had.

Andrew Luck is a once in a generation talent. Not comparable to Matt Ryan. He is a top 5 QB and we're simply stupid for not putting playmakers all around him.

Matt Ryan is a generic talented quarterback, not much different from Stafford or Palmer. The average 'good' QB. He will be forgotten this up coming year when Atlanta goes back to being an average team. He is never going to sell close to the number of jerseys that Luck has sold, or become a household name like that.

Fun fact - Falcons fans still wear Michael Vick jerseys at home games. It wasn't until this past year, did we not hear their fans complaining about the tons of #7 jerseys popping up at home games.

Okay to be fair no we are not wasting him, not at the moment anyway. We just have to undo the damage Grigson did and it's already starting by dumping Stone Hands and Patrick Robinson. We might be able to win the division again this year since I don't know who or what is going to start at QB for the Texans, Titans are on the rise but have to beat us first and the Jags are like mystery meat every year who btw do live to play us......sad but true.

In the AFC there isn't much going on outside the Pats who everyone has penciled as a repeat champion but easier said then done in professional sports. Especially when your QB is almost 40.

So just be patient and hope we improve since we honestly can't get any worse on defense IMO.

Pair him with a better coach, give him a nice running back and he would be a lot better than he has been.

To Luck's defense, he hasn't gotten much help out of the team or management. An RB would definitely help him out, and not asking him to throw it 50 times per game.

I like the moves the Colts have made so far with Ballard in charge, and I am hoping the fans on here don't grow impatient and want overnight success. It's going to take longer than one night to undo the damage Grigson caused.

Cleveland would be better off finding their own QB in the draft and developing him to their system.

The Browns are already hinting at cutting Brock. It was never about making him the starter, they got a draft pick out of it.

They're looking at 22 total draft picks in the next two years. Cleveland for a change, is doing a decent job managing the draft. Let's hope they make good picks and finally make something happen.

You forget that his attitude will be left at the door when he walks through the NE office, if he starts acting up BB will simply bench him. No one is more important than the team, a lot of people forget that.

That's a huge IF....We dealt with Cooks last year. I hope you don't have to deal with the same problems since the Pats gave up draft picks for him. I'm hoping this works out for both teams, as I can see Cooks being extremely useful to the Pats as long as he keeps his attitude in check and he remains in the slot position.

He will be a decent receiver in the slot position and that's about it. The Saints tried everything with him in the past three years, and the slot was the only thing he excelled in. He was quite possibly, the worst punt returner we ever had, which is saying a lot for how bad our special teams have been since we lost Darren Sproles. Much is made of his jaw dropping stats, but stats do not always tell the entire story. Lance Moore and Robert Meachem put up decent stats every year in our system, and no one really knows those names outside of Saints fans. Last year, we had a rookie (Michael Thomas) break 1,000+ receiving yards and with 9 touchdowns, so Cooks stats don't tell everything. Drew Brees can push great production out of receivers.

The Saints came out OK, regardless what many negative comments are saying. Cooks and his agent are convinced he is the next Julio Jones. Had we not traded him, we would've ended up having to pay him a massive contract after 2017 and it simply is not worth it for a diva wide receiver who complains when he don't get enough passes thrown to him. Cooks was productive at times, but not nearly as much as he was hyped up to be. Last year, he was completely out-played by rookie Michael Thomas, and Thomas is who I expect to become the Saints #1 receiver since he was phenomenal last year.

Posted this in another thread regarding the trade. It's good news for New Orleans, I hope he works out for the Pats as I think they will know how to use him.

This is a great move for the Saints. Brandin Cooks has been the most overrated receiver on our team since 2014 and last year he turned into a diva. Cooks had one game where he had zero passes thrown to him after the Rams double teamed him and took him out of the game. After that game, he threw a big fit in the press demanding to have balls thrown to him, so the next game (Detroit) our game plan was to get him the ball and we ended up losing that game where our offense was shut down. Cooks was targeted over 10 times in that specific game and we didn't score 20 points as the Lions seemed to know right away we were keying on him too much.

Cooks is a decent receiver only within in the slot. The Saints tried everything to make him a Jack of all trades type receiver like they used Colston for years, but Cooks never worked out. He's bad as a deep threat, he's even worse on end around trick run plays where he averaged a whooping 3.5 yards. His biggest problem is in coverage getting taken down by bigger defenders. If Cooks can't outrun a defender down the stretch, chances are he isn't going to catch that ball in contested man on man coverage. I don't know how NE plans to use him, but Cooks is deadly in the slot and just that. As long as they keep him there, he should be useful for them.

The Saints made the right move, and I couldn't be happier with getting draft picks. Last year Cooks was completely outplayed by rookie Michael Thomas who showed many signs of a vintage Marques Colston. My guess is that they will move Thomas as the new #1 receiver after how impressive he was last year. Willie Snead is staying and turned out to be a great find with his blocking abilities. The only weak link in the Saints offense is tight end Coby Fleener who often drops passes, but I am hoping with the return of Curtis Johnson at receiver's coach, maybe Fleener can take a step forward this year.

Despite criticisms to his behavior in recent times, Cooks will definitely be missed in N.O. as a fan favorite. Seen many #10 jerseys in the past year. Thanks for the memories.

Cleveland would stoop to a new level of stupid if they gave up that much for a guy that has started 2 games!

Cleveland actually has done fine recently with their trade to Houston. They have 11 picks each in the 2017 and 2018 draft. That's 20+ picks for the next two years. Time will tell if they do something good with this, one would think they're due for some good luck eventually.

The counter argument to this would be:

    2015 - Broncos

    2013 - Ravens

    2003 - Bucs

    2001 - Ravens

Not that I disagree with you, but there are examples where a great D has carried a team all the way without having a franchise QB. 2013 I might be tempted to take out as Joe Flacco got hot at the perfect time.

When I was putting this together I struggled off the top of my head the converse situation where a QB had carried an inept D all the way.

    To add to this:

1990 Giants - won the SB with a backup QB and #1 ranked defense that held the Bills to just 19 points in the SB.

Defenses are winning championships more and more in the modern NFL. The last several SB's have all been decided with major turnovers and defenses playing lights out at the right time. Even this past SB, the fumble and the Pats holding down the Falcons completely changed that game around.

  10.

    That answer is no.

8-8 team who finished 3rd in their division.

Defense is a completely wreck. Offense is good when playing horrible teams, not so much when they have to play a legitimate defense.

Need lots of help all around.

The real question should be, will Houston be contenders if they get their offense together?

  11.

He's done. They have a locker room cancer called OBJ....Partying with Biebz and on that boat in south beach didn't help them focus in the playoffs.

Cruz was decent until he started hanging around OBJ and became a showboating look-at-me player.

Hopefully we don't have to deal with them making the playoffs again and the idea that they some how can beat NE without Tom Coughlin there. If Coughlin is there, no partying in Miami.

There's that word again...Witch hunt. Was Brady asked to float on water? How bout burned at the stake for hearing voices in his head? No, eh.

Ah yes, the proclamation/inference that Atlanta got off easy for pumping in crowd noise. No, special treatment here because Arthur Blank acknowledged the infraction, paid the fine, & suspended staff members responsible for it.

Roger makes a ridiculous salary. Hades, I'll stand there & get booed in Houston, TX if it means I get a salary of $44,000,000 per yr. Trust me, Roger could care less about NE's animosity toward him. You won again. Bask in the deja vu championship glow my man.

He was suspended 4 games for something that turned out to be bogus. Look what Goodell did to the Saints - several players suspended, we lost our coach for an entire season and GM for half the season.

Goodell is pretty good at witch hunts in sports. What he did to the Pats and Saints was ridiculous, but hey, it's created an immortal little brotherly bond between the two of us. They got to humiliate Goodell and defeat our arch-rival in the absolute most heart-crushing way possible, hats off to them. We owe them one after that.

I don't think pumping in crowd noise is something to compare that to. Unless they had players and/or coaches suspended and lost draft picks. Vikings and Colts are guilty for it too, Saints have been accused of crowd noise for years.

    NO should be at home

    Carolina in NE

    TB at home

    Altanta NE

The only NFC South team the Pats struggle with is the Saints.

Bill B has said before that he is glad he doesn't play them twice a year. Last time we played them, we blew a 10 point lead at the end of the game in Foxboro and let them come back to win. Saints/Pats have oddly matched up well for years. We have close games with them, but unless we field an actual defense, I don't see us beating them. We might make it close but that's it.

They'll whoop Atlanta, Carolina and Tampa Bay no problem.

I think it's way too difficult for any team to repeat as a champion in today's game.  Plus, Brady's gotta start showing signs of his age at some point....right.....?

This has been a topic that's come up several times over the years.

In the beginning of 2014 after the Chiefs whooped them, Brady looked done...last year, he looked like he was 25 years old again.

I think he's still got at least 3 years left in him.

In a way it was like 2003, Pats at 14-2 and NFC South team at 11-5, playing in Houston. And the following year the Pats played the SB vs. the Eagles.

    So Pats and Cowboys?

And both NFC South teams were miracle run Cinderellas. The Panthers in 2003 were 11-5 with 13 games decided by 7 points or less. The Falcons were 7-5 and then got their final wins against 4 of the worst defenses in the league...then avoided the one team who would've really tested them in the playoffs (Dallas) and got a mediocre Seahawks team and a 31st ranked pass defense in GB. Only difference is, Carolina won some road games in 2003 to get the SB and were heavy underdogs the entire way.

A Pats/Cowboys Super Bowl is what America deserves - the two most hated franchises of both conferences dueling for it in the big game. Can you imagine the ratings to this game? It would be a win-win either way. As hated as NE and Dallas are, they still have lots of fans. SB ticket prices dropped by 20% the minute Dallas was eliminated since all those rich Cowboys fans were thinking about going to Houston for it.

Dallas should've been there instead of Atlanta....GB did everything to blow that game and then Jason Garrett decided to outdo them, and win Coach of the Year for taking Elliot to the sidelines on the final drive.

Someone that can play man coverage very well, can pressure without blitzing, and can run the ball to control clock well enough, and dink and dunk just like Brady does in the playoffs, if they stay healthy, is the Kansas City Chiefs, they pose the best threat outside the Broncos with a veteran QB for the Patriots.

I really wanted Chiefs vs Pats in the AFCCG. That would've been the game to look for in the AFC since K.C. did have a pretty good defense with turnovers.
