  1. Yeah we'd be much better off with Vaughn starting instead of our second best CB.

based on what we've seen the past 3 games or so, Toler has done nothing spectacular and at best average. When they come out of the gate picking on a db, you know you've been exposed as a marginal player and yes I understand vonte is pretty good so that's why they do it. Toler hasn't stepped up since week 1 it seems
  2. Teams tend not to trade good lineman

I understand that but my real point is, I do not want to trade picks unless its someone of unusual circumstances. Seeing how poor our Oline has been for several years now, I really wished we would invest high picks in the Oline instead of trading for RB's or WR's. or we could go out on the FA market again this next offseason and pick up a mauler.
  3. Ok help me understand the line betting thing. At -2, the Colts would have to win by at least 3 points for me to win a wager if I bet on the Colts is that right? And to win by taking the Texans, all they would have to do is win the game outright or only lose by 1 point? Am I right?

I am a little surprised the line would be this low as well but I'm sure they are factoring in that its a common opponent, it's at Texas and no Reggie Wayne, Luck's security blanket.

  4. Rodgers is a taller and more physical possession guy.

He might be measurables but he either hasn't shown enough in practice or he is just another measurables guy to fall to the curb in the NFL. I would love to see a tall speedy thick WR in our offense and I am certain our coaches would too so if he was ready, they would have brought him up. Maybe they are saving him for he playoffs to limit film ;)
  5. Oh absolutely. I don't disagree with anything you said. I think DHB has improved his hands by leaps and bounds from last year. While he does have issues with his hands, I think he generally had a good game yesterday. The one throw near the endzone on the sideline wasn't registered as a drop, but as far as I'm concerned, that was a catchable ball. So his drops according to my estimation, are 2 all season long, for a drop percentage of 5.8% (drops/targets). That's solid considering his reputation.

That being said, I'm not sure he's capable of replacing reggie. I would love to see it, and would love to eat the crow if he proves me wrong. I'm not seeing yet. He's not as meticulous about his route running as Reggie is (but again, he has gotten much better as the seasons gone on).

In any event, I'm with you, we'll hear something in the next 24 (or 48 hours). It depends on Reggie's status first and formost, and then we'll see if we sign anyone or just bring the next man up.

Are you saying DHB has only dropped 2 catchable balls all year by your account? You haven't watched his games, he dropped more than 2 in the San Diego game alone I believe. He has had his issues with those hands.
  6. I disagree. Whalen gets covered to easily. It would be better to see What Rodgers has. I say cut reid and put both Rodgers and whalen in to see who does better.

i do agree with cutting Reed, as he has done NOTHING to warrant a job but Da'rick has shown what? He just has measurables and nothing else. Whalen, while not a special guy has great vacuum hands like a Welker.
  7. Come on now, the Colts just played the no.1 rush defense in the game going into week 7. I thought they looked very well considering that aspect. Richardson could have done better but he really didn't have anywhere to run. I definitely wasnt impressed with his turnover which led to points. He also needs to keep his feet moving and take less time to think. I think he over thinks and tat why he it's somewhat hesitant come out of the back. But one thing for sure he had nowhere to go. Yes, the Oline needs much work on opening holes.

My criticism is not just based from this game alone it just seems at times they have the wrong personnel in at the wrong times. For example, when you want to finish up the game and you want a pounder, why on earth would Brown be in and Richardson be on the bench or 1st and 15 having brown on the bench an Richardson handed the ball with a stacked box? Something's don't make sense to me always but I'm sure they have their reasons for what they do. I just feel like the coaches sometimes get lost in the play call and forget the personnel on the field.
  8. whalen wont cut it. He's a blair white. We have to see what Rodgers has or brazil will have to step up.

Blair white moved the chains when his number was called though, he did exactly what he was supposed to do. You do not need track stars and all pro athletes on the field in order to win, look at the pats for that model. You need a mix of guys to win match ups and to work with in themselves and the scheme. Whalen fills that role. Speed with DHB (but he is with questionable hands), speed with TY (again young and inconsistent) and Fleener (who knows what he will do). Add in Donald brown to catch out of the backfield and Richardson (who was supposed to have been a good pass catcher). Whalen makes sense in possession guy to complete a package group of receivers on the field at any one time. Nobody is coming in and replacing Reggie and his leadership as well as production, all you can hope is the next guy can help and elevate the other receivers on the field as well.
  9. Our interior needs help. Another G which hopefully can be Thomas when he's healthy next year and a center whether that's Holmes or someone else. It seems to me to that we gotta get better at getting to the second level and picking up those blocks.

It's way more than getting to the second level, it's allowing the RB out of the backfield. We certainly need improvement of the RG and C next year. I'm not optimistic that Holmes is going to be that guy at this point if he hasn't sniffed any playing time with as bad as our RG and center have been and we keep using Mcfly and Link at those spots along with Satele.
  10. Andrew luck 3 throwing TD's and 1 running TD with zero interceptions and no fumbles. 200+ yards and not needing to just throw to catch up, I'd say he played pretty good for the situation he was in. Perhaps had the colts been behind all night, his passing yards would have been up but he didn't have to take the risky throws, he was better served in taking what was there and letting the defense hold serve because unlike last week and that ignorant coaching decision to punt it away and let the defense hold, they proved they could do it this game. Stats are for fantasy game play and not indicative of how well a player is always.

  11. Quite honestly, none of the receivers have shown they can carry the team consistently. TY for as much as I love his big play ability hasn't played well last few games. DHB, well we know he has faults in his game and Fleener is just frustrating with his game. Da'rick is just another "we hope his measurables come to his game on the field" kinda player. Whalen was the only guy who caught balls and ran good solid routes. Not flashy at all, a possession type guy but exactly what we need. Luck needs that guy he can trust to just go down and get the 5 yards or 11 yards and get down. If Wayne can't get back, I think Whalen fits for the puzzle the offense needs.

  12. But again, I am not just picking out this game alone, as an overall body of work, I have not been impressed with how/when they have used these backs at times. It's like they believe they have an Oline who can blow off the ball and manhandle the other side when we know the middle for sure is weak. Pep is new to the NFL but he has to adapt a little better and if you are going to have 2 rb's playing at times, you better get them in under the correct situational use and I don't feel they are doing that consistent enough...yet. Time=learning.

  13. I know we don't have the greatest Oline but the coaches have to figure out how to best use Richardson and mix in Brown better if we plan on elevating the level of play even more. Predictable and uncreative IMO on the coaches. That's my only complaint to this game, and many of our others is the use and situations they use these two guys.

What I would like to see, split both rb's in the backfield when trying to salt a game, that way the teams can key on just one guy and either can go out wide to confuse an get mismatches. Gotta quit the tight formations to run in and expect to blow people off the ball with 9 man fronts. We aren't that strong up front.

Rant off. And yes, we won.

  14. Reed has never been kept for his WR skills. My guess is if Reggie is down for some time Griff Whalen is going to get a call.

You are probably right, I kinda forgot about Whalen. Whalen was a very good possession guy and just found holes in the defense and like Reggie, catches most everything thrown at him. He should get the call and practice over the next two weeks.
  15. Time to see what the future WR group has to offer. TY, Brazzil,DHB and Fleener. Guys will have to step up the game and see if these are the future players who can step up to the plate. Rodgers would be a great addition to the roster as well and see if he can play in the NFL or is he just a measurables guy?

    God I hope RW's career isn't over :(

  16. We seem last night what a pass rush does for a secondary. We have Davis who is a great addition and Landry is a great player and we all know what Bethea brings now we have to figure out does Butler fill the bill for a solid option at the other corner spot and Toler, what is this guys role for the team, he clearly is being picked on and not meeting the challenge on most tests but he has talent. Is it best used in the slot and can our coaches find it?
