  1. I think currently there are 3 QBs playing at an elite level. Peyton, Brees, and Rodgers. Brady has fallen off imo. Over the last 19 games, including the playoffs, Brady had not looked amazing. He's still a top 10 qb, but I don't think he's in that elite category anymore.

  2. Well this is really depressing

I don't doubt that AP was doing what he had been taught. But, him admitting that it went further than he intended and he felt bad, to me indicates that he acted out of anger rather than acting to teach the child.

Spanking and physical punishment in general are the least effective means to teaching good behavior. They are effective at teaching fear, and that should not be what you want your child to remember.

Fearing their parent. Children should respect and admire their parents.....and look to them for example and guidance.

several in this thread have stated that they were punished in this way and that it did them good. I was punished in this way some, not much and not to this extent but when I think of it, I don't remember what I did wrong, I only remember being hit.

AP needs to unlearn how he was raised and learn some more effective means of discipline.

Children can be extremely frustrating but as an adult, you are responsible for teaching as well as protecting.

Anyway, I find it somewhat strange that this went to a grand jury for indictment. Not sure if this is usual in cases like this. Maybe they felt they needed it given the popularity of the person they were indicting. If so, I also find that depressing.

Children are beaten and abused every day. Maybe this will help all of us understand that and care about doing something about it.

Let the courts figure out the best way to make this right.

Grand juries are actually often used in cases like these. The goal is to protect the child and a grand jury is often the best way of doing so. T only thing out of the norm is that Peterson testified before them. That is unusual, as you normally don't want the defendant knowing the grand jury is happening.

  3. It's funny, black men are forever being accused of being bad fathers or absentee fathers or something of that ilk but when a successful black man is present in his child's life and disciplines him, he gets indicted. What a world we live in.

Being an abusive father does not count as being present. Just because AP thought he was doing the "right thing" doesn't make it so.

  4. Good night man. What is going on? I knew Peterson had a bunch of kids, possibly 7 and atleast 5, but I thought he was a good guy.

Next thing you know luck is going to be caught with a prostitute that Irsay provided him in one of Irsay's houses he gives away.

Only reason I'm still a fan of football is that I know there are guys like Luck, Peyton, Reggie, and hundreds of other players who are great human beings. Not everyone is some type of criminal, monster. But boy, this week sure has been depressing. The NFL was a small escape from the ugliness that occurs in the world on a daily basis. Now the NFL is the posterchild for this ugliness.

  5. I was spanked as a kid myself & I think I turned okay with no felonies on my record to speak of that includes no law infringements of any kind BTW aside from a non moving ticket violation once. I stayed parked too long in a 2 hour disability spot. The cop marked my tire & when he came back later, I had a ticket on my windshield.

It really troubles me how tabloid TMZ journalistic amateur reporters are trying to alter the debate negatively on abuse before all the events of this incident are fully known as others have correctly stated.

Spanking is beneficial to a young child because fear & some reasonable pain & discomfort can be instrumental in raising a child into a well adjusted adult. It worked wonders for me & don't confuse physical abuse with necessary discipline either thank you. JMO.

Idk what more information we need. Peterskn has ADMITTED to it. He's turning himself in. There are horrific pictures that support it. I've heard some of the kid's testimony, it is so sad. This wasn't discipline, it was abuse to a 4 year old defenseless child. And there's nothing to support the mother coached the kid to say what he did. She had a great relationship with AP and the injuries were found out when she took him to a regularly scheduled doctor's visit. The doctor described the injuries as "child abuse" on his report. I can't see what new information is going to come to light that can possibly make this all seem better.

  6. I agree with this. I thought someone said the child was 11....???

The sources I've read have said 4 years old. The pictures are from TMZ. I'm not posting the link because I don't know if it is against the code of conduct and honestly I just don't feel comfortable doing so. It looks like a kid who was riding a bike, hit something, flew off it and landed on some jagged rocks, and got cuts and scrapes that way. I have never been spanked so I'm not sure how the "okay" spanking is supposed to look, but I can't imagine it looks like the injuries in those pictures.

  7. I don't know if everyone has seen the pictures of the injuries, _but they're pretty damning. He's a 4 year old kid...there is no excuse for doing that to a kid that young and so violently. I'm not against spanking, but that type of punishment method should never be done in a way that marks are left on the child. If you're leaving marks, you're doing it violently and it's abuse.

  8. Little bit of an overstatement, as I don't think any of the remaining starters are actually top five at their positions, but your point is well taken. Fact remains that they gave up five sacks to Jax last week, so the line may be an issue for them. Their top interior back-up (Tobin) is still too injured to play, so they're scraping the bottom of their barrell, but they're lucky that it was a relatively deep barrell to begin with. I expect some fairly quick passes to help Foles in the event of shaky Pass Protection. However, the Colts will have to show they can pressure the passer without blitzing before they would change their normal gameplan - we don't have a reputation as a good pass rushing team without Mathis...

It's not really an overstatement. Peters is the best or second best left tackle in football. His pass blocking is very good, but there is not a single tackle I can think who creates more massive holes than him in the run game. Kelce is a top 3 center and honestly I would take him before any other center playing right now. Heremans might not be be top 5, but of he isn't he's close. When that line is healthy, Heremans is the weakest link but only because the other guys are so outstanding. He played superbly this past Sunday. The line wasn't at fault for most of the snaps. Foles just held onto the ball way too long. You could see that a sack or fumble was coming since 5 seconds had gone by and Foles still hadn't made up his mind where he wanted to throw the ball. Their is some concern about how well the back ups will play, but they looked solid when they came in last week and didn't give up any sacks.

Gamelan-wise, I think the colts should focus more on finding a way to cover their tight ends. The Eagles use Celek and Ertz more effectively than the Broncos use Julius, which is a scary thought. Without Robert, I don't really see Foles being rushed. He'll have time but his decision making is still suspect. He likes to dump off passes to McCoy when in trouble so we should always have someone keying in on him. McCoy is dangerous in space, but isn't much of a route runner. It'll be interesting to see how Chip uses Sproles in the passing game and if he puts sproles and mccoy on the field at the same time. I don't think we could handle that matchup.

  9. But O-line was their strength ...don't assume the backups cant play

,and their skill guys smoked JAX even after those injuries, right?

Their RT was a back up for Lane Johnson. The backup wasn't good anyway so losing him isn't a big deal. Evan Mathis is arguably the best LG in Football. Losing him hurts. But like you said, the Eagles o-line was still dominant for a whole half after the injuries. The 3 starters playing this week are all top 5 or top 3 at their positions. I don't understand why people think we'll win because of a poor eagles line. We'll win because Foles blows it. Guys will still be running wide open, running backs will still have lanes to run through. Foles and a suspect secondary is the weakness on that team.

  10. That's high....they're almost daring you to put money on KC..

The Chiefs must be all jacked up for the spread to be that high.

over-under at 52 seems like a safer bet

Which way on the over under lol. I think that's a tough line. Broncos will score but I can see KC only putting up 10 point or getting shutout.
  11. I think the Jets will beat the Packers, GB o-line is not good.

It actually protected Rodgers pretty well considering that they were playing against Seattle IN Seattle. Jets don't have any decent CBs. Rodgers should tear them up. And the Jets offense is pretty terrible

  12. I don't think you can throw Rivers in as being like Romo when Eli Manning is still roaming around, and looking much more Romoesque. Or is it the other way around?

Is Eli really Romo-esque though? Eli's just been outright bad the last couple years, especially last. Romo and Rivers have actually been pretty good to great at times. But both imo have the tendency to make a bad play in th 4th quarter when they're winning (and have usually just played brilliantly), when no play was really needed at the time. They'll commit a huge mental mistake that just has you scratching your head and it costs the team the win. That's what Romo-esque means to me.

  13. Eagles missing Evan Mathis is huge and if their back-up RT can't play either that's also big. When Mathis is in there and Lane Johnson is playing, it's the best o-line in football by far. Game will come down to foles. Kelly's system causes guys to be wide open. If Foles doesn't miss them, we'll likely lose. If foles is shaky like he was last game then we'll win. We will need to score at least 30 to win. Eagles defense is solid, especially in the run game, but TY will have an opportunity to get behind the eagles defense and burn them.

  14. it was a bad play. Everyone knows that. No worse though than royal quitting his route giving up an int when in fg range and then resulting in cards getting 3 before the half. If u want an escape goat be my guest. Just remember next time peyton or tom or Andrew makes a similar mistake.

I'm not putting all the blame on Rivers. Just supporting my point that Rivers over the last few years has similar moments to Romo, the guy who gets crushed constantly by most fans and the media (not saying you). There's a reason Rivers and Romo aren't elite. Tom, Peyton, Aaron, and Brees don't make those mistakes when the game is won and they just have to go with the flow to win. Every QB makes mistakes, but what separates the top QBs, is that they almost never throw away games in the 4th quarter when it's in the bag.  Rivers didn't have to make a play there, all he had to do was NOT make a bad play.  I'm not saying Rivers isn't a top 10 QB. Just pointing out why he isn't in that top 4 group (imo he was there from 2007-2010) anymore.

  15. Let me clarify  that's it not all Rivers fault. His guys had drops. The defense could have stopped the Cardinals. But if he doesn't botch that snap, they score a field goal and the game is out of reach for the cardinals. That was a Romo-esque mistake and we all know it.

  16. You just made my point.  Now research the rest of the years.

I'm not saying over their whole careers. I use to fear Rivers. He was scary good. But if you go by the last three years, Rivers has made some really costly mistakes like Romo. Romo hasn't had a great o-line either and certainly has had as bad a defense as Rivers has had. He's had to carry his team on the back too.

But Rivers can be the hero now so let's see what happens.
