  1. It was interesting to hear the contrast in Cosell's remarks on Cam and Griffin. More or less reflects what I've witnessed and stated around here and elsewhere, though. Chud's doing something horribly wrong down in Charlotte and the Shanahans have seemingly done a rather more impressive job of implementing the option into a real NFL offense.

You have to keep in mind that this offense wasn't really built from the ground up for Griffin. The fact of the matter is that Griffin perfectly fits what Mike Shanahan has been doing over the last two plus decades. RGIII just has certain outstanding attributes that have enabled us to add new looks and new wrinkles to that offense to make it even more dynamic. Luck would fit a lot of the stuff Shanahan loves to do as well but he would probably be a little less conducive to the college ball dynamic we've added because his speed doesn't stand out as much as Griffin's at an NFL level.

Or perhaps, a few may be wearing rose colored glasses. It troubles me that we have to discuss this RGIII and Luck comparison's on this forum. Luck is "our quarterback", not RGIII!

  2. The last line is not proven and I've heard is suggested Peyton did have a choice about if he was leaving or not. Most recently Jake Query on WNDE has suggested this on his radio show and that's not something you just toss out there unless you have something to back it up. Again I've said all along that it was an honest joint decision and not Peyton pleading with Irsay to let him stay and Irsay saying no like I think some Colts fans picture it as (not saying you are one of those people). I just don't think Colts fans like to think that maybe Peyton did want out of Indy. Personally I can't blame him because I don't think it was personal at all I think he looked at the fact this was a 2-14 team going into a rebuilding mood that was going to have to let go a lot of what little talent it had to start with due to cap hits. He's smart enough to know they were going into a rebuilding mood and I can see why a 36 year old QB who wants to win more championships before he was done didn't want to be apart of that.

Reggie Wayne would be useful to any QB in the NFL but he wanted to be in Indianapolis nothing wrong with that. In fact it made me respect Reggie a lot more. While not all our free agents had a choice about coming back some did and Reggie is the one who choose to stay.

I've also wondered if maybe Reggie stuck around a little bit to get out of Peyton's Shadow. What I mean by that is that all his career people would make the case Reggie was only good because he played on the other side of Marvin and with Peyton. Had he gone to New England which was the rumored team he turned down to stay in Indy then it would have been he put up great numbers with two Hall of Fame QBs. By Staying in Indianapolis no one is going to question his greatness if he's doing it with Luck. I am not saying that was some end all be all reason that kept him in Indy but I do think it might have been a factor.

I agree about it being a mutual decision. IMO, the sticking point with Manning agreeing to leave, was Luck. Irsay made it very vocal, the future #1 pick was coming to Indy and that pick was also NFL ready; consequently, ready to play. When you are a HOF, 4-MVP quarterback, you do not want to share that stage. I think Luck being the available pick, is the reason Peyton left...

  3. The game should have never came to that in the first place! This is a pattern. We saw the SAME thing last week but was fortunate to pull out the win. I put this on Chuck because that is one thing Bruce likes to do is air it out with his qbs so I'm sure Chuck is letting it be known (says it all the time) that he wants to run the ball but you still need to score.

You just posted my exact thoughts! Build a lead, run the ball, then lose it!

  4. Golly,

I didn't realize all you season ticket holders and attendees had such solutions to all the problems....

When you've been to 285+ Colts football games, then maybe you can tell me how to dress, use lotion, how much water to drink (at $4.50 a bottle), how big a hat to wear, and whether or not to take a parka into the stadium...

Oh, and how to dress, use lotion, drink liquids, how big a hat to wear, and whether or not to wear a parka when tailgating, too...

Our menu for sunday's tailgate is gonna be egg caserole, turkey bacon, assorted pastries and donuts, lots of finger foods (carrots, celery, cauliflower) with dip, chips with dip, fresh brownies, potatos au gratin, a little left over pulled pork from last week. Prolly grille some eggs to serve on warm, buttered English Muffins with bacon, cheese, and tomato. Liquid refreshements are BYO.....

Will be in the Blue Crew lot. C'mon down. Show us how it's done..we start cooking at 8:00.

If I didn't have to drive through all of the road contruction on Highway 31, would consider being there. Appears to be a great menu!

  5. I never rule out Colts vs Texans games. Their is no reason historically to do so. There is a feeling among some that we should rule it out, but we play you guys so late in the season this year who knows what will happen. Schaub is usually hurt around that time of year so I don't even know if the guy will be playing. I think offensively and defensively we will have a much better identity by the time we play that game. I think the odds are that you guys may win, but I'm not conceding those games.

    Great post!

  6. Yesterday the NFL network replayed clips from afternoon games. One clip was the Eagle's O-line and how much time Vick had to step back and throw. That clip exposed how pitiful our o-line really is. Luck had to scramble a lot yesterday...hopefully this team will look a lot different at the end of the regular season.

  7. The local TV station WNDY did not televise the game; however, it was on the Fox Network with Brian Billick...perhaps someone on here can explain the ins and outs, as it applies to televising rules. Also, I went to a sold out game and noted several empty seats...assumed that was common among regular ticket holders.

  8. First learn walk..then learn fly..Nature's rule Daniel-san..not mine...

That really applies to the Colts...They are right now taking their first steps....it will take time to grow, just as anything else in life.

Some people forget that with anything new, it takes time to grow and develop...Give the Colts time. in the end, the rewards will be great.

    Agree!

Also, on the positive side...if you watched the beginning of that game, The Colts appeared aggressive and confident...after a few bad plays they appeared to fall apart. Even though the coach does not care for the reference "we are in rebuilding mode"; at times with all of the rookies still going through their growing pains, that is exactly what is going to happen. How about that Reggie Wayne? Did he not step up and display professionalism necessary for the rookie’s growth? .
