What was his Quick Reaction after this past game? Is there a follow up to this article?

Great question! No follow up article, but he was having to defend himself in the comment section on some of the later articles for the issues he brought up.

I'm not saying Hoyer is better by any means, but he does lead receivers with the ball more than Jacoby does.

  2. I feel like a broken record, but Hines is a WR. It's way too (painfully) obvious when he's in the game, what's going to happen. He's either getting the ball thrown to him, or he's running up the middle for either a loss or up to 3 yards.

Especially with our lack of WR help right now, line him up at WR already!

Also, try throwing to Mack more than once a game for crying out loud.

Mack needs to quit dancing back there and just hit the jets as soon as he gets the ball when running up the middle as well. The holes that used to be there, aren't there anymore for whatever reason. When he runs to the outside it only works when a guard or center is pulling and he waits for them to block. Maddening to watch.

  3. Getting pretty tired of watching the same scenario play out time after time.

    Run on 1st down.

Pass for 3-4 yards on 2nd and 3rd. (one which will be dropped, or overthrown)

My absolute favorite is we need 9 yards for the first, so let's throw a (late) 6 yard pass to a receiver who is not in motion, or a comeback route.

  4. Indianapolis Pretenders. They've certainly fooled me into thinking they are better than they really are.

Colts record is 0-7 without TY. This plainly shows you have a massive WR problem.

Was getting rid of Dave DeGugliemo as the offensive line coach the biggest mistake ever? How is the O-Line getting manhandled on a consistent basis all of the sudden?

How can they not run the ball all of the sudden????

WHERE IS THE PASS RUSH?? It was the freaking Dolphins. Guess who their O-Line coach is?

  5. Hoyer does have touch on the ball, but doesn't not have the arm to be throwing into these tight windows that he was trying all day. Esp double coverage more than once.

Some really, really bad throws out there today.

If you are going to put a gunslinger (w/o the arm) in there, at least let Kelly try and see what you have in him.

I agree it's a small sample size, but Jacoby also didn't play that much in the Steelers game.

I wrote this comment in the comment section because I believe it's true (as much as I hate giving props to Tom):

Jacoby learned how to escape the pocket from Luck
He learned how command a huddle from Brady
Now he needs to learn anticipation from Hoyer

In this "we need everything right now" society, I think we all forget that Brissett really hasn’t played that much. He’ll get better.

    Anyways, on with the story:

In Brett Mock’s most recent Quick Reaction article, he ruffled some feathers when he wrote:

One final thought, if those who have been confused about the quarterback debate heading into this game don’t now understand the reason for the debate, I don’t really have much I can say.

Then he proceeded to say a lot.

His point wasn’t whether one QB is better than the other, but rather that they both have different strengths and weaknesses that makes it difficult to say which one would perform better on the current team.

It now comes down to the question of — would the ultra conservative, slow to get through progressions, mistake avoiding Brissett give the Colts a better chance than the more aggressive, more productive Hoyer.

Who knows? But the debate about whether Brissett is the long-term answer shouldn’t be difficult to understand at this point.

I’m not sure why there was so much blow-back to those fairly innocuous statements, but one specific point he made resonated with me:

Brian Hoyer showed . . . the ability to throw players open before they break on routes.

This has been my main knock on Jacoby Brissett. He tends to only throw to receivers that are already open, resulting in short throws. He seems hesitant to stretch the field.

Open up the link to read on. I included one pic from each QB from the article - you can see the rest here:

    JACOBY BRISSETT (4/5 59 yds, 0 TD, 0 INT)

Notice that on all of Brissett’s passes, the receiver is wiiiiiide open.

    Pass 1 - 1st Qtr, 1st & 10 (Shotgun) J.Brissett pass short left to Z.Pascal to PIT 27 for 8 yards (S.Nelson).

No defender within 5 yards and that is the last pass attempt on this drive.

    BRIAN HOYER (3/5 39 yds, 1 TD, 1 INT)

    Pass 1 - 2nd Qtr, 3rd & 11 (12:02) (Shotgun) B.Hoyer pass short middle to J.Doyle for 11 yards, TOUCHDOWN.

Doyle was just starting his break and about to lose his defender when Hoyer starts his wind-up. I think this is a pass that Brissett eventually throws, just not nearly as early as Hoyer did.

What bothers me most about Antonio Cromartie's case is this:

You can't just show up to work, defy your boss's wishes, & go you know what? My head coach told me not to kneel during the NATL. Anthem. Ah screw him, I'm gonna exercise my freedom of choice, embarrass my organization, & then wonder they now refuse to pay me.

Your job Antonio was to play football & intercept passes. You can protest whatever injustice you want on the weekend or your day off. You can't just go over your boss's head, refuse to follow their firmly worded suggestion, & not expect repercussions man. SMH.

And another thing--If you make the decision to create 14 children, you better plan ahead & be in a position to provide for them sir. Use protection perhaps or inquire about a vasectomy in order to put a lid on future defendants. Eventually, you knew you'd have to pay the piper man. Get real dude.

Being responsible for that many children is a massive undertaking. It might have been fun bringing them into the world, but at the end of the day, you need to grow up, be a man, & figure this out already. The time for deflection & excuses is over sir.
