The drive after Williams scored we threw three passes and went three and out. That is what I am talking about. Why did we throw three passes when the previous drive we just ran it down their throat. Throw a run in that drive.
I could not understand it.
The Texans had no answer to the run at that time. It was automatic 4 or 5 yards just handing it off....But he calls 3 pass plays? ...

Remember when Sam Darnold had the game against the Patriots where he said he was seeing ghosts. This game reminded me of that game. It does seem they might of mixed things up and confused him. He wasn’t sure what he was seeing. It just didn’t feel like he was flat out missing guys. You could see it in his face he wasn’t sure about what he was seeing. Not a excuse but I hate short weeks.

Had Doyle wide open for a 20 yard gain.
I have been a big Brissett supporter.
But I almost can't believe my eyes.
Doyle could not be more wide open. Brissett is not pressured, and appears to be looking right at Doyle, but he doesn't throw the ball?
I am shocked. This is inexcusable.

What does vindication look like in your eyes?
Most QBs in the league can have a great game. What separates the elite from the great and the great from the good and the good from the not so good is consistency. In my eyes vindication would look like a consistently high level of performance over month or two... what's the chance this happens with Brissett? It looks like this:
Someday, even you will be satisfied with Jacoby Brissett as the Cotls QB.

Since he has plenty of time, what are people saying he is looking at? That he watches his first read for four seconds then when that receiver doesn't come open he checks down or runs?
This is my thinking as well.
I believe that Jacoby Brissett will vindicated in the near future.

Woods played well for the Colts last year no doubt. But he was not the sole reason for the D playing well, especially against the run.
Of course not. I just listed 5 guys that played lights out against the run?
Are you low on caffeine?
Anyway, I'm glad Stewart is playing well. The Colts really need him. I'll try and notice him more tonight.

I think people's expectations of Hunt are inflated because he started off last year and got 4 or 5 sacks in the first 3 games.
I was thinking more about tackles for loss.
Last year the Colts were #2 in the NFL in tackling runners for loss with 108.
Hunt had 14. Along with Sheard, Autry, Walker, and Leonard, Colts were constantly getting into the backfield.
I thought Woods clogging the middle had a lot to do with it.

The Colts have 26 total TDs on the year.
24 of those TDs are red zone TDs.
The Colts are similar to the Seahawks, Rams, and Saints in efficiently moving into the red zone and scoring TDs.
Seahawks have 31 TDs (2nd best through 10 games), 27 in the red zone, 4 from outside it.
Rams have 24 TDs. 21 red zone, 3 from outside
Saints have 22 TDs. 19 in the red zone, and 3 from outside it.
Interestingly the Patriot's offense has only 2 more TDs than the Colts (28). And although they are #1 in getting into the red zone, with 43 attempts, they've managed only 21 red zone TDs. They have scored 7 TDs from outside the red zone, and it's a good thing because they struggle in the red zone.
To add some perspective to the Colts offensive TDs (through 10 games) :
Seahawks 31 TDs (2nd in NFL) 27 red zone 4 outside
Patriots 28 TDs (10th) 21 red zone 7 outside
Colts 26 TDs (11th) 24 red zone 2 outside
Rams 24 TDs (14th) 21 red zone 3 outside
Saints 22 TDs (21st) 19 red zone 3 outside

I would like to know where we rank at time of possession.
Looking at these stats tells me we have a Top 10 offense.
Grinding out drives for 1st downs, wearing down defenses, is Good offense.
Having a QB with the right mentality (patience) to do this is huge.
A guy that could win a SB doing better than 3 touchdowns 7 int.'s in the SB run.#7 in TOP

Just want to pat myself on the back. I've been talking about Stewart for quite a while now. I think he officially moved into the starting lineup week 3. Even after a couple of preseason games I talked about how impressive Stewart was. The best Dline for the past 3 weeks has been Houston Stewart Hunt and Sheard. Sheard and Houston do a great job of setting the edge and Hunt and Stewart tie up the rest of the line to keep the LBers clean on running plays. On passing plays, Hunt and Stewart occupy enough blockers that often, Houston and Sheard have one on one battles to provide pressure on the QB.
I thought that last year Hunt excelled when playing next to Woods. Now that Stewart has settled in, going forward for the rest of the year, maybe we'll see more of the Hunt from last year

We can be certain that the NFL will do everything they possibly can to keep criminal charges from being filed.
This is the last thing they want.

Platoons are led by lieutenants. That minor issue aside - spot on, sir. :^)
I kind of thought that. I remembered from "Band of Brothers" When Lieutenant Winters was promoted to Captain he was taken off the line.....but AV is a "captain".... so I used the word.

We can agree to disagree. I don't think a K has the impact you think, especially when that kicker is not performing.
We've been a young team since 17. We have plenty of veteran leadership at key positions. AC on the OL, Mack is no longer a newbie and a vet in terms of RB age. TY is vet. Ebron and Doyle are vets. Houston a leader on the front 7. Desir in the DBs.
It's like a captain leading a platoon in war who can't shoot a beer bottle off a fence post from 10 feet away.
I'm surprised at how many people here don't know why AV is still on the team.
There is no one available now that would be an upgrade. All that is out there now is the very bottom of the barrel.
Why replace a bad kicker with another bad kicker? It makes no sense.

Throwing to a wide open receiver is GOOD! Especially since all others were covered!!
So he is supposed to throw open a different receiver?
I watched all plays he points out in the article. His next is this-
"Pass 2 - 1st Qtr, 1st & 10 (:50) (Shotgun) J.Brissett pass short left to J.Wilkins to IND 43 for 6 yards (S.Nelson, M.Fitzpatrick).
Big cushion on this throw as well." then shows closeup of receiver.
Well, All 22 shows that was the only good choice too!
Then the guy dusts off a deep pass because it was wiiiide open-
"Pass 3 - 1st Qtr, 2nd & 4 (:06) J.Brissett pass deep right to Z.Pascal pushed ob at PIT 39 for 18 yards (J.Haden).
Wide open. Big gain."
But, that was not target #1, JB threw it after seeing WR1 covered, found WR2 for gain as below-
JB hits his drop looking left- 2 targets, nobody open! (maybe flat check down is).
Hitches and looks right, spots Pascal separating and fires to the right.
You can see the ball (speck) at the Pitt 48 in the white sideline area.
Ball arrives
Hey wow folks! A progression! and a deep throw!
At this point I stopped, critique the guy, sure, but make sure it is true. And I didn't go looking for the 'bad' throws Hoyer had. I'm not that way. OTOH, this is a reason I have mentioned before that I don't trust those that post a pic and states that proves a narrative. Fortunately the author gave me the opportunity to fire up a Coaches Film session (All 22) on my NFL Game Pass/laptop and see a couple of these plays for myself in video.
Thanks for doing this.
Hopefully Brissett will start throwing more INTs (like Hoyer). That will prove that he is learning how to throw receivers open (like Hoyer can).

Um trade deadline has passed, can’t do anything now until March
Ya, I just realized that.... at seasons end though before the draft maybe?
-
Since the Dolphins are having a fire sale, I'd like to see the Colts trade a low pick for Jason Sanders, a 23 year old kicker who is in his 2nd year.
He is 47/48 X points 15/15 within 39 yds 10/14 40-49 yds 2/4 50 +
His kicks on Sunday were all straight down the middle and looked like they could hit 50 yds easy.
He is as automatic as can be within 40 yards, and being so young, he can work on consistency with longer kicks.
I know, Trade deadline is past.... but maybe before the draft.

With all due respect, that's lazy analysis. While I do think the Colts should look at possible replacement for Vinny, the game never falls on 1 player. The OL couldn't block today. Hoyer threw a brutal pick 6. None of that is Vinny's fault. Let's not blame Vinny for 2 losses this year when it comes down to the entire team performing or not
With all do respect, I think you are misusing the word "lazy".

Colts with a kicker who can make 43 yd field goals would be 7-1.
Colts with AV are 5-3.

Look, I don't trust Vinny much either, but the laces were in. Not many kickers are gonna make that at all.
His foot dug into the ground....that's why he missed so badly...maybe seeing the laces freaked him out......greatest of all time has to do better

Well duh. I’d also take any kicker in the league over Tucker when he has one of his few misses.
Ok.
I'll type slower.
The one with the fewest misses is the better kicker.
