My unpopular opinion about Brissett when listening to him in interviews is that he doesn't seem very personable. He just seems too arrogant or a little demeaning, reporters or not. I just get the overall feeling that if you approached him as a fan, he would probably brush you off or something. I hope I'm wrong, just my first impression of him.

My take is that he is just sincere ..... He's not fake.

His answers are not out of a can.

When he gets a "good" question, his face lights up. You can see in his eyes that he enjoys a good question because he loves the game.

I think he just has an honesty about him when it comes to stupid questions.

you can see some areas for improvement that can elevate Brissett to another level...

I saw a play where Ryan missed a wide open Jones in the end zone. I breathed a sigh of relief and was glad he didn't see it. I don't know how he missed it. Easy TD.

Ryan's INT was a terrible pass. I was surprised that he threw that pass.

Most people would say the Ryan is on "another level" you speak of.

Even the best QBs make mistakes here and there. I'm not saying that Brissett can't improve. Of course he can, and I believe he will.

I've seen Luck make more mistakes than I care to remember.

My point is, if you are looking for Brissett to play a mistake free game, every game, or most games, in your mind he will never achieve "another level".

It just killed me watching Atl receivers run 8-12 yds stop and turn around, as our DB's then just stood there waiting for them to catch the ball, and then closing in to tackle them. It happened time after time yesterday.  A weird coaching technique.

I thought maybe it was my imagination until I just read this.

    I saw it too.

The ball is in the air on its way to the receiver. Instead of closing fast on the receiver to break it up, dbs are just trotting along while watching the ball come down.

  4. I love Brissett, and I am not one bit surprised by what he has done so far.

But you are really comparing apples and oranges.

The O-line was bad at the beginning of last year, really bad.

    Now it's great.

Not to nit-pick, but just before Vinitieri made it 13-0, Brissett missed a wide open Hilton when he threw it away.... Go look. He should have had 3 TD's!

My issues were he held the ball too long, too often, seemed gunshy in doing so

I respect your opinion when it comes to judging QB play.

But Tenn. has a very good defense, and what if receivers just are not open? I like that Brissett doesn't seem to force passes. (I thought the pick was a poor decision because TY looked well covered to me)

Surely on some plays it was the case that no one was open. In those instances, what is the QB supposed to do?

I'm sure there were plays where he did not see open receivers, but were there a lot?

In the regular day to day .   Not long time veterans.    Do you think it was Grigsons call to cut Peyton?

    No.

But I do believe it was Bill Polian's decision to ship Marshall Faulk off to the Rams.

And that was a much more important decision and delicate situation than this.

No, Brissett didn't carry the game, but he played his role in a TEAM win.  I honestly think that's more important, at least for right now.

It was also important in 2006 when the Colt's went 4-0 in the post season on the legs of Addai and Rhodes, while Manning "managed" the games.

Manning ave 258 yds per playoff game , 3 TDs / 7 INTs  Passer rating of 70.5.

Addai/Rhodes combined for over 600 rushing yards in that post season.

That is the most post-season rushing yards from the running back position by any team since the Elway Broncos won the SB in the 1990's.

When did Brissett play one-on-one against any of those guys?

Last year the Jags QB Cody Kessler beat Andrew Luck 6-0. ...........I think that was the beginning of Luck's breakdown...............

Mariota has a 4-0 TD/INT ratio and a 112 passer rating. Colts are a Super Bowl team with him...according to the standard being set here.

And Andy Dalton has 729 passing yards!

Oh, but the Bengals have scored fewer points than the Colts.....

    ..... and are 0-2..........

But wouldn't it be thrilling to have all those yards?

Well you might want to watch it an 11th time.

What it looks like to me is that Cain is 1 1/2 to 2 yds clear of the defender and then almost has to completely stop at the 10 and the DB grabs his head as running past the now almost stationary WR. Ball lands at the 7.  Probably needed to be on the goal line.

Woefully underthrown ball.  I can't believe you don't see it.  Wierd.

I watched it an 11th time.

Do you seriously think Cain is not in position to catch it?

The ball passes two feet right in front  of Cain as the db is trying to rip his head off.

Maybe you should start watching the games in braille?

Currently, the Colts are averaging 21 PPG, versus 27 PPG last season.

This is what is misleading because if AV's leg hadn't fallen off, the Colts would be averaging 25 points per game this year and their record would be 2-0.

I know, I know, you want yards.

I want points.....and ball control....and that is what 5 TDs to 1 INT will get you.

If the DB turns his head the ball would land right in his lap.

    I just re-watched it 10 times. I don't see that.

Neither db was in position to intercept that ball. No way.

Cain pulls up because the ball was "underthrown". He about gets his head ripped off because the db knew Cain was going to catch it.

"Poorly underthrown" balls are not catchable.

Brady sits back there eats a sandwich and hits Edelman or some RB after he has sprinted 20 yds across the field.  These routes are almost impossible to guard and are very easy throws as long as you have the patience to hold the ball and move around till it comes open and are able to hit the hot read on blitzes and toss it into the stands if the front 4 bring the funk

You described perfectly what has been their bread and butter for many years.
