  1. Let me be clear: eight carries for 8 yards says one thing pretty clearly, and that's that Richardson wasn't effective.

But watching the game, it was obvious that he was hampered by his injury. He was trying to avoid contact, he was moving gingerly, there was no explosion, and so on. After his catch to open the game, he wasn't in any condition to carry the ball. Whether it's an injury or not, that lack of production is a reason to get pulled. But for anyone who watched the game, and who has seen Richardson play, it was obvious that he was hurt.

If he had 80 yards on 8 carries, no, you don't pull him. That would be ridiculous. But that's not relevant; he didn't have 80 yards on 8 carries.

I'm not interested in defending anyone's predictions. But suggesting that one of the better backs in the NFL would have a good game against us isn't "*ic" in the least, not after we gave up 200+ yards the week before.

    Exactly my point.

He had 8 yards on 8 carries, which makes those who predicted him to run all over our defense.....*.

  2. *ic? Wow. You sir are a bright one. So if I predicted Tom Brady to throw for 350 yards, 4 TD's and no INT's, but he only had 200 yards and 2 TD's, would my prediction still be *ic? The dude was hurt and ineffective. What part of IF HE WAS HEALTHY do you not understand?

Yeah, it would be *ic, because you would have been off by 150 yards and 2 tds.....lol

  3. He already answered that. According to Kuffs, Richardson was taken out because he only had 8 yards on 8 carries.

If he had 8 carries for 80 yards and 2 td's, i'm sure they would have yanked him right out.

Why can't people just own up to their *ic predictions? I mean, its right there in black and white.

  4. Wow. It takes a certain level of non intelligence to say that.

It takes a certain level of intelligence to not know that neither Richardson, nor anyone he plays with or against, are 100% healthy. A very low one. You don't know how healthy anyone is, neither do I.

What we do know is this: he had 8 carries for 8 yards.

Many people, including you, predicted a huge day for Richardson. You now look foolish in your prediction. Deal with it.....don't blame me.

  5. Come on you have been around long enough to know that just because player plays doesn't mean he's 100% healthy and it's clear he was not. He was hurt he tried to give it a go it didn't work so they had to sit him down. There is already talk of him missing this week's game with the same injury. That's not someone who is healthy that is someone who tried to play threw an injury to help his team.

Give the Colts credit healthy or not they still stopped him but I think it's also safe to say Richardson was not close to 100% and that impacted his performance as well.

Yeah.....nobody who plays in the NFL is 100% healthy. Some are 80%, some are 60%. I don't know what Richardson's % was, but he played in the game, and he got shut down.

  6. Like I said HEALTHY. Why do you think he was taken out of the game? It surely wasn't because he didn't feel like playing.

Go watch his game from Bama when he wasn't injured. I'm sure your tune would change.

Because he was completely ineffective.....averaging 1.0 yards per carry.

He played in the game, so that means he was healthy.

  7. Even healthy he'd thrash us. Richardson was never a 5-6YPC back in college... He's just the type of RB that can keep a consistent YPC up that breaks down your defense until he breaks out the big runs. Go look at his numbers from his last two years at Alabama.

    Guess not.

  8. Because I've watched him.

Up here we see Detroit play the Bears twice a year...

He's always been competent but never great..

No more than 3 or 4 sacks in most years but he always played and always contributed..

..always solid.,,never pro bowl....he is what he is

But that's beside the point. I'm talking about what he contributes on the sideliens.

I never knew he was so vocal and so much of a leader

Apparantly you weren't watching very close.

Redding has long been one of the better 3-4 DE's in the NFL. Nothing average about him whatsoever.

  9. I thought Tennesse was awful...Pitt gave them the game....we have to beat Tenn to qualify for the wild card...under any scenario

In the standings..that's a PItttsbugh loss...and we dont play them.

If they're 2nd in their division (which seems likely)...we need them behind us...

    They aren't awful.

They were giving the Texans all they could handle: even after Locker got hurt and a cold Hasselbeck had to come in......Chris Johnson was eating Houston alive up the gut, up until the time where Houston fell butt-backwards into a pick 6 that changed the entire complexion of the game. Tenn basically gave up right after that.

Now that they have time to prepare for a game knowing that Hasselbeck is their starter, they will be a tough out.

  10. OMG a Jerry Hughes fan?? It's like finding a unicorn.

I'm not rooting against Hughes. I hope he figures it out. It'll make not re-signing Freeney easier to take if Hughes shows he can play. The bottom-line is though that Jerry Hughes can't play. He was a badbutt on a really good TCU team but his skills haven't translated to the NFL...AT ALL! He's a bust who has done nothing to prove otherwise.

Also, starts are irrelevant if you get to play a lot. When Freeney went down, Hughes played a lot and he was completely invisible. He's been invisible ever since. I want the Jerry Hughes who played lights out in the preseason!

He's not a Jerry Hughes fan, persay.

Unlike the Hughes bashers in this thread who probably haven't even taken any time whatsoever to actually watch Jerry Hughes play, Gavin is just utilizing a novel concept of looking at the situation objectively, and using tangible statistics to back up his assertion.

  11. Haahahahahaha this is your second winning season! Second!!! And you act like that?

It must be hard for Texans fans to have had to live like 20 years of rebuilding. And that every qb in the nfl had your number

They haven't had a winning season this year yet.

In the entire history of their franchise, they've had one good season......and that one was handed to them on a silver platter by a) them having the second easiest schedule in the entire NFL and b) Peyton Manning being out for the season. Deep down they know this, thus the insecurity you find in nearly any Texan fan you come across.

  12. I thouhgt he was just an average player..maybe slightly better

..and that may be true..or not

But in watching the NFL Net replay of the game....Redding is the verbal leader of the defense

He's talking it up and channelling Ray Lewis with inspirational words...

Very good pickup by R. Grigson

Why on earth would you have ever thought this?

  13. First off I dont call Texans fans "Hicks" thats wasn't me, because my whole family is Texans fans except for 2 cowboys fans so I wouldnt name call any texans fans.

As for weaknesses that I see(personal opinion/observation) is:

    1) still no legit #2 receiver threat(Owen Daniels doesn't count as a #2 receiver).

    2) The right side of the line is too inconsistent thats why Ben Jones keeps rotating in with Caldwell.

    3) NT is still a concern because Earl Mitchell and Shaun Cody isn't the answer thats why teams can run up the middle against the Texans

    1) True

    2) True

    3) True

Tell this to a Texan fan, though. They would prefer to plug their ears and scream so they can't hear you, which in turn would make these weaknesses cease to exist.....lol

  14. i wasn't that impress with houston and i think we will beat them. watt is great but that secondary isn't as good as i thought it would be. the loss of cushing will hurt them in passing situations but they'll still be top 10. offensively if u stop foster on 1st down and force shaub into more shotgun situations he'll be more likely to turn the ball over. the texans are good but no where near the best team in the nfl like some guys are saying. i think the 49ers,giants,ravens,patriots, and bears would beat them if they met in the playoffs.

Agreed. They are weak in the secondary, undersized & prone to being outphysicaled on the DL (see Chris Johnson gashing them for 140+ yards), weak on the right side of the OL, and have no depth whatsoever at WR.

I am very confident that the following teams are superior to the Houston Texans:

    New England

    Baltimore

    Chicago

    Green Bay

    New York Giants

    San Francisco

    Atlanta

  15. Gary Kubiak always has the best scripted plays to start a game thats what I like about Kubiak. after those scripted plays he is predictable(its probably just me since ive seen every texans game in there existence i done caught on to his play calling) but his scripted plays he sets up to begin games against teams is incredible, he does his homework thats why they lead the league in first quarter scoring

Good at scripting & preparing......not good at thinking and adjusting on the fly.

  16. Agreed. But acknowledging that the mighty Texans have flaws is a difficult proposition. See, Texans fans have seen their team stuck in the cellar for so long that, now that their team is legimately good (and it IS good, best in the AFC right now), they don't recognize that the team still isn't perfect. There's no in-between yet. They only know two speeds right now -- terrible and awesome.

I have nothing against the Texans. I'm actually happy for them that they're finally a winning team. I like seeing teams get built into contenders the right way. The adjustments the Texans have made over the last three years are paying huge dividends right now, perhaps none bigger than hiring Wade Phillips and drafting in a way that complements his scheme. But it's amazing to me how defensive their fans are whenever you dare to question whether they are as good as they look to be.

No sense in us Colts fans denying that they are good; they're really good, despite an off game against the Jets. But they're also beatable. Their fans should acknowledge that as well.

This post is 100% spot on.

  17. Well every team in the league has flaws so again that's like telling Noah about the flood.

Yes.....every team in the league does have flaws. Every single team. And that includes the Houston Texans. But try telling them that.

You see.....I live in Houston, and I can tell you that pretty much every Texan fan i've come across is so desperate for success that they:

    1) Honestly think they have no weaknesses

    2) Get very defensive when you point out obvious, legitimate weaknesses. They don't want to hear it, because they want to think that there will be nothing stopping them from winning the Super Bowl this year.

It's funny how obvious they make it that they have no experience whatsoever in being a fan of a successful football franchise,

  18. Well rather you like them or not the Texans did WIN the game so yes they do get credit. With that said clearly it wasn't the Texans best game and the Jets should get credit from that which tells me the Colts are in for a hard game on Sunday.

True.....let's not act like they don't have any flaws, though, which seems to me what is happening in this fantasyland thread.

    They have flaws.....obvious ones.

  19. Seriously? Did you watch the Game? Not trying to be Rude, but I think you should go back & watch the Game. You'd see that the Jets became Desperate & pulled all types of plays (Ex: Putting Cromartie at WR).

There is NOTHING in the NFL more Dangerous than a Desperate Team. They will pull ANYTHING to Win.

And let's say the Jets beat us Sunday, then what would you say? Does that make us a "Bad" Team?

Uh.....the reason they put Cromartie at WR is because they have nobody else to play there. That was pretty obvious. Did you see who they started at WR that game? And despite this, they still had the ball at the end of the game with a chance to win it? lol......i'm wondering if YOU even watched the game. A mediocre Jet team missing their top defensive and offensive players, still nearly beat the Texans. The Texans were NOTICABLY inefficient on offense for most of the game......every stat in the universe bears that out......yet here you are, actually giving the Texans credit. lmao

  20. Congrats to the Colts. U guys played a good 2nd half. Packers will have their hands full. Benson is out for about 8 weeks so Green & Starks need to step it up big time. If the Jets can almost beat the Texans then as long as the Packers play 60 min we got a good shot at winning. This is a must win for us

That's kind of what I was thinking. If they could barely beat the Jets and had a hard time defending Mark Sanchez, then I can only imagine what Rogers will do.

Plus, Schaub and the offense looked bad the last 3/4 of the game.

I think the Texans are in for a rude awakening now that they have to actually play a good team: Packers 34 Texans 20

  21. He's gotten better to the point he doesn't embarass himself. He had an okay game against Peyton.

He had a hiccup here or there, but overall he did okay.

Agreed......he was atrocious his rookie year. Now he is just mediocre.

As I said, he is certainly someone that an elite qb like Rogers or Brady will pick on and likely have a field day with.

  22. He's playing better, but don't turn him into a shutdown corner. He is not that.

Agreed. He's okay, I suppose, but based on what I saw last night, he has much work to do. He gave his man ALOTt of openings.

He is defininitely someone that Rogers/Brady/Stafford or whatever good qb they play from here on out will pick on. Unfortunately for them, they ain't playin' Blaine Gabbert or Jake Locker or Ryan Tannehill this weekend. It's about to be tough sleddin'.
