  1. Freeney will be restructured, hands down. After releasing Peyton, it is obvious to everyone that if Peyton can be released, so can they. I am sure players will be willing to restructure, IMO. Wayne, Diem and Brackett will be the ones gone. Saturday might be brought back for a year at best but he may just hang it up or be let go as well.

Gonzo will be had for cheap, Garcon will also be re-signed, IMO.

There is a good chance, Peyton, Wayne and Saturday end up in Miami.

Saturday is the key for Manning's success in a new offense atleast for the transition phase. They can move Pouncey to right guard and have Saturday as center.

If this happens, boy they are SB bound.

  2. I came all the way to see Peyton from Asia ( Jets Vs Colts - 2010 playoffs ). I was at the Colts 50 yard line front row. Saw Manning from 10 feet away and he posed while taking his Gatorade.

Ironically, thats the last game he played for Colts.

That was my frist trip to a football stadium and first trip to Indy. Will never forget that night.

  3. Hopefully we show promise with a solid rebound in 2012/13 and beyond.... and Colts fans will recharge and rally around the new-look Colts. :)

Rebound in 2012/13 - Whats considered Rebound, i am assuming back to winning ways. With this current team, new coaches, new QB in 2012/13?.

    Time will tell my friend

  4. You don't want it to be complicated, but it isn't as simple as you wish it was.

If not money, what it is? How about the need to field a team. How about the need to field a decent product to keep fans entertained, not just this next season, but 5 years from now, and 10 years from now, and on into the future. How about fears of being the team that rushed Manning onto the field again, only to see something truly tragic happen to him.

I am a fan of taking people at their word, and despite the vitriol on this site, I haven't seen anything to suggest Irsay hasn't been sincere.

I loved my ex-wife. I promised her I would love and honor her until death do us part, and I sincerely meant it. Only things changed. She changed. I changed. Our circumstances changed. She filed for divorce, and I chose not to fight it. That didn't negate the sincerity of my promise to her. I decided I could best love and honor her by moving on.

Guys - All i am saying is, dont make any promises upfront, if you have even a slightest doubt of that not happening. Thats all.

  5. Just a few reasons that come to my mind ...

    1) He is 36 years old - I am sure Irsay knew that when he was signed for 5 yrs extension

    2) He is 13-14 years into his career - I am sure Irsay knew that when he was signed for 5 yrs extension

    3) His career as an NFL player is coming to an end soon - You must be God to predict that.

    4) He hasn't played a down in over a year - Irrelevant.

    5) He has had 3,4,5 ? Surgerys. - Bottom line is he recovered or not.

    6) He already has more than enough money for himself, his kids, and his grandkids will ever need - That doesnt mean he has to take less.

    7) To have a chance to retire as one of the GOAT while only having played on one team - Not significant.

    8) To show loyalty to the city that supported him for so many years - Its the other way around.

Please see bold above. None of the above points has any valid arguement. Seems like you just want to number as much as you want.

  6. I prefer to think he did back it up. They both waited for the deadline to try everything they could to make it work. Narrow glimpses at the goings on, coupled with the usual media spin, gives us a warped view, but we want to assume we know exactly what has transpired. That's not realistic.

No he didnt. If money isnt the issue, what is it?. Lets not make it complicated. He just shouldnt have made those statements.

You can prefer to think whatever you want though :-)

  7. He did say that, but there are more issues than just pure money and Manning's health... for instance, what about the ability to field a TEAM? No matter how much some of you want to believe that Manning wore a cape and played every position himself, the reality is that league rules require all roster spots be paid for under something called a SALARY CAP... meaning even if Irsay wanted to pay Manning the $28M, there would have been insufficient room left under the cap to surround him with adequate talent, even if Irsay was only worried about making sure he stayed upright. Here's an idea... Irsay can resign Manning, and you and I can be brought in to man the OLine... How long do you figure Manning's career would last then?

Sure, point is just dont make those big statements then. If you do, back it up.

  8. One of the more dumb statements in this thread. If Irsay wanted to leave Indianapolis, he would be gone already. The opportunity has been there for Irsay to move the Colts.

I think it's very possible that Irsay had every intention of keeping Manning, albeit at a reduced price, but Manning wouldn't agree to stay if the Colts drafted Luck. And Irsay CANNOT pass up the opportunity to solidify the QB position for the next 10-15 seasons. That would be a dumb move. The next franchise QB is there for the taking, and we cannot pass up this opportunity.

    Thanks for judgement buddy.

I wanted to address this but with your reply, it explains you probably wont get it. So not worth it.

  9. So your opinion is more valuable than mine seriously WTH are you to tell me to shut up? Get over it, hes gone and he doesnt care about Indy or the Indy fans!

Lets argue your way - Why should Peyton take less money?. For who?. If you dont know, he built that Stadium and the whole city. Dont dare to question Peyton's loyalty. He is the one who told Irsay not to make him the highest paid player. I can go on and on. If Peyton is not healthy, i can understand.

You cant ask him to take less money so he can train a rookie and move on?. Thats real nice.

  10. Disagree. I think Irsay has been as transparent as we could expect in this process and he did NOT make any unqualified promises, particularly since Mannings surgeries.

He is not a liar, he does not think fans are anything less than great.

He's a leader and will take heat for this decision but, this is an unfair characterization

The second Irsay realized Colts have the number one draft pick, he turned into a different man. I understand its business but there are intangibles, loyalty and unofficial rules for everything and he violated that clearly.

He clearly said money wont be the issue ( only way to justify this scenario is Peyton not being healthy still ).

Anyways, I am glad i am not a Colts fan right now ( purely coz of the management ).

Hope everything works out for the true passionate Colts Fans but law of nature will take its course. Its inevitable

  11. He doesnt deserve all the crap he's getting, he's just making a business decision. I don't like it, but I understand where he is coming from.

Its not about the decision, its about how he handled it.

  12. Jim Irsay has said over and over again that if Peyton is healthy he will be a Colt. Then he said money was not a factor. Then he says its up to Peyton if he wants to play.

This afternoon, we will see the real Jim Irsay. Letting go of the soon to be HOF QB even though Peyton said he wanted to come back.

Although I can understand why this happened. I can not stand the fact that he stood in front of camera's, talked to media, and even tweeted about how much he wanted Peyton back. But, in the end, it sounds like he knew all along he was getting rid of him. It is reported that Irsay says its not about money, or health, or Peyton wanting to come back. It is that he wants to rebuild the team. So, he should have been a man and said that from the beginning.

I respected Jim, now I think its fair to say we are all just *s in his opinion. He can lie to us, and we will all just accept it. And, us loyal Colts fan will. Its just a sad sad situation.

    And i will add this.

Fans have the true loyalty as most of the fans are natives of the city and states.

Jim Irsay is a NOMAD. History speaks. He doesnt care about Indianapolis ( thats the reality ). Like his father, he can go to any city.

And yes, he lied and he is an opportunist.

  13. This had better be a case of restructuring his contract. Period. Peyton: Take the insentive laid plan and whoop um'. Irsay: PAY THE MAN ALREADY!!!!!!

This is absolute horse crap. Peyton, I'll follow you where ever you end up. Irsay I have zero respect for you. ZERO. I just can't belive a man that made Indianapolis and Indiana a football loving area, give so much to Indy and the hospitals is on the verge of being let go. Irsay, Manning made you Billions and this is how he is repaid. You wont even let him finish out his career in Indy. Sickening.

Dont worry, Colts are the new Cleveland Browns atleast till Peyton plays

  14. Because he has a contract that would financially hampered us, especially if he did not play. It was not a guarantee he COULD play or even WOULD play. I would like to see you buy a $28 mill ferrari without being sure that it even drives like one.

He bought you a New ferrari ( Andrew Luck ) just by not playing.

    He will hamper you huh.

Watch the fun now. If he plays in the same division or AFC, forget Colts going to playoffs till he retires.

  15. Dear COLTS

If the video and the various reports are correct and Peyton is throwing the way it appeared then I believe you made a huge mistake. I understand that decisions needed to be made and that in the end it is not what you did for me last year but what you did for me lately.

However, I think the way the Colts organization handled this entire situation was deplorable at best. You do not have the Lucas oils Stadium without Manning, you do not have the banners hanging in your building without Manning, your team would not have been feared if #18 was not the QB. The owner has become another J. Jones, all about his ego not what's best for the team.

If you were going to release Manning it should have been done in such a way as to show class, you have shown none Mr. Owner. For this story to be leaked and reported through Yahoo Sports is again deplorable. Good Luck in the future, I hope Luck turns out to be as good as he looked in college, but then again how many QB's have turned out that good? very few, and now you have lost one of the greatest QB's in NFL History and a long time fan (fan before Manning was a pro).

I will be sending you all the Colts gear I have collected over the past 20 years to make room for the new Manning Gear. I hope you enjoy a 1 and 15 record next year, and I doubt you make the post season any time soon. oh and I hope Manning delivers the promise he made when he was drafted, I hope he kicks your butt every time he plays you. Lets hope he goes to a team in your division. I don't care is I miss spelled any words, I am ticked.

    Exactly my thoughts

  16. If this is true, Irsay, your an *, Peyton, your an *, and i cant believe you two cant work something out. Better get crap figured out you two. This is beyond ridiculous. Take an insentive laid contract Peyton and stick it to them! Both are to blame and both are being greedy. Period.

Why should Peyton take lesser money to Stay with Colts , when his media crappy owner mouthes of about him. Also, Peyton wants to play for a long time, not one year baby sitting Luck so COLTS benefit.

Bottomline, Irsay didnt treat the way Peyton deserved. Fun begins now. Watch it.
