  1. Phony?

I did not say you were phony. Regardless, it is appropriate to provide attribution when creating a thread that has new/breaking information in it.

    For two reasons:

    A. So your fellow users can comment on sourced information.

    B. So your fellow users do not have to go looking for the information.

  2. ...Dwight Freeney, John Abraham and then (eventually) Brian Urlacher is beyond me.

I preface this with the statement that Jerry Jones is an airhead.

But if he is wanting to win now...(which has been his mantra for what seems like forever)...then bringing them in to play the Tampa 2 is a no brainer (I don't care what negadit chimes in about age & injury).

They have kept their 3/4 personnel but want to run a very specific style of 4/3. smh

Maybe he has gotten some college and figured out you cannot continue to put off salary cap he||.

  3. Good to have him back. I like him as a backup, and I like how he can play both tackle and guard.

Good player to have as a backup. Don't even mind having him start for a couple of games if needed.

What is it with you and not sourcing what you post? This is the 3rd time I've seen you do it.

  4. Chap hasn't played a down in the nfl.

LOL yeah, neither did anyone else before they did. Always thought that was such a silly thing to say in support of a position.

No way he beats them out.

Your first point being dismissed out of hand, why can't he beat them out?

...he is not making much noise.

Neither is Andrew Luck....it is the off-season.

    Trust me...

    LOL why?

Anyway, Chapman was the starting DT on a BCS National Championship Team that held their undefeated opponents...scoreless. And was part of a defensive unit that led the nation in rush defense (72.2 ypg), total defense (183.6 ypg) and scoring defense (8.2 ppg) as a senior. Absent his surgery (for a torn anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus) he is a day 1 starter. And barring significant problems with his recovery, there is nothing to suggest he won't be when he is cleared.

It would appear that Coach Pagano agrees...

“I expect great things from Josh,” said Chuck Pagano.  “From a physical standpoint, he could have gone last year had we pushed him.  He would have done that.  We felt like the best thing for the team and for Josh was to not push the issue there and to force him to do something (harmful).  He was close, but he certainly was not where he is today. Josh is going to give us a big, strong presence inside playing the nose.  He’s going to command double-teams.  He’s going to be a guy who helps our run defense when we plug him in.  He was just coming on when he got hurt in college.  He was one of the unsung heroes coming out of that locker room at Alabama.  You heard about (Courtney) Upshaw and (Dont’a) Hightower and all those guys, but Josh was the guy who knew that defense inside and out.  He’s very, very bright.  He’ll digest a ton of information.  Even though he didn’t play, he knew everything we were running from A-to-Z.  He will emerge as a big-time leader for us.”

  5. Olsen to Minnesota

    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/03/19/vikings-add-guard-seth-olsen/

Olsen spent the last two seasons with the Indianapolis Colts and previous stops in Denver and Minnesota. Olsen has appeared in 14 games in his career and started five games over the last two seasons. Olsen was set to be a restricted free agent but was non-tendered by the Colts making him free to sign elsewhere. Olsen will be a depth option for the Vikings as Minnesota returns all five starters on the offensive line next season.

  6. Honestly, without Polian, the Colts and the Irsay family would be viewed and compared to the Cardinals and the Bidwell family in Arizona. The ONLY thing that seperates the two, are the Polian years. You may hate the guy, and no longer care what he says, but he got you respectability in the league.

    ^^^ that ^^^

  7. ...other than (of course) reading *edit*.

    From PFT -

    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/03/19/wes-welkers-camp-says-patriots-approach-was-take-it-or-leave-it/#comments

Love to see the Patriots* way on display. What a cheap & shabby affair...

"Responding to Patriots* owner Robert Kraft’s statement that Welker’s “agents misrepresented, in their mind, what his market value was,” Welker’s agents at Athletes First have released a statement to Albert Breer of NFL Network, saying that there was no negotiating with New England because the Patriots* were only interested in telling Welker to take what they were offering and like it.

“The Patriots* made one offer to Wes Welker since the prior negotiations ended in July 2012,” Athletes First said in the statement. “Both sides also agree that this two-year offer came just hours before the start of free agency despite discussions that began at the NFL Combine. Moreover, this lone offer was presented as a ‘take it or leave it offer.’ When we asked if there was room for structural changes, we were told no. We made a counter-offer for the same term and same maximum dollar amount as their offer and it was rejected. We inquired if any of the offer’s components were negotiable and were told no. This refusal to actually negotiate made it easy to reject the Patriots* offer. Nevertheless, when we received the Denver Broncos’ offer, Wes personally talked to Mr. Kraft to give the Patriots* the opportunity to match it. The Patriots* rejected this opportunity and Wes signed with the Denver Broncos.”

  8. bad work ethic, awful in pass protection, can't catch, fumbles, and doesn't play big. Caught lightning in a bottle his rookie year and has since dropped off completely.

There was a reason he was undrafted.

Yeah, we're not really talking about the draft.

Odds are Schiano doesn't want him because he does not fit Schiano's system. Blount isn't your typical pass catching back. They still have bruisers in the NFL. And he's one of them. Like a Jerome Bettis (a fumbling machine who nobody would label as a pass catching RB). Regardless, Earnest Byner said he has no issues with Blount in the passing game. And Schiano himself said his hands are fine and that he can catch the football. And Byner also said he does EVERYTHING asked of him. Whatever was going on under Raheem Morris apparently ended under Schiano.

Anyway, Blount breaks tackles and arm tackles are a non-starter against him. He's got quick feet and is quite agile for a big guy. And he's good in space and the perimeter. IMO He's a good fit for San Francisco. Especially considering Jim Harbaugh is all too familiar with Blount having played at Oregon.

    We'll see what happens.

  9. Watch San Fran get him...

    Per PFT -

The Buccaneers signed running back LeGarrette Blount to a one-year contract before the start of free agency, but that doesn’t mean he’ll play in Tampa this season.

In fact, the Bucs are trying to trade Blount, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

That’s no surprise. Blount was brought in by the previous regime in Tampa and never seemed like a good fit with head coach Greg Schiano. And in 2012 Blount was largely phased out of the offense in favor of rookie Doug Martin: Blount carried just 41 times for 151 yards, while Martin got the bulk of the carries and finished the season with 319 carries for 1,454 yards.

Blount is only 26 years old and only three years removed from a rookie season in which he carried 201 times for 1,007 yards, so it wouldn’t be surprising if some other team figures he’s worth a draft pick in a trade. Blount could provide value to some other team, even if the Bucs are ready to move on.

  10. Well - still learning how to do this properly so go easy on me! In all seriousness, any recommendations/suggestions are greatly appreciated.

A good/brief piece. Way short on personal axes & bitter, nonsensical observations (thank you). Definitely the right conclusion regarding him being a huge upgrade. Not amazed by his performance against Fili Moala however because quite frankly, Moala continues to disappoint. Nevertheless, I obviously enjoyed reading it.
