Johnson started 13 games for the Colts last season, but Indy showed no interest in bringing him back for another year as they spent their money elsewhere in free agency in hopes of upgrading up front on defense.

At least this man isnt caught up in the fantasy of adopting Stanford's offense.
We went runthe ball 40 times and win more than we lose.
But if we incoporate swing passes (virtual runs) into our attack, we still move the ball.
You have to have Luck throwing the bal 35-40 times. That's our strength...
Lets not outsmart ourselves
I hadn't really heard much about "Stanford"'s offense replacing our as much as a West Coast offense.
THAT is what is happening.
And Hamilton stating the obvious regarding our strength in the passing game isn't to be translated into something implying we will continue with Bruce Arians style of offense.
THAT is not going to happen.
We're not adding some West Coast principles into what we did last season. We've changed to a West Coast offensive system.

If his injury aggravates him again, I am open to that possibility. That is what I meant.
With all the DL additions, that leeway might still be granted to Chapman if he has an aggravation. But with Ijalana, it would be a third strike.
I hear what you're saying.
I think barring some catostrophic injury, Chapman isn't going anywhere.
-
I don't understand why anyone would invest their hopes in Ijalana. The ONLY thing he has proven to do is not be available. And the brief periods where he was available, he did not impress.
If he shows up healthy, great. If he stays healthy, great. If he holds his own, great.
But there is no reason to expect any of that out of him.
Chapman on the other hand...

Long story short - helping the pass rush as early as the 1st round should not be a surprise. No position actually other than QB should be overly surprising.
I don't think I'd be surprised but IMO we need Oline more than OLB. I'd actually put MLB above OLB too.
Regardless, people have their opinions. We'll see how it goes.

11.4 is pretty solid, and with the draft, that number should end up being around 6.5M - 8M (left in cap space).
Thoughts?
That's a pretty decent number to go into the season with. Fudge money for injuries etc, etc.

Do you have any idea how many posts would be edited and how many (more) warnings would be given out by that criteria?
I'd venture a guess that you can't find 5 posts (not concerning Grigson's preference between Oline and CB) where Grigson's words have been so willfully misrepresented. It should be stopped. It isn't some nonsensical misunderstanding. It is quite clear that he is being intellectually dishonest and intentionally twisting the words of the General Manager of the Indianapolis Colts. On THAT alone he should be given a warning.
-
Grigson has conveyed his disdain for starting a first year O-Lineman over a first year DB. I think we will draft and OL, but not til the later rounds .
Stop trying to pimp that out-of-context nonsense.
Liked Brian Casserly's Post
lollygaggers post should be edited (because it is intellectually dishonest) and he should be given a warning for intentionally misrepresenting the General Manager of the Indianapolis Colts' words.
-
If there is a pass rusher there that Grigson rates worthy of the pick, he will make the selection.
Maybe, maybe not. But it just isn't that kind of need when compared to others we do have.

What is your thoughts on trying to bring back Jake Scott?
Let it (him) go.
-
And apparently are not seeing things very clearly because of it.
Pass rusher is a position of need - no two ways about it. Will be shocked beyond words if it is not addressed in the draft.
Nah. Not a 1st round need.
-
I think DHB has a ton of upside....what am I missing?
Apparently we're not as sold as you are.
-
Heheh... Glad I could keep you entertained.
I apologize. I'm sick and kinda got a crappy attitude.

How's that? The OLB that we signed was Walden, who was signed to "set the edge" and isn't really a pass rusher.
And? That IS the job of that LB. Set the edge. Are you magically creating new priorities on that LB in a 3/4? Regardless, Grigs said himself the kid is disruptive and makes game changing plays. How about we let him get a single snap in the horseshoe before we start pretending he cannot create pressure.
That leaves us moving Mathis to the rush linebacker spot on the right.
The RUSH linebacker spot. Thank you.
Mathis, although he's still a decent player, just isn't an elite pass rusher anymore.
That's nonsense.
In any event, that leaves us Mathis as our pass rusher, with Hughes as his backup. Are we happy with that?
We have been for years. What is different now? Nevertheless, we also have Hickman and Killeen.
Are we just not going to pass rush from the left side at all?
Of course we are.
If I had my choice between an elite pass rusher in the 1st, and say.......I'd pick the pass rusher in a heartbeat.
Good for you.

Pass rusher. It's the one glaring need that hasn't even been touched yet.
CB would be nice, though.
We do not have any need at pass rusher, much less a glaring one. That is why it hasn't been "touched".
And we do not have a need at CB either.
I would not be opposed to adding depth at either position. But only after the 1st round.

As long as we use him on short routes so he can catch and run, he can be a weapon for us. It should be noted that DHB is quite possibly the worst WR I've ever seen at tracking the ball in the air so long bombs aren't the ticket with him. He can do real damage with the ball in his hands and brings some size to the table, so it's really just a matter of using him properly.
Spot on! And I think that is EXACTLY what we brought him in for. Catch & go.
-
He knows nothing of this team. It seems like the walden signing to him is bad because walden won't reproduce the same pass rush as freeney. Well duh, that's not what he is being brought in for. And despite what he says about him being second worst against the run, many credible have said otherwise. It seems he thought we brought him in to play every down and that's not the case.
It seems everyone thinks we overpaid because they don't know who the player is.
And it's AMAZING how mike Wallace who is getting 11/year to run a streak doesn't even crack the top 10. No sign of Kruger near the top either.
Yeah, take what this guy says with a grain of salt, seems like he's only attracted to names.
I wonder what Silva thinks of the moves made by the two perennial Clown Cars in Cleveland & Miami.

"Free Agents vs Draft Choices"
I'll take both.
-
I just feel like if it's nothing positive about us, it's irrelevant. I thought people got enough of all the negativity from last year when they said we wouldn't win 2 games.
Some people exalt their uninformed, lazy opinions well above the hard earned knowledge of the braintrust that is running the Colts. So....if a tool comes along and writes something that falls in line with their negadit thesis, they'll sieze it. You have those type of folks in every fanbase. Some more than others. Fortunately ours is in a very small minority. Unfortunately, they do clog up our forums with their twaddle.

Honestly........... who cares what all these writers think?
Bottomfeeders who have (NEED) an axe to grind.

I'd select this guy in a second. I'll be VERY pleased with our entire draft if he is a part of it.
