That's true, but there really isn't very good talent you're going to be able to get when the season rolls around anyway.
Ehhhh that's a different discussion. But it would seem wise to hold that $$$ in reserve just in case. And last season kind of bore that out for us.
I've said my piece on Mack. Cleveland would be stupid to let him get away. And I don't think Farmer is stupid enough to let him get away for what we could pay him. I'd think if anyone can get him....it's prolly only Oakland.
But.....I reckon we'll see. ;)

I'm pretty sure we went into last season with only about 4 million. With only having a few draft picks and no 1st rder. we don't need very much.
Maybe we did. How'd that work out for us though when filling in injuries with real talent?
I've never thrown the baby out with Polian's bathwater. His number was $5-10 Million and that's where I have to assume seasoned GMs like to be.
-
We are however signing Alex Mack. It's going to happen. It will take some time, but it's going to happen.
Hey, if we do I'll be rejoicing the loudest...but I don't see Cleveland letting him go.
We can't win a bidding war for this guy can we?
-
That gives us about 13 million to play with if we want to
Not if going into the season with $7-10 Million for seasonal needs is a neccesity. ;)
-
That gives us about $7 Million more to play with.

I had a vision. He's coming to Indianapolis.
Yeah...apparently a lot of other folks envisioned Byrd here too.
I'm not even sold that we're talking to him. Nothing remotely concrete. The same guys who were religiously reporting we were after Decker are reporting we're after Mack.
-
Im happy we got him but I really don't think we need him. Oh well why not he was cheap lol
Yeah...I'm kinda here too. I reckon we'll see how it goes. Not bummed at all....but just thinking we have bigger Oline needs. I guess Grigson can walk and chew gum at the same time. So maybe he's still prepared to make moves there too.

We're signing Alex Mack.
I don't see how anyone can be confident in that. Cleveland can easily match anything anyone else offers.....save maybe Oakland.
-
I'd be OK with that, but I'd still rather work on the o-line somehow.
I'm somewhat disappointed. I was hoping we'd shore up the Oline with real talent as opposed to throwing up a floater with Costa. I reckon we'll see. But at this point, I do not know how Trent makes too much more of an impact than he did last year. This line is still anything but dominant with all of the FA moves made over this and last off-season. Ehhhhh....
I'm not sure how it would be financially possible to pull Mack away from Cleveland....so, my hope is we address the Oline in the draft and grab a stud Center in the 2nd. I reckon we'll see.

You think if colts don't sign a Mack . That the should sign a safety or corner such as Dominique Rodgers cromartie? Would love to see him on other side of there's vontae davis
I'd like to see DRC with the Horseshoe.

Says Ian Rappaport.... reporter for NFL.com
His tweet is in the first post of this thread........
I think you missed my point, but okay.

Oh thank God. One less non-real thing we don't have to talk about.

...I think our FO loves Toler
Ahhhh rhema! They loved him last year before they signed him. Glad it is finally dawning on you. ;)
-
Rookies should only be 2-3 million max. We don't have a first round pick this year, so the cost lowers.
Thank you for telling me what I already knew. Much appreciated.
-
Around 17 million.
Enough to sign one big name player.
I doubt it. Byrd at 9-10 mil per yr. and a goof center for 4-5 per yr. don't really leave much of anything to fill out the rest of the roster and sign draft picks. Plus you always need to leave some available for emergency situations. I said hell no to the Decker idea. Do not need and would be an absolute waste of resources.
If that is the number, I don't see us signing any other big names. We need $7-10 million for the rookies and seasonal needs.

Is it possible...
No.

#Saints announce they have signed Jairus Byrd.

March 12, 2014Oh thank God. Now we can talk about real things.

This isn't the Cowboys or Free Agent forum....therefore, wrong forum.

I get this feeling you didn't get what "fluid" and "dynamic" mean or are ignoring those pretty significant words in his post....Getting mad at what he said makes little sense when you actually take time to read what he said and know what it means.
LOL gee thanks Mom.
His language was woefully deceptive. I assumed most could instinctively discern that he had nothing behind his childishly/embarrassingly qualified comments.
Nevertheless, I reckon some men are very comfortable with mealy-mouthed equivocation. However, other Men aren't. ;)

How about La Canfora? He had a tweet about Vontae's deal being 8 million and he said that a deal would get done Monday.
Ehhh he could've been putting out info leaked on purpose by Colts staff in order work around/pressure Vontae's agent.
Regardless, I doubt he made it up out of whole cloth for the lone purpose of generating clicks on his website (which he charges ad space on).
Florio on the other hand...

First this...
Per a league source, Davis is expected to sign a deal on Tuesday, the first day of free agency. At this point, it likely won’t be the Colts. The situation is fluid and dynamic and subject to change...For now, he’s not. He’s close to signing with someone else. And he could do just that on Tuesday.
And after that garbage is completely blown out of the water...this...
As of Monday at this time, it appeared that cornerback Vontae Davis would be signing on Tuesday with a team other than the Colts. In the end, the Colts stepped up and got the deal done. Per a source with knowledge of the situation (YEAHRIGHT!!!!!!), Indy made a late push to keep Davis.
How some GM, Personnel person or Player hasn't cold this clown is beyond me. I reckon part of it is because he's a turd lawyer...turned turd NFL pundit.
