  1. I agree with all of them except for Joesph Addai reaching 1,000. I think in the next few weeks, we're going to see a 2 headed monster with Addai and Carter. I'll add a couple too.

    1) New York Jets miss the playoffs.

    2) Dallas Cowboys will win the NFC East.

    3) Josh Freeman will finish 2nd in MVP voting.

    4) Adrian Peterson will have 20..yes 20, rushing TDs.

    5) Sam Bradford will throw over 4,200 yards.

    6) Indianapolis Colts will win the AFC South....

    7) ...Peyton Manning returns week 9 and takes the 5-4 Colts to a 10-6 record.

    8) Carson Palmer signs with the Miami Dolphins sometime this year.

    9) Mario Manningham will finish in the top 10 in receiving TDs and yards.

    10) Ed Reed retires at season's end.

#8 could only happen if Mike Brown agrees to trade him. He's still under contract with Cincy.

  2. Maybe it would be best if they would flat-out deny all future symbolic observances period? Seems like the best course of action.

I don't think it needs to be one extreme or another. I certainly don't think every major national event should be recognized nor do I think players should display personal tragedies, but certain things like honoring a current or notable former player's passing should be acceptable for a season. As for 9-11, I think it's mainly because the 10th anniversary happens to fall on the same day as opening day. Had the 10th anniversary been a Friday or Wednesday for example, I doubt they approve of it. The 4th anniversary was also on a Sunday, but I don't recall any players having any kind of displays on themselves.

  3. Lets be understanding. I could think of about 50 sad things in this world that could bring cause for a player to wear a sticker/patch/color etc in memorandum/recognition of. If the NFL didn't step in, players would look look Christmas trees out there.

There has to be some control over adornments. I think most of this is just a distraction from the game. Activism has no place on the field.

In 2 of the examples I gave, the decals were already approved. The league just decided who could, and couldn't wear it. That part makes no sense. I'm not in favor of everyone being allowed to have displays of personal grievings, but what sense does it make to approve all teams honoring a fallen current or former player for a week, and then only 1 team after that week? The league allowed it with Sean Taylor. Why not Tillman since they allowed AZ to wear it all year?

  4. I'm glad the NFL finally made the right decision. They should have also let Jake Plummer wear the 40 decal in honor of Pat Tillman. Since they let all teams wear it in week 2 in 04, and allowed the Cards to wear it all season, what's the harm in letting any players continue to wear a decal that they already approved of? When Sean Taylor died, they let every team wear a 21 decal for the duration of that season. I'm just glad the league is making an exception here.

  5. Maybe u never heard what Basket admitted to after he left us and was resigned by eagles,

He actualy said he secured the ball, heard all the colt players saying its Colts ball, so he just let go and tried to get up.

He said he never realized to wait for the whistle & refs to take the pile apart

and for sure he has seen enough plays to know to wait for ref to take pile of players off anmd see who is left with ball in the scrum and whistle it dead & signal

NOT A SUPRISING< McNab u remember while an Eagle didnt know a game could end in a tie, What did the Eagles teach there players

That was a facepalm moment for the fanbase. Then he had to take it further and ask what would happen if it happened in a playoff game or the Super Bowl.

Worse yet, last year in GQ magazine, he tried to blame his ignorance on the refs.

  6. I thought I read or heard on Sirius radio that Manning's deal is guaranteed every season he passes a physical. If that's the case, the team wouldn't be on the hook for anything aside from anything guaranteed beyond those perameters. If he retired on his own accord, then I would think the team also would be on the hook for nothing. Of course this all depends on the accuracy of what I heard shortly after the deal was done.

  7. Don't you recall the Washington Redskins game (I believe in '07) where everybody was scared to death when somebody bent Peyton into this awkward position, pulling his neck backwards and pushing his body all out of shape? He looked hurt and dazed, but went back in and devoured Washington. However, that was the beginning of the woes.

I really don't remember that at all. I remember the Skins playing in Indy but I don't recall specifics about that game.

  8. That is true, somewhat, the tackles will each do a drop step and try to get about a yard deep before they engage the defender but the guards are supposed to drive their guys towards the center, This does two things, one good, one not so good. It creates nice passing lanes for the QB. It also opens nice holes for delayed blitzes. That may not be much of a problem for Vick though.

Also I wouldn't plan on Mudd getting in Reid's ear about running more. I think if Mudd was an OC, he'd have 57 pass plays in the play book and 1 or 2 running plays.

In that case, Mudd and Reid may quickly become best friends. lol

  9. Just came off a season ending surgery, but who knows?

And those Achillies injuries are the ones that worry me most trying to come back from. ACL injuries used to be the major career threatening ones but they've become more and more common to return from. The Achillies ones can still be a killer.

  10. Stupid NFL depth chart. I did not know any of that, thanks for the info. So Devan will play RG? That is what he played for the Colts all preseason so it won't be new for him.

I have game rewind from NFL.com and I plan on watching a few Eagles games. I a huge Howard Mudd fan and I am very interested to see what he does with the oline with a mobile/running QB. His big philosophy is to act like the QB is a basketball goal and the lane is the pocket. That is why he likes athletic lineman. But, with the Colts he did not have a basketball goal that could move around the court like a racecar. :)

Yeah, we're definitely hoping he can revamp our line. One thing I've heard talked about is how Mudd doesn't have the linemen "retreat" on pass plays. He still wants them moving forward being the aggressors which I like to hear. I've always wanted us to run the ball more early in games, for one to keep the defense honest, but also to allow our line to get in a good flow early and play with a mean streak. Hopefully Mudd can get in Reid's ear a bit and get him to run more. It'll help keep Vick healthy and I think it could really benefit a line that's going into a season with no time together.

  11. It was a statement he made in GQ magazine. It was bad judgement to say it but I won't kill him over it. That said, I don't criticize those who have chosen not to forgive him. Some of our own fans still don't. Two ladies who sit behind me at the games walked out of the stadium during the preseason game against the Pats in 09 when it was announced he was signed, and they didn't come back until the final home game that season and that was only because Brian Dawkins was returning as a Bronco. Then in the opener against GB last year, they came back, but again immediately left when Vick opened the 2nd half after we learned Kolb was out with a concussion. I have to admit I hated him as a Falcon and was very upset when we signed him and in all honesty, I probably would still hate him had he signed elsewhere, (even though I did support him getting a second chance). It took awhile for him to win me over but I finally did come to look past his actions and if he can continue on the path he's on now, I can continue to do so, but again, I won't fault those that don't.

  12. Well, he was cut from a playoff team so I guess it evens out. Of course he went to a playoff team that had two rookie guards for their starters and per eaglejoe an o line that is not very good.

Not that it changes much, but one rookie is our center, 6th round pick, Jason Kelce. We moved Todd Herremans from LG to RT, and Even Mathis is now our LG. Aside from putting Jamaal Jackson back at center, it's probably the best O-Line combination we can go with, although it also means this lineup will not have played a single snap together until we get to St Louis.

  13. I wish him well too - I'll always remember that Oakland game where he got poked in the eye then promptly came back and pancaked the mod edit next play!

DeVan is the type of player who is easy to root for - a hard-working underdog who overachieves. As an Eagles fan it will probably be fun watching Eagles practices to see him go head-to-head against his old wrestling buddy from high school at DT

Funny thing is, their lockers are right next to each other. From all accounts, they have renewed that "rivalry" already.

  14. Your going to love him, he is not perfect, as most players aren't, but is a good pass blocker, can run block, very good at angles, will miss an assignment occasionally, but will give everything he's got on every play. He was 1 of my favorite Colts. Can be a little nasty sometimes too. :eagles:

Good to hear. Our line was terrible last year, and has been poor this preseason. We already had 2 rooks starting, but Watkins simply isn't ready right now. I hope our center, Kelce is, but if not, we at least have our veteran backup there waiting to go in.

  15. NO@GB - GB.

    CIN@CLE - Cleveland.

IND@HOU - With Peyton, Indy, without, Houston.

TEN@JAC - Jax. After the recent release of Gerrard, I'll change this to Tenn.

    BUF@KC - KC.

    ATL@CHI - Atlanta.

DET@TB - Tough call, but I'll go with TB just for homefield.

    PHI@STL - Philly.

    NYG@WAS - NYG.

    CAR@ARI - Zona.

    SEA@SF - SF.

    MIN@SD - SD.

    DAL@NYJ - NYJ.

    NE@MIA - NE.

OAK@DEN - Tough call again. Denver just for homefield.

    PIT@BAL - Pitt.

  16. If I was a team doctor, I wouldn't clear him in the first place. While it's rare, I have seen times where a DT gets such a great jump at the snap that he meets the QB and RB right as the ball is being handed off. The other rare, but still possibility, is Manning gets stepped on by a lineman pulling away from center. It's really not worth the risk for a streak that most would frown on anyway. IF, and this is a big if, if Manning were in position to actually break it with this one handoff, I'd say maybe, but he's still quite a ways away from the record that it's simply not worth his his own well being, even away from football.
