  1. Yes he's done great things in the past but this a very talented team. When I said coaching I wasn't talking about only Andy Reid. I thought mornhinweg the OC called the plays or did Reid take over again. Anyways just thought they would be better. Also Reid has been to 1 super bowl as HC I think not a few.

I think Reid has taken over more of playcalling.

  2. It's all about chemistry and scheming. When you bring it a ton of free agents, they take some time to gel together. I also saw someone (can't remember who, might have been Michael Irvin on NFL Network) who said Nnamdi is a press-man corner, but the Eagles use a zone based scheme and he is lost. He is playing in space and can't make a play on the ball because he is not used to playing in a zone scheme. Warren Sapp commented that Cullen Jenkins is trying too hard to be a pass rusher when he should do what he does best, and that is stuff the run. So there might be some scheming issues.

That's been an MO of Reid's for years. He is always trying to play players out of position. I loved the Nnamdi signing, but if he's not going to play to his strengths, then it's a wasted signing. Don't buy Hershey's milk chocolate if you're planning on making Skittles. It's a small part of the MANY reasons fans have long tired of Reid and are ready for a change.

  3. lol, kids who bet on games. I remember being 9 and betting 50,000 dollars that I was gonna beat some other kid at our league soccer game. That didnt turn out to well. I was worried that I was gonna be sued for the money.

I do admit I dislike the eagles very much, but I respect their offensive power. Just not a fan of their players, or their fanbase. (exgirlfriend was a fan, guess thatll do it) No disrespect to you of course. Where did you live at the time that made it a big deal at school. or was it just cause it was MNF

At the time, I was living in South Jersey, about 25 minutes from Philly.

  4. I registered just to post on this thread. Ive been reading for a while, but every time I tried to register on the old boards something stopped me, I think it had something to do with having a gmail or yahoo account

Anyways.... this game was the reason I became a colts fan. I was 19ish at the time, and I never really watched football at the time. I randomly decided to watch the game because I was bored and in the middle of nowhere at the time. The performance and luck of the team at the time floored me. I was hooked instantly. I admit, basing your initial fandom around one game sounds like a surefire bandwagon fan, but over the next few years, I grew attached to every facet of the team, from the players, to the stadiums, to the fans, and the coaching, I love it all and am now and forever a colts fan (not to mention a football fan) simply from the random chance of watching one game. I do admit, I'm a little peeved at Caldwell at times, mainly from that timeout during the jets game last year that caused me to bang my head against a wall, but who am I to judge the owners decision on whos best for the team.

Regardless, this game was awesome, and every time someone mentions some come from behind victory they think is the best of all time, I point at this game and say "Top that".

tldr : This game is awesome, colts rule

I see a lot of your story about how you became a Colts fan parrallels mine somewhat. I didn't become an Eagles fan (or a football fan in general, even though I would watch the Super Bowl) until week 4 of the 1992 season. Going into that week, both the Eagles and Cowboys were 3-0, and were set to play at the Vet on Monday Night. I was a junior in HS at the time, and I remember people making a big deal over the game. I remember one guy in my homeroom class said he had $150 bet on Dallas. So I decided I'd watch to see what the big deal was about. Well, the Eagles beat them handily that night 31-7, and I was so impressed with how they played that I became of fan of the team, and the sport that night.

Oh yeah, the guy who bet the $150 on Dallas was not in school the next day, and the day after that, I heard he moved to Iowa. I never saw him again.

  5. I remember waking up the next morning and turning on the local Philly sports radio station, and vaguely recall them talking about how they couldn't believe the ending of the game, or something to that effect. It took me a bit to realize what they were talking about. I was thrilled, as I hated Tampa at the time.

  6. ray ray should have a good day and i dont see sanchez doing anything against the ravens d

Not likely, but this is the kind of game where either of their defenses can possibly make the big play to win it. This is a game I'd pick the home team, but neither team winning would shock me.

  7. you think the dolphins will beat the chargers and the jets beat the ravens? your nuts

Jets over Ravens isn't a crazy pick, but I can't in any way see Miami winning. San Deigo could likely be a hot pick in suicide pools this week.

  8. DET @ DAL - Hope I'm wrong, but I'm going with Dallas at home.

SF @ PHI - If we don't win, we're in a lot of trouble with games at Buffalo and Washington looming.

MIN @ KC - Is there such a thing as the Ugh Bowl? Both winless, but Vikes have been competitive in all games so far.

WAS @ STL - Had thought the Rams would be better than what they are this season.

NO @ JAC - I don't see a rookie QB keeping up with Brees and that offense. Jax's best bet is another downpour.

TEN @ CLE - As strange as it sounds, both teams could have been 3-0 going into this game. Browns at home.

PIT @ HOU - Both teams lost to the best team's they've faced thus far, and both beat 2 scrub teams. Tough pick, but I go Houston for homefield.

BUF @ CIN - Buffalo takes a 4-0 record, (no that's not a typo) into the Eagles game the following week.

CAR @ CHI - I like Chicago a little more at home.

ATL @ SEA - Don't like either team, and I think Atlanta is a bit overrated, but I like them more than Seattle.

NYG @ ARI - Being a home game for Zona makes this tough, but I'll pick the Giants here.

DEN @ GB - Not much to say. Best team in football right now, and they're home.

MIA @ SD - Good team at home vs a bad team anywhere.

NE @ OAK - Good potential for an upset here, but it's hard picking against Brady and the Pats, especially coming off a loss.

NYJ @ BAL - Flip of the coin game. Going with the home team.

IND @ TB - Tampa gets revenge for the 03 MNF meltdown. 8 years in the making! :P

  9. In retrospect, the Eagles screwed up not giving him a chance to be our DC. Why Reid thought an offensive line coach, who's last defensive coaching gig was at a highschool 22 years ago, would make for a good DC is beyond comprehension. We may beat the 49ers this week, but Buffalo is going to tear our defense apart in 2 weeks.

  10. I liked Belichick's decision to go for it, but just like our game against Atlanta last week, if you know you're going to go for it on 4th down (or have to in our case), I thought he should have ran the ball on 3rd down. Would have given him a better chance at positive yardage. Same with our game last week. As well as our line and Shady were playing, they should have ran it on 3rd and 3.

  11. I found the show to be very well done. I'm looking forward to next week's show about Jerome Brown and Reggie White, even though I only started following the Eagles in week 4 of the 92 season and Brown died during that summer. I also only got to watch White for less than 1 season in an Eagles uniform.

  12. It would not surprise me at all if behind closed doors there was a bounty on Vick given the bad blood there by the city and the owner (yeah he might say he loves Vick and all the right things but you just know he was FUMING over the garbage time scores 2 years ago)

Not sure I follow you on this. Who was fuming over which garbage scores?

  13. Oak vs Buf Tough pick since I don't know what either team is at this point, but I'll go with Buffalo.

GB vs Car An extra 3 days to prepare, and simply the better team. Green Bay.

KC vs Det Detriot rolls on at home.

Cle vs Ind Tough pick, but I'll go with Indy at home.

TB vs Mn Again a tough pick, but I like Tampa a little more.

Chi vs. NO Saints roll in their home opener.

Jac vs NYJ Jets defense faces a much easier test this week.

Sea vs Pit Pitt in a blowout after last week's embarrassing loss.

Bal vs Ten Ravens should win easy.

AZ vs Was Hoping for AZ, but I'll go with Washington at home.

Dal vs SF Again, I hope for San Fran, but I'm going with Dallas.

Cin vs Den Tough pick. Going with the home team. Denver.

Hou vs Mia Still don't know how good Houston is, but I like them here.

SD vs NE Pats haven't lost a regular season home game in 28 tries. They'll make it 29.

Phi vs Atl The one pick I hope I'm most wrong about, but this just smells of a classic Andy Reid team let down with a big opportunity on the line to put a hurting on a conference opponent. Falcons.

Stl vs NYG Giants rebound against the one team hurting as much as they are.

My picks were bad last week, hopefully I do better this week, though I'm hoping one of them is wrong.
