  1. I think he is not a penetrator at DT, he is more of a block occupier, he does fit the NT role but in a 4-3. With another 10 lbs, yes, I do believe he can be a good back up 3-4 NT if he does not lose athleticism.

Saints are releasing both Shaun Rogers and Aubrayo Franklin. Both of those are good 3-4 NTs but failed as 4-3 NTs.

I normally agree with you but come on...ten pounds won't make much of a difference to a guy who is already 300+

I would prefer going with Franklin or Rodgers in FA for the right price so we could go after more *. players early in the draft, but Johnson would be a decent fit as a back-up

  2. I think Dwayne Allen is better then Fleener actually and according to cbssports he is to

I agree, I like Fleener and all but Allen has a good chance to be there at 34 as well. If we go TE early I'd rather it be Allen than Fleener.

maybe Fr33upFr33n3y could get a video analysis on AllenvsFleenervsGreen since I see Green's name in a lot of mocks...just a thought

  3. Am i the only one that thinks posts involving Peyton need to go into the nfl section, seriously this isnt helping anything coming to the forum and seeing every post in the "Colts" section involving peyton......isnt it time to move on? i know this isnt easy, its really hard to deal with but its time. Not saying im not interested in whats going on with him, but i can check the nfl section or nfl.com for my peyton updates, i go to the Colts secton of this forum to discuss COLTS football and Peyton is no longer a current part of the team. We are all going through this together, but its not helping coming here everyday and reading "Peytons arm better than ever" or "Peyton, Addai,Clark may go to same team". Am i going crazy or does someone else understand what im going through here?

meh I see where you're coming from since I too get annoyed at some of the posts talking about who we should DRAFT in the colts forum when there is a draft forum for that, but seeing that I hardly ever post in this forum right now it really doesn't bother me.

  4. Why didn't indy make this same trade or even more and then look for barkley or jones next year? Just an opinion and would love feedback.

imo Jones is garbage and you can't guarantee that we will be picking with the first pick next year for Barkley( It's looking like it will be early but you just can't assume you're going to be the worst in the league). And if you think of it from Gigs' and Pagano's perspective, you're basically throwing away your first year as HC and GM to get picks for the following year(s) and with the amount of leeway for new head coaches anymore, that is not exactly the most appealing approach.

  5. Also, you can throw in the fact that Grigson is a former O-lineman and that Pagano has said that he wants to re-establish the run game. It all points to going interior O-line early if it's not addressed in FA. I'm all for bpa with the current state of the Colts which means I will likely be disappointed with our 2nd and 3rd round picks with the amount of talent that seems to be there with the position players...I really hope we can sign a guard in FA

  6. They did what they had to do to get their guy. You guys act like the Skins were the only team trying to move up to this spot, they had to beat the other team's offers and they had to be sure they would beat them. If RG3 pans out those first round picks won't be nearly as valuable as they would be with Grossman and/or Beck at QB, it's a risk but he gives them a better chance then those two regardless.

  7. I know I dont know any of them and they'll all be fine

..I can still watch them on TV.

    But I'm a Colts fan

..and to lose Manning and Bullitt and Freeney and Clark and Addai and Brackett

..at the of a week when I thought we still had them all and were going for the Super Bowl..

I feel the same, we are leaving an era as Colts fans and venturing into another. It's going to be hard to watch a Manning-less, Freeney-less, Brackett-less, and Clark-less Colts team as they have been there since the days I first started being a colts fan. It was difficult seeing Marvin leave too, but regardless, I'm still excited for change and can't wait to see this draft class develop as they are the beginning of the next Colts era. (whether it be the Luck era or remembered as the Manning-less era)

  8. Personally my favorite receiver besides Blackmon in this draft is Mohamed Sanu. He has all the makings of a #1 receiver in the NFL. Good size at 6'2" 215lbs and had 115 catches for over 1200 yards last year at Rutgers. I've hear a lot of great things about him. I'd love him to wear the horse shoe on his helmet.

Same here...except I'd probably slip Floyd in there instead of Blackmon, but that's just me. If we go WR in the second, I'd prefer it to be Sanu.

Just going off these guys though, It would be Jeffery and Toon close at the top with a small drop off to Joe Adams. I know this will seem like I'm just fishing for stuff to bash Alshon with, but I have to wonder if he brought his weight down and really worked on his 40 just for the better payday or to silence the critics. Although with the new rookie cap, the former doesn't seem likely.

I like Toon a lot and would like to grab either him, Jenkins, or Givens if we go receiver in the third.

  9. Hill may be a one trick pony. Not a whole lot of advanced route running in GT's system. He also finished last at the combine in the shuttle and cone drills amongst receivers despite a blazing 40 time. That raises a red flag for me that he may not be able to run more than the deep route on a consistent basis.

"We might be a one trick pony offense, but it's one heck of a trick!" - Nate Burleson on the Lions O (Megatron)

That is just the first thing that popped into my head when I read that. I know, I know, I know, Hill Isn't Calvin.

This is a pretty tough match-up, I don't know who I like more out of the three...I love Hill's size and speed and as someone has already mentioned he is a willing blocker, Wright has me intrigued, and Givens shows some very good value seeing that he will likely be there in the third. If I had to pick one, I'd go Givens and address whoever is the bpa at D-line/DB/interior O-line in the second.

  10. He is certainly fast and elusive lol. But highlight tapes are just that...highlight tapes, they don't show the player's weaknesses. It's just in the two (or at least I think it was two) games that I watched Arkansas, Jarius Wright stood out to me as the better receiver. No doubt Adams is a talented returner and perhaps the Colts need a home run hitter at reciever, I just am a little lower on Adams than most I guess.

  11. I like the draft a lot other than your first two fourth rounders. Not a fan of Adams (would prefer Marvin Jones/Mcnutt/Posey) and Don't know much about Massaquoi. It looks like we used the tag on Mathis already but only to lock him up while they work out a long term deal on him. Also, I don't think we sign E. Mathis, Colston, and Franklin...maybe two of the three but even then I don't know if we can afford them if we keep Manning and take Freeney's cap hit from that trade.

  12. I'm loving these player match-ups, keep 'em coming!

Man, Boykin had one heck of a game against Mich St. But I'm a fan of all these guys and would be happy with them all, as far as placement though, Boykin in the second, he brings some versatility in being a returner (a little small though). I think Gilmore will be gone if we wait till the third but I don't think we should use the second rounder on him for the same reason as Ta'amu. Hayward in the third (although there is a good possibility that he would be gone too).

  13. I have yet to see A Rankings board that has Reyes ranked higer than Ta'Amu

Also, people keep saying Ta'Amu in the third, but I don't know if he make it to the third.

Everybody draft board has him in the top 40.

I said Ta'amu in the third because I don't think he would be the bpa at 34 and thus would not want him there and would rather adress another need there, since we seem to have a few, and go NT later in the draft with guys who Bmore listed. ( I had forgotten about Nicks for a little while until Bmore brought him up)

  14. If we could get either Crick or Wolfe with our comp. 4th I'd be very happy...It all depends on how FA pans out though and where our biggest needs are

just as a side note...the more guys I look up and like that are projected later in this draft...the more tempting it is to side with the "trade the No. 1 pick" crowd. I've never been this into scouting, I'm pretty pumped to see how this draft class will turn out.

  15. Still has 50% motor. I don't know if I wan't that guy. Cox is All motor, so is Derek Wolf but Cox is a gamer I like him in the second round.

HOWEVER, since we are doing this hybrid 3-4 Defense, and we already have Drake Nieves who I think can do what Cox can, and Ta'Amu might get picked up mid 2nd round....we should think about maybe going CB 2nd round and hoping that Ta'Amu falls to the third and pick him up immediately.

Of the 3, Ta'Amu is the definite best fit for NT in a 3-4.

So the way I see it is Hosely 2nd or Stephen gilmore (who i'm still researching) and T'amu in the 3rd which is risky...or Cox in the 2nd round and Casey Hayward in the 3rd which is safe

Cox and Hayward would be beautiful

  16. I think you forgot the first round :)

I was going to do something similar to this but where it was almost like a draft-tree where I give a scenario and you pick your favorite outcome, but like you said too many variables. But I like most of the people you have up here although idk if most of your 3rd rounders will make it to us.

Just going off your board...my top people in each round are: Luck, Reyes/Sanu(moved him up one :) ), Hayward/Smith, Bradham/Bentley/Wolf, (I like all of them in rd 5 except Norman since I don't know anything about him), Hilton/Jean-Babtiste, Jackson/Marshall

  17. If both Still and Cox fell to 34 I think I would want Still, but it would be close. I don't know if he can, but if he can play NT then that would easily separate him from Cox for me...I know he can play 3-4 DE and 4-3 DT, 3-4 NT would bring some needed versatility. I wouldn't mind Ta'amu where previously I had been high on him, It's just that idk if he would be the best talent at 34...if we could get him in the third however, that would be different.
