  1. there are definitely situations where you could go two TE two WR one back. They arent great blocking TE's but that doesnt mean they can't block.

Especially because you could put Tamme in the slot clark on the line. Dont make it seem like its unfathomable to have two receiving TE's in the game at the same time.

  2. this is an example of one difference between the colts and the pats over the years. Even with Tamme not being a great blocker we should find a way to get tamme and clark on the field at the same time. Both create matchup problems. The fact that we havent is just poor usage of the talent available

  3. Im sorry, ive watched all the falcons games this year with an open mind. I really just dont see the matt ryan peyton manning comparison. As stated previously, Ryan is like the 02-06 (pre-moss) tom brady. He puts up good numbers from time to time. wins games (not this year) and does a great job managing the game. Big difference between the two is that brady was on a far superior team.

But I really dont see the comparison to Peyton.

  4. However, our secondary needs A LOT of help now that we have to deal with either Rodgers or Brees or even Vick possibly from the NFC. Brady and Rivers are no slouches either. WR and CB help in the draft is what I am thinking early.

I totally agree, hopefully we can trade down in the draft and stockpile a few picks. Picking at the top of the draft helps SO much, our 2nd round pick we could get is basically the same quality range as a normal 1st round pick for us. That is a HUGE difference.

  5. I think we can do without Garcon and Gonzo, if we draft right next year. Good hands trumps pure speed with drops, when it is all said and done. Blair White and Collie have the hands, just need the outside wideout that can catch more than drop.

Agree, white and collie are good slot guys. Collie being a great slot guy. We need to get another outside WR, one that can eventually replace wayne and be number 2 for now.

Im so excited about the near future of this team. Adding Anderson has helped the run D, and I really like angerer at MLB.

  6. Thats whats making this season so frustrating. We are much better than last year, and IMO the year we went to the SB. We are just missing a QB. Badly. But, maybe we get a high pick. Grab 2-3 major contributors in the draft and then be dominant in 2013 when peyton returns.

This team could get loaded. Add a WR to replace Mr. Drop Garcon. Add a DB and OL/DL. Peyton could definitely win another superbowl or 2 before he retires.

  7. Well, I guess I will throw my 2 cents in.

Trade down, somewhere in the 5-15 range (cant really tell until draft order is set). I would like to get back to 8 or 9.

    Team X gets:

    #1 overall pick

    Colts Get:

    Team X 2012 1st round pick (5-15 overall)

    Team X 2012 2nd round pick.... maybe a 3rd...

    Team X 2013 1st round pick

Yes, that is a lot for 1 pick. But there are teams that are in desperate need of a QB, and the luck hype factor helps the value of the 1st overall pick. A team like the 49ers (harbaugh is coach...) would definitely be interested in trading up for luck. Also, the dolphins, the browns, the bengals, chiefs, seahawks, raiders. Pretty much any bad team.

So at this point the colts have a 1st round pick between 5-15. The first pick of round 2, and another 2nd rounder between 5-15.

1st round: WR (Blackmon, Floyd, Jeffrey. I dont know enough about any of them to definitively say.)

2nd round: We have two. So some combination of OL (probably G) and DB or DT

    3rd round: DB or DT

    4th round: LB

    5th round: OL

    6th round: DL

    7th round: BPA

The great thing about this, we will end up with a high draft pick in 2013 as well. THATS where we can start thinking about a QB. 4 years is too long to sit on the bench. 3 years is great (Rodgers). And, if there isnt a qb we like at that point we can find a significant upgrade at a different position maybe DE (freeney would be getting old), or a stud DT or CB.

What do you guys think about my idea?

  8. Best case scenario, we get the number 1 pick and trade it away for a fortune. With the new rookie pay scale and andrew luck available the number 1 pick will be a hot commodity. We could probably trade it away for a first this year, next year and a 2nd or 3rd round pick at least.

Then pick up justin blackmon, a safety, a corner and a guard in the draft. probably snag a DT and OLB later too.

Not to mention we would likely end up with a high draft pick in 2013

  9. 10 of the browns points came when they got the ball inside of our 30. Just like last week 14 of houstons points came when they got the ball inside our 20 and another 7 on the punt return.

peyton hillis had less than 100 yards on less than 4.0 yards a carry. that is really good, especially since 15 came on one run.

  10. Im from Wisconsin. So naturally I want the Colts to draft C Peter Konz from the badgers. More specificly, im from Kimberly which is 10 minutes away from Konz hometown Neenah. Meaning, I of had the pleasure of playing against Peter Konz. I really want to be able to say that I played against the center who gets to snap the ball to Peyton :)

    Also, hes really good. haha

  11. Don't sweat it buddy.

I feel bad cuz my goofin started an argument. I need to be more transparent at this time because us passionate fans have some raw nerves. I didn't mean to disrespect you or anyone else. Of course Manning is going to haunt us, and consequently, the inevitable endless comparison to whomever lurks in his overwhelming shadow.

I want people to see past the storm we're lost in and realize that the clouds will part. Maybe the season will be a loss, maybe not.

What I do know is that underneath all this craziness, I feel so happy to have football at all this year. Not what I wanted but we got football.

I agree about the football thing. And dont worry, im certainly not offended. People will move on in time. But for the first few games its hard for people (myself included) not to wonder. By week 4 i doubt you will hear anything about peyton other than when will he be back.

  12. Okay, I missed that from Kerry, understandable for a guy who has been here for 17 days.

With that said, just because Manning can mask it doesn't mean they aren't still the real issue. Again, when Manning's back we can't let him get hit like this and he's not coming back for at least two months at the earliest and might not come back at all. What are we going to do then say that it's the QBs fault that he doesn't have a release like Manning or say hey the line is an issue like you said they pretty much sucked today. They have to improve. If they improve Collins is going to improve and the offense is going to improve as a whole.

Ok, we are getting close to being on the same page. The line IS the main issue with the colts offense. I agree. It his is has been for 3 years (this being the start of the 4th). The oline needs to improve if we ever have a shot at another superbowl.

What I have basically been saying this whole time is this, even with the oline playing bad I think we still wouldve won with peyton (sorry ruksak). Thats all im saying. Yes the line has been bad for a while. Yes, that is what has held the offense back the past few years.

    Totally agree with that.

And the D, yes its a problem. But weve known that for a while now. That shouldnt be a surprise especially since not much has changed since last year.

So the question I ask myself is: Did we play any different today (excluding QB position) than we did in most games last year? My opinion, no we didnt. And thats why I think healthy peyton=win (sorry again ruksak).

Maybe you have a different thought process about this than me. but thats the way i look at it.

  13. Its alright bro. I ain't trippin on that. We're all a little frustrated. This isn't the easiest time to be a Colt fan. We got a raw deal, but we're all wearing the same shade of blue.

    :highfive:

ruksak, i have no problem with you or any other colts fans on this board. Im not trying to tell you you HAVE to go elsewhere as gocolts seems to believe. Im just saying, there are going to be a lot of people talking about peyton (myself included). A lot of what ifs. If you dont like it, it would be best for you to ignore it. If you find yourself unable to ignore it and it bother you that much than it would be good for your mental sanity to go to a different board for a while. In no way shape or form am i telling you that you have to leave the board, that you arent wanted, or that i dont respect your opinion.

  14. The ball that slipped out of his hand yes that's his fault. The bad snap had just as much to do with Saturday as it does with him. Even then the Texans had to score after the play, the defense has to make stops but didn't get it done. Again there is a lot of blame to go around tonight and more than just the QB who was just here for 17 days.

Also for several years yes it did have something to do with the line. People forget it was the line that was the main reason we won the Super Bowl. Since then yes it's taken it a major hit and we are now rebuilding it. It's going to take time and not happen over night.

the last 3 years the line has been bad. before that, the line was very good. i will not disagree with that. our line sucks. peyton masks most of the deficiencies of our line. that is the point i am trying to make, and the point doogans was trying to make. And kerry actually admitted that the snap was his fault after the game.

  15. Exactly, who are any of us to tell someone else to go post some place else? How about just ignoring it like you told him to do?

are you that thick? I didnt tell him he had to go elsewhere. I merely suggested that he ignore it, and if that doesnt work try some place else. at no point did i tell him he has to go elsewhere.

  16. Manning would have made different blocking adjustments. Collins probably just left it up to Saturday. Manning would have adjusted routes, altered the cadence, screwed with the play clock, etc., to keep Mario Williams guessing. And again, he would have picked up more than 1 3rd down.

for some reason they cant seem to comprehend that peyton does more work before the snap than after, and thats what makes him great and keeps him from getting hit. Its what makes our line look much better than it is. Kerry doesnt do that. thats nothing against kerry, hes not peyton. for some reason they seem to be under the illusion that everything peyton does in the 38 seconds before the play is nothing. Hes fixing all/most of the protection/route problems so that what happens today doesnt happen!

  17. Why don't you not tell people to go elsewhere just because you don't like what they said? That's uncalled for and is exactly what I was getting at in my first post.

I just said that if you dont like, you cant tell people not to talk about it. People are going to talk about it. And thats why I said you are going to have to ignore it or go elsewhere if it bothers you that much. what other advice should i give him?
