Denver and Elway have a serious problem...because they cant win with him anytime soon...
..I wonder how many choices and players they would give to Indy for Luck?
3 firsts, 2 seconds and Von Miller please!
-
I have to say, though this is great news... why was it ever doubted? Everyone knows Manning is a consummate professional and what problems would he have with Luck sitting behind him?
-
It was always obvious Tebow just isn't a good quarterback. He can run the ball but his passing is utterly horrendous. I have no idea how he managed his Tebow-mania streak but it was always going to die.
-
If he didn't want to come to Colts then why did he enter this draft?
-
No, everyone that talks about Lucks says "I heard this guy on ESPN said he was great, or all of the experts say he is best". Up until watching a video on this board I haven't even seen an actual expert NFL scout talk about it. I have just heard other people(fellow fans and announcers) say the experts love this guy. I am not going to say I know more than an actual NFL scout that is ridiculous, I am not even close to being the most knowledgeable fan. I would just like to hear an actual expert break down what makes him so great, pinpointing qualities to show he is miles above his counterparts instead of hearing people say "well I heard this person say that other people say he is the best QB prospect since Manning." I can't see it, but apparently NFL Scouts do and I am just interested in why. I have talked to a MLB scout and said they only have to watch a pitcher for an inning or two because they are just watching the mechanics of his delivery and for certain qualities. I would imagine QB scouting is very similar, I just want to know what they qualites they see in Luck, things about his release and delivery, what they look for and what makes him special.
This video could help... http://espn.go.com/v...clip?id=7326681
Doesn't break down the smallest aspects of his game but Mel Kiper has ridiculous experience and he's got some very kind words. Says it's going to go into every detail, but it doesn't in that video. Keep watching and it will show you
http://espn.go.com/n...scouting-report might be better.
Actually (how many times am I going to edit this post) that second link is much better - there are tabs that break up every bit of his game

Luck himself has said that it would be beneficial to him if he sat behind a veteran QB for a few years. He said he has no problem with it
And Peyton has said "As far as can I co-exist with anybody? I think I can co-exist with any player I've ever played with." No problems either end, by the looks of it...
-
I reckon we need corner earlier than that.
-
We should get shirts with "I saw Jerry Hughes make a play" written on them, truly a momentous occasion.
-
“As far as can I co-exist with anybody? I think I can co-exist with any player I’ve ever played with. I’ve always been a good teammate that way. To speculate on who we’re going to draft, that’s probably more for other people to do.”

I still don't understand what is so great about Luck. He had a solid career with Stanford, but Stanfords o-line and running game are amazing. Harbaugh went to SF and has a system much like he ran in Stanford and now Alex Smith looks like a million bucks. I am not a Luck "hater", we need to draft an eventual replacement to Manning, I just don't see how he is miles beyond everyone else and where the evidence is that he is the next Manning. I have watched him play and I wasn't too impressed. This draft is pretty rich at the QB position and if we traded with another top ten team we go get RGIII or another top QB and still have what could turn into a quality starter. On top of that we have picks that this team needs because there are alot of holes on this team. I am cool with drafting Luck and understand it, but unlike alot of people here I can see why we would trade the pick as well. Also what is this evidence of Luck being far above everyone else at QB, I have heard the so called experts talk about it, I just would like more of an explanation and evidence rather than "because everyone says so".
What are you trying to say with "so called experts"? Are you trying to say your evaluation of Luck is more accurate than every scout's?

I'm so, so happy. Whatever happens here is amazing - the ideal replacement for King Peyton, or a shedload of picks for the next few years. This is the start of a bright new future for our Colts.
-
He'll definitely be sitting. Peyton is our QB and Luck is our backup. That's the best pair in the NFL, guys, rejoice!
-
Happy new year, guys - I know it isn't for most of you yet but it is for me! Woo!
-
Not just this but Sean Payton broke his leg and we all know what's wrong with our Peyton. Madden curse extended to all Peyton/Paytons around!
I mean, obviously it's just coincidence because there's no such thing as curses, but yeah. Brees was on last year - 4620 yards and 33 touchdowns doesn't scream "curse" to me.
-
If Manning can't play then yes, probably. If Manning can, then it'd be absolute madness.
-
MJD is out?!
That's it then, we've won.
-
Well if the rumour that the pick is worth three 1sts and two 2nds, then they'd be stupid not to trade considering how tied to Bradford they are (I know a lot of people are saying we're tied to Manning but the age makes it a very different situation). Kalil would be great for them, but they have a lot of holes to fill, they're probably worse than 2011 Colts which is saying something.
-
He's certainly not the next Megatron. Public opinion was that in 07, he was the most NFL ready player in the draft and it was pretty much known by all he had the potential to be one of the leading WRs in the game - potential he fulfilled. Jeffrey hasn't shown nearly as much promise.

Numbers are very suspect, you can get an assist for being stood near and watching a tackle these days. Agree with what 21isSuperman has been saying though. Just because the numbers flatter him doesn't mean he hasn't been very good. Shame our coordinators have been very suspect (our normal OC in Peyton is out), and since Murphy took over Angerer has been looking even better.
-
Nobody thinks (or at least I didn't think) you were bashing Manning. End of the day, this thread brings up a topic a lot of us are familiar with but none of us want to talk about, a real elephant in the room. All the points you raise are valid but we're all too scared to accept it as a possibility. All I know is, it would kill me to see Peyton Manning throwing for a different team. But there's nothing we can do, we have to sit and pray he's fit enough by March to warrant us giving him that $28m. I have full faith Peyton Manning's last ever game will be wearing Colts blue, I just hope that that game is played in 2015 and not 2010.
-
I don't think I could stomach Peyton leaving. I've been very pro-Luck on here, several times, but for me it's Manning over him every day. I just don't think my heart could take it!
-
The guy just isn't very good which is probably a good thing - it's a relief for the sport that it isn't a poster boy coming out with this sort of thing.
That said it's entertaining, I can't stand Rex Ryan so good to see him get a shouting. It's still embarrassing behaviour and I don't see Giants tolerating it much longer.

There's an interview with up up on the Colts FB page so he was there in some capacity.

Mr. B
that's revisionist history..
You can find those who said that..many NOW pull a Skip Bayless and say they predicted it... just like you can find those who said Cam Newton wanst ready...
But we all followed the NFL then and almost all scouts talked about was his big body (which became bigger) and arm strength fitting
in with the 'vertical passing game' that Al Davis liked..
I KNOW you remember that......Few doubted Russell would be the Raiders starter for years
Most people admit they didn't think Cam was NFL ready and that he's proved them wrong. Nobody has been hyped to the level Luck has since 98 - Russell was far more doubted than Luck.

Did they change it to Regular Season? Good, stops people needing to get to FG range and being done with the match.
