No way or how the Colts should pay Freeney $8M next season
-
Don't be a jerk because I made a valid point.
No, you really didnt
-
That's like saying its OK for assistants and third stringers to go to the locker room because they have better things to do
seriously? You are comparing a FAN and a PLAYER/COACH and what their requirements should be??
They are PAID to be there....if the Colts want to pay me a 6 figure salary to stand on the sidelines, I'll be there from start to finish too....
-
Turning off a game like this doesn't mean you aren't a true fan....get over yourself.
I watched until the 2nd pick 6 Luck threw. The fact that I found a better way to spend the rest of the game doesn't make me any less of a fan then you are.
This team will be fine and hopefully learn from this. Turning it off just means you can make better use of your time.

I hope they sign one of the big name WR guys this off-season.
Some guys like Avery, Hilton and the like have done ok this year....but that's with Wayne being the focus of the passing game. Without him, I don't know that those guys would have looked as good as they have.
Wayne is getting up there and will only have 2 years left after this one.
I'd like to sign the stud WR to be here the next 5 years to team with Luck as his #1 guy going forward.

I can't believe some people think Collie needs to be re-signed.
-
I doubt we'll see him in a Colts uniform in 2013.
Agree....I'd say with 99.99% certainty that he's not back next year. Way too much money at this point for too little production.

Here's another list of the top 50 FA's
http://nfltraderumor...fl-free-agents/
IMO, Welker is getting up there in years and isn't a guy I'd give big $$'s or years too. I'd rather have some of the other potential FA WR's.
-
Given the cap space they will have, I'd start with signing an O-Line man and one of the big time FA WR -- (Cruz, Jennings, Wallace, Bowe). Those would be my 1st two areas addressed in the FA market. Once that's done, you can look at what to do with the rest of the money you have left over. I think they'll make a good effort to sign Powers as well.
In the draft, I'd love to see them get Te'o (ND homer here). Use this pick on a D player, unless a stud o-line guy happens to be there when they pick. It's way to early to say if they'll be picking top 5, 10 or where exactly. Depending on how high they are picking you might also want to look to trade down to get more picks next year and beyond.

It's funny, but it's almost like people have forgotten how bad last season was.
If Painter were still the QB -- this team is 0-6. Enjoy the fact that this team is .500 and the future is a lot brighter than it was at this time last year.
The Colts have a very good young QB -- and lots of $$'s to spend next year on a very good class of young FA WR (Wallace/Jennings/Bowe/Cruz) and OL (J Long / D Brown).
With a good 1st round pick next year and wise use of the FA $$'s, this team could well win 10 or more games and be in the playoffs next season.

In the Jags game remember that FG that Vinateri missed?
Yes that was the game with the missed FG that I was talking about.
However, as I stated before, Luck is fine and should turn out much better than "fine" down the road.
-
He's 3 -3 and could be 4-2 if not for a missed FG....This team won 2 games last year.
Manning #'s were much worse at this point of his rookie season.
Luck's starting RB is out, he has 1 WR that is better tha avgerage, 2 rookie TE's and a poor o-line.
If you think his #'s aren't good, go back and watch on of the Curtis Painter games from last year.
-
Amazing game and a great comeback win.
Luck is going to be a very special QB.
-
GB - 31
Indy - 17
-
actually they have won 3 of the last 6
Or you can say that they've lost....
1 in a row
2 of their last 3
3 of their last 4
-
The Colts are 1-2 this year after going 2-14 last year....winning 3 of your last 19 games is going to get you ranked pretty low on those things.
Win some games and their "power ranking" will go up....for whatever that's worth.

You can find the jerseys at Kohl's for $100 as well. Depending ont the sales at Kohl's, you can order them online for 30% off -- assuming you have a Kohls credit card.
$70 is still expensive, but better than $100.
-
Doubt that he is cut during the season, unless it gets really ugly.
Also doubt that he's back next season.
-
I wonder if people are serious when they start these threads.
I sure hope not......
-
Refs were really bad....but they didn't cause the Colts to give up an 80 yrd TD pass with a minute left....or their kicker to miss a very easy FG.
Lots of blame to go around today.
-
that was close....he made that by about 2 inches.
If he had missed that, the Colts might have had a help wanted sign out on 56th street tomorrow.
-
Is it time? I'm kinda p-o-ed right now.
AV makes the long game winner last week and misses the easy one today.....terrible miss, may well cost them the game today
-
I just dont see how he's gonna help out the O-Line though....seems kinda small for that!! ;)
-
Jake is just playing the supply/demand game. He has the supply and is waiting for demand to reach the level he is willing to sell his supply.
true, but every week he doesn't sign is a game check lost. I'm guessing a contract that he would sign would be based on playing in all 16 games.
Let's say he wanted $3M this season (that works out to be $187.5K a game). One game is already gone....so that $3M contract is really now down to about $2.8M.
He probably wont signt this week so that's 2 game checks lost ($375K) -- so his max salary (in my example) is now down to $2.625M.
I think he would be a good sign and if they can make a contract work they should....they have too much invested in Luck to not provide him with the best OLine that they can at this point.

I feel dumber for having read that article....
Would he rather the fan base here whine and cry that Manning is gone?
Luck is a rookie QB on a team that is in a position to make the playoffs after going 2-14 last year. Why wouldn't the fan base get behind him and move on with this new era of Colts football???
