My hunch is no.  I think they’ll explain to him that they let Pittman play out his rookie contract and the Colts re-signed him to 3/70.   They’ll tell him they want him to be a Colt for many years and he’ll also have the freedom to shop himself in a year to other teams which will only maximize his deal.

So I’m guessing no, with the understanding Paye will ultimately be a Colt for years to come.

The only problem with that approach is going into FA his price will be higher.

    Extend him now for cheaper

I don't think there will be one.

Ehlinger is the 3rd string. Flacco is Minshews replacement as number 2. If both Richardson and Flacco are down for any amount of time the season is over anyways.

We will ride out Sam Ehlingers contract and then let him drift off to whoever wants him.

I tend to agree with this.

Although I would give Sam the opportunity to compete with Flacco for the number 2

    Holy cow

This was a complete hit job put on AD and unwarranted. We called him AD at Georgia.

At Georgia he was loved and adored by coaches, fans and players. We were all deeply saddened when he left.

The charge that he was uncoachable was one of the most bizarre charges I have ever heard.

This is a great pick by Ballard and suddenly puts the Colts back in the drivers seat for the division

Both Latu and Turner both have the same draft grade of 84. So the Colts must have saw something they liked better than Turner although Turner is the better athlete.

2-3 seasons from now we can look back and see who had the better career.

Might make for a good message board thread

  5. Like other posters have said, not the guy I wanted but I'm very happy with the pick.

You can  never have too many pass rushers and maybe Ballard is thinking the best way to handle Stroud, Lawrence and Levis is to beef up the pass rush and get after them !

  6. Texas’ Murphy, Mitchell, Worthy look to be selected in first round of NFL Draft

Texas Longhorns players Byron Murphy II, Xavier Worthy and Adonai Mitchell seem to be the three Longhorns most likely to be selected on the opening night.

Murphy, a defensive tackle, has been projected in top 20 in multiple NFL mock drafts. NFL Network’s Bucky Brooks had Murphy at No. 8 going to the Falcons in his latest mock draft.

However, Brooks did not have Mitchell or fellow wide receiver Worthy going in the first round while ESPN’s NFL Nation did with Worthy going No. 28 to the Buffalo Bills and Mitchell going No. 32 to the Chiefs.

I forgot about Murphy.  I could see Ballard taking him at 15.

Problem is I would prefer the other WR's over Thomas, I just threw him in there to show how talented this WR class is. My guess is the other WR's I mentioned will be gone and I bet money the Jets takes Bowers at 10.

Ok for the Colts "Cluster" at 15.  Ballard will stay put at 15

    WR

    BTJ

    AD Mitchell

    CB/Safety

    Arnold

    Q Mitchell

    Dejean

    Edge

    Verse

    Latu

    Chop Robinson

One of these guys will be a Colt tomorrow night.

chuckling homer simpson GIF- I have him trading down on a year where this is a perfect year to trade up and get a generational WR. This is the best WR class I have seen in years. = Marv, Nabors, Rome, Thomas, even Bowers who is a TE but like Dallas Clark.

At 15 I see BTJ or AD Mitchell being available.  I don't see Ballard trading up.

Verse is a possibility too.  Q Mitchell as well.

So I think that is your "cluster" of players at 15.

No doubt Ballard likes Mitchell's 9.98 RAS. I also recently read where Bob McGinn a longtime beat writer for the Packers spoke to scouts about Mitchell. Some Scouts raised concerns to him about his Maturity, Coachability, and his Health. ( I also read His Diabetes may have played a role in some of this.) One scout said he almost uncoachable. I did not think he would be up there on Ballard's board.

Not sure what went on at Texas but Mitchell was the model player at Georgia.  He was very coachable.

Kirby Smart runs a very tight ship and uncoachable players would find themselves on the bench or transferring out.

As far as his maturity level, he left Georgia to go to Texas to be closer to his infant daughter.  That tells me alot about his maturity.

The diabetes issue can be treated so that is really a non factor.

Zach Wilson just got traded to the Broncos probably effects their 1st Rd QB plans

Zach Wilson is an interesting player.

He was a NFL combine warrior that could throw the ball 60 yards on the run accurately.

But struggled in reading defenses and at this point is a bust.

    I wouldn't either.

I do think it would take something along those lines though.

Let me ask it a different way.

Would you be upset if we actually pulled this trade off, even though it wasn't something you would of did?

For MHJ ?  I would do it and never look back.

If a top Madden player gets a decent job in the NFL, you will hear about how his Madden success led him on a journey to working in the NFL.

Billionaire owners get on social media and pay attention to trends more than you think.

I would never say never but maybe some owner like Khan gives the madden player a low level analyst job and he works his up to WR coach, RB coach and maybe QB coach.

Sean McVay started out as an analyst

I just thought I would take this opportunity to brag a bit about the fact that I had the opportunity to chat with Peyton at the Masters last week for about 5 minutes.  Truly a bucket list experience and I must say, he has the Southern Hospitality that one might expect but wow- did not expect to run into him and it was quite the experience.  It just had to be the one place left on earth where cell phones are banned, so no picture opportunity unfortunately.

I told Peyton that my first Colts experience was riding to Buffalo in a blizzard when the Colts were 14-0 and they benched him only to lose that game. I said thanks for my first Colts experience being one where he was riding the pine.  He laughed, apologized to me and said that if it was up to him he would have been checking down in that snow storm for 4 quarters.  He thanked me for the support, and was asking me a bit about myself, where I am from, etc.  Quite the gentleman! I think it was obligatory for him to be nice to patrons while he was wearing his Green Jacket, but none the less....a great experience meeting a childhood hero. Lynn Swann walked up to us while we were talking and shook Peyton's hand.  I joked that now was the perfect time for a 10 yard slant- and then slid into the bushes like Homer Simpson with humility.

    Unforgettable experience everyone!

Would love to hear some of your Peyton stories from over the years, since it is a bit of a slow time of year before the draft! Let it fly Colts fans

    Great story !

It would have been awesome if you could have got a selfie with him.
