...that play might as well be tallied as a sack, and a costly one at that.  Watch the play again.  He gets thrown into Brisset.  Just manhandled on that play.

This is a ridiculous take. We've already discussed that play here, and it's clear that Heyward got away with a hands to the face penalty.

someone in the know needs to make that case that his knee injury is why he couldn't hit the broad side of the barn for half of a season. It's really the only variable that constitutes as an explanation for his bad accuracy that might improve, beyond him simply becoming something he hasn't been yet.

Personally I think he caught a case of the yips, maybe from AV. But I also think it's possible he can get over it. I trust FR to evaluate the situation and act accordingly. We'll see!

I've just seen that Jadeveon Clowney is FA at the end of the year.

Clowney just made a big deal about only being willing to go to a legit SB contender. I don't think he's likely to see the Colts as a legit SB contender at this point. So, not likely he'd come to Indy.

In addition, Clowney is a DE and we are mostly lacking a DT.

Heck, I think you're wrong here.

If I recollect correctly, and correct me if I'm wrong, but Eberflus was a CB hire, not McDaniels.

Per this article, he was a McDaniels hire. From that article:

    2. Eberflus’ hiring in Indianapolis is a unique story. Eberflus was picked to be defensive coordinator by Josh McDaniels, who committed to become head coach but ultimately decided to return to New England. The Colts opted to keep Eberflus and two other assistants -- offensive line coach Dave DeGuglielmo and defensive line coach Mike Phair -- while searching for a new head coach. Frank Reich was tabbed as the head man a few days later, and one of the first things on his to-do list was to get acquainted with his new defensive coordinator. “It really couldn’t have worked out any better,” Reich said recently. “I know it’s crazy. It’s really an odd way for it to come together, but it literally couldn’t have come together any better.’’

First I heard he was one of the best. Curios where you got this info?

One of the better, not best.

This article discusses what he did well for Indy and calls it 'a big loss' for us.

This one discusses him as 'one of the better position coaches' in football.

Eh, so awesome his longest tenure anywhere is maybe three years, and that was one time...

I agree, he sure bounces around a lot. Makes me wonder too. But again, I said better not awesome. =)

I mean Haslam just sat there and fired a very experience GM after 2 years.  What kind of chance would Dodds have to build anything significant.?  I'm wondering why Haslam doesn't see that all the stable teams in his division do their best to keep their staff in place?

Exactly, well said. Dodds is a sharp guy, I wasn't surprised in the least when he declined. But then again, the glitz and glam of being amongst the NFL's elite can twist many a man's common sense.

I also believe this is another testament to CB's ability to bring in top talent and keep them. I'm a huge fan of CB. Apparently so is Dodds.

Vrabel like F. Reich took over in 2018. Most of Vrabel’s staff our in new positions as of 2018. C’mon man!

    True,

Their OC and TE coach are in their 1st year. OL, RB, WR, QB coaches are in their 2nd year.

DC, OLB, ILB, secondary, and DL coaches are in their 2nd year.

I don't blame anybody for being hesitant about the Browns job and that includes Mcdaniels.  The ownership for the Browns fires people really fast.  You're on a pretty short leash in Cleveland.  Even the GM doesn't have time to put anything together.

Agreed, and I don't blame a team for not selecting McDaniels either, after what he did to the Colts. Hopefully this development helps us keep Dodds, too.

    Never heard of him.

If you watched the 'With the next pick' series, he's in it. Check out episode 2, Dodds is the one speaking at the 16 second mark. https://www.colts.com/video/with-the-next-pick-love-the-process

Oh, and it's Dorsey who Ballard hangs up on during draft day. Lol. (Episode 5, 2:15 mark, https://www.colts.com/video/with-the-next-pick-the-colts-are-on-the-clock)

This is what Luck suffered in 6 'playing' seasons-

» Torn cartilage in 2 ribs
    » partially torn abdomen
    » a lacerated kidney
    » at least 1 concussion
» a torn labrum in his throwing shoulder
» lingering calf/ankle issue, with possible Os Trigonum

He just wanted to play football, not be a rehab specialist.

Oh, horse crap. I was in the Army for several years and we got paid to do what we were signed up to do. That's it. If you die, your survivors get some extra money, not MILLIONS. Luck played a GAME and got ultra rich for doing it. I am NEVER going to feel sorry for Andrew Luck. Bull fuc-ing shiznit.

I call complete CLOWN SHOES on anyone who feels otherwise.

  13. Here's an article from StampedeBlue from last May.

"For the time being, Colts fans can sit back, relax, and marvel at Ballard and Dodds’ effective “1-2 punch”, knowing full well that the franchise very well could have two of the league’s best talent evaluators under one roof"

Well, after Jacoby's stellar performance all season long, the performance bar in Indy is set pretty low. I would have rather learned a bit about a man you have sitting on the bench during the last four games than needlessly play the pathetic fool that got you into this situation in the first place.

Right this down. Kelly will be the starter week one. When this happens, you all will have to find a great big box so all of you can climb up on and kiss my ***.

Dude....lighten up a bit.....this is all in fun.... Its an opinion board

Am I the only one who had a sort of Matrix-like reaction seeing MikeCurtis have a conversation with MCurtis32 and wondering if this is the same guy where one of his multiple personalities is saying 'whoa buddy!' to the other? :woah:

Plus, I think a lot of this is going to depend on what AC does at LT. If he retires, we are in a world of hurt.

Absolutely agree.  Just knowing AC's considering retirement should impact the FO's strategy to some extent, but if he decides to retire then it'll be a major impact to their strategy towards both FA and the draft.

  16. Congratulations to Ryan Kelly. Well done, young man!

Initially selected as an alternate for a second straight year in 2019, Kelly told Colts.com on Dec. 24 that if he ever made it to the Pro Bowl that “it’d be a huge honor.”

“Yeah, it’s cool. Just to say ‘Pro Bowl center’ or ‘Pro Bowl guard,’ or whatever, it’s a big accomplishment,” Kelly said. “Obviously nobody gets there by themselves. But you have that forever — they can’t take it away from you.”

    Excerpted from: https://www.colts.com/news/ryan-kelly-named-to-2020-pro-bowl

  17. As for CK, I don't have much respect for him as a person, a leader, or a team general. IMO this team needs a good decision maker, not a gunslinger. Seems to me the types of players they've collected would prefer solid strategy and consistency rather than following a guy who's constantly winging it. Maybe he grows up, who knows at this point.

Even with the Colts running game and line, Jacoby nullifies the advantage it could make by his lack of vision, unwillingness to throw deep, lack of touch deep, & and his dink and dunk approach!

I agree for the most part, not sure JB really has a dink/dunk approach (or any approach at all other than being way too conservative with the ball). I just hope that, if the FO still envisions success for JB in the 2020 season, he can learn and grow significantly between now and the start of the season. He doesn't have to be great, but he needs to be good.

As FR said, he thinks JB is top-20. Top-20 wasn't what JB brought to the field this year. That doesn't mean he can't grow into it. I'm still exercising patience and trust in FR's plan. I'm also confident that 'no QB growth from JB' isn't acceptable to FR and doesn't fit his vision. If that's what happens, I would bet he'll move to another option rather quickly. And should that happen, I'm on board with it.

I trust the FO to grow the entire team, including the QB, in whatever ways they can. If the entire team is better next year, it will take some of the pressure off whatever QB we have under center. That's a good thing, looking forward to it!

I still haven't figured out how to post screenshots within a post (instead of links), so if anyone can help me with that, it will be much appreciated.

If you save the screenshots as .jpg files, you can simply click on Drag files here to attach, or choose files... at the bottom left and then find the screenshot you want to post and click on it once, then click on Open. The in the Uploaded Images section, click on the Plus sign to insert the image into your post. That should be all there is to it. If you want, you can click on Preview (the paper with a magnifying glass) in the upper right to make sure it looks like you expected.

1 big play in every game.     Which is inconceivable for Brissett who has not improved since college.   He's not a rookie.   He's 27 years old and has started 32 games in the NFL.   Got to learn from Brady and Luck.   He is what he is.   One of the worst QB's in the NFL.

Good heavens, do you have this verbiage assigned to an auto-repost key on your keyboard? Surely you don't manually retype it multiple times in every thread on the forum...or maybe you do.

    Also, it shows

2 at KC in week 5 (illegal contact, holding)

5 vs Denver in week 8 (3 holding, 2 PI)

1 at NO in week 15 (holding)

1 at Jacsonville  in week 17 (PI)

He had a holding call about every week it seemed. You heard his name plenty

So, it appears his name wasn't heard for a penalty anywhere near every week. It was heard during only 4 games, in fact, for a total of only 9 penalties all season. Pretty good for a rookie CB.
