Great coverage by Carrie. Textbook technique

Its pretty clear that the soft 2 deep man off coverage shell works poorly with our front 4 rush.
We still dont have an elite edge rusher
-
Reich looks like he has no faith in oline run blocking with this play calling

With all tbese mounting injuries, the Colts may not have enough to field a team next week.
Yes. No reason to have starters in. Especially Rivers. Don’t understand the reasoning behind not having backups in other than to stat pad

And I'm sure some folks will defend the D saying "we held them to XX in the 2nd half lol...
Yeah, I really hope no one makes that statement with a straight face

The Colts had huge second half play to beat the Titans a couple weeks ago and the Packers last week. The best teams in the league are not always needing great second halves to win. When you win it's easy to become complacent. I just hope that internally the team doesn't use injuries/COVID as an excuse. The execution today has been an embarrassment.
Well said. Really the inconsistent play from the D caught up with us today.
You cant give up an 17 pts, 28 pts and 35 pts (as we have in the last 3) in the 1st halves of these games and expect anything but a loss.

Well, our D gave up 35 in the first half...
Makes your O pretty one dimensional.
And being one dimensional without a LT, is pretty hard.
Agree 100%
35 pts in a game is bad. The D allowed that in one half without one turnover /short field to defend.
The 7 points given up before the half was as pathetic an effort as I have ever seen
Cant really blame the Offense when the D sucks the life out of the team with a half like that.

Please do not have Rivers throw a 9 route anymore unless the WR is open by a mile, pretty obvious he cannot make that throw consistently anymore
-
The Colts D line has literally had 3 penetration related run stops for short, minimal yardage that they didnt have at all in the 1st half.
Subsequently, they have forced 2 Tenn punts.
Why does it take allowing 35 pts in a half to actually start showing fight?

Q eye roll.
Our DBs are not impacted and look horrible. Our run D shouldn't be near as impacted by injuries, but it looks bad too.
Same old song. Bad 1st half D.
You had to figure Henry would get his yards today. I was hoping that there would enough of the short yard stops (like we saw on the Titans 1st drive of 2nd half) to force 3rd and longs to make Tannehill have to throw in obvious passing situations.
I just dont get how they can look so bad repeatedly in 1st halves of games. It cant just be scheme/adjustment related
-
I dont get it. Why does it take getting your tail kicked for an entire 1st half before you actually start playing D?

Halftime thoughts
1. I have been one to criticize the D multiple times this year, but realistically, can't say that this is surprising considering who we had and didn't have at the D-line, the type of team we were going up against. Bad combination of events and frustrating that it happens in a key divisional game where a win would have really put in drivers seat for AFC south. I guess thats the breaks of trying to have a season while battling a pandemic.
2. The only path this team has to winning (especially against playoff caliber opponents) is when the defense plays lights out, strong football. The offense is not an explosive play offense. They are not capable of playing shootout type games. They will draw blanks first when that happens. When they are consistently playing from deficits, it is only a matter of time before they are unable to come through.
3. If things don't turn quickly in the 3rd, it might be best for Rivers and other starters to sit. No point in risking further injuries. We still have a lot of big games left and best to have our best players available for those.

I know this is a bad game to ask this, because of the injuries, but what the crap is wrong with our offensive line?! Then have taken a massive regression this year. They do not open holes for the running backs. They are constantly being pushed back. Why are we so much worse this year than last?
O-line has not been as good as last year, but this game its hard to critique them too much IMO when Clark and Pinson are playing instead of the starters.
Also they havent had a chance to run considering how poorly D has played

Top 2? You really think Autry is our second best DL this year?
You can make an argument for him, Stewart or Houston.
I give nod to Autry based on some of the plays he has made at clutch moments

Too many players missing today. The love fest for Henry is comical! Like they are shocked we’ve given up over 100 yards rushing in a quarter with essentially the entire D line out for Covid reasons. Do these announcers do any research at all!
Yeah its a little ridiculous to fawn all over Titans running game when our top 2 d-linemen are out

I think its safe to say Buckner is well worth the 1st rounder and large contract we gave him.
His stats may not jump off on the page, but his impact is very noticeable.
Ballard wasnt messing around when he said 3 tech really drives this D
-
The problem with Rock is that its pretty clear he has reputation and clearly the refs are watching him a lot closer.
Need to upgrade the CB position this offseason. Have to have someone that can play against the opponents WR1 and not get burnt or flagged repeatedly.

That TD drive courtesy of Ya-Sin...one of the weak links on D

Please bench Rock

Have yet to see one play where D-line penetration causes Henry to change direction. He is just able to get on his running lane and build a head of steam Very difficult to stop him that way. Really feel absence of Buckner and Autry with that

-
Hopefully, AC able to return. Needless to say, big dropoff at LT if Clark has to man that position
-
Gotta give Jacoby credit, he is really putting his head down and making some tough runs, doing what he is asked even though he is not a natural running QB.

I get that Buckner is not playing and is obviously a big loss today but why is this defense look like garbage during 1st halves of multiple games this year.
I will say it again: cannot keep playing like this against good teams and hope to do anything in the playoffs.

Nice answer offense!

So is Ya-Sin benched? Haven’t seen or heard his name other than on starting lineup grid.
