Yeah I know, two WRs was not factoring in Campbell.  I edited to include just one WR and put RB ahead of FS because even though Mack is only slightly less replaceable than Hooker, who is beginning to be a complete nonfactor, we need something more than Hines, who is pretty much nothing but a PR/KR at this point.

Two DTs have been and still are the number one priority.  And I put TE in there because half this board says that Doyle can't get the stats like Ebron does, even though he can when he's actually targeted, but we need two TEs anyway, so its a pretty high priority.

We could use an upgrade at QB.  But the rest of the roster, overall, is much much worse than our QB.

I just don't see it. RB, CB, FS aren't needs for this team, at all. WR and TE while I'd say are areas to be addressed they aren't in dire need. QB is by far the most impactful position on the team, and our starter is a backup level player.

Most people would say Russell Wilson is the best QB in that draft now only because Luck retired. Many would still say Luck is the better talent.

The argument of Wilson being better could have already been made...in fact outside of coltdom I'd think most would favor Wilson.

Now it will be interesting to see how Cousins career actually turns out. Luck may not even go down in history as one of the top 2 QBs from that draft...

Just no. Rivers arm is gone. Manning is a statue.

Kurt Warner was a statue when Eli was drafted...and Warner was there to fill the same role

Edit: for those not tracking, after Warner bridged the gap to Eli he statued his way to a Super Bowl appearance with the Arizona Cardinals

Ok I know I'm reaching but aren't Brady and brees free agents ?if they came free do u take shot on a 2 year deal and groom a draft pick

I don't think either of those 2 are realistic as they will be retained by their teams. But Rivers, Manning, and Roethlisberger may be available and good options to bridge the gap for a young QB.

Ok.  I hate when. A term gets used so often that it completely loses its meaning.  Luck was not the best QB of his generation.  Of guys close to his age, or in his "generation" He's not head and shoulders above Matt Ryan, Russel Wilson, Derek Carr, Garroppolo, etc.... Just like when people say a player is prototypical..... That means he's the first of a kind, but everyone uses it to try and say someone matches the desired qualities of a position.....

    /End rant

Prototypical does not have to mean the first of a kind. The second definition you used is indeed a definition of the word "prototypical."

Probably not until mathematically eliminated from the playoffs.

Not to mention the contract they gave JB, makes the management look bad, if they admit they made a mistake.

I don't remember the specifics of his contract, but I'm pretty sure it is easy to get out of and he could be cut after this season with minimal financial impact

  7. Somewhere around week 5 this same discussion was had on this forum. I listed my priorities as

    QB

    DL

    OT.

That still seems like the right order to me. Obviously QB should be the top priority.

Kickers are easy to find after the draft.

WR/TE is also a need, but I wouldn't say it's as needed as qB, dl or ot.

It’s not a complete failure but the Colts are close to NFL no man’s land because of that.  It’s better to be really good or really bad than average.

Definitely. But my main point was that we hovered around average with a unfortunate QB situation. An upgrade to that one position could swing us 3-4 games...which would be really good

I mean, given that Vegas had the Colts pegged as legit SB contenders, as did observers going into this season, being 6-6 isn't a complete failure, it's just really close to one.

I'm just going to sit back and wait this out. Ballard has his work cut out for him. I hope he's asking the right questions though.

That was assuming the colts had a top 5 QB though.

  10. First of all, think of what has happened the last couple times we unexpectedly lost our starting QB. The team was fighting for the #1 overall draft pick. All arrows point to this team finishing 7-9, which means the overall talent has increased, and is not as reliant on superb QB play as it has been in the past.

On paper the D is actually good, just not good enough to carry a team. There is some great building blocks on offense, especially the o-line. Our RB Corp looks like it will continue to be legit. We have our answer on what Jacoby is, and that is a great backup/ fringe starter QB...and there's nothing wrong with that, but he should not be plan #1. We have a couple of young promising pass catchers, but this is an obvious area that needs to be improved in the off-season.

I know it sucks to look at a lost season, but there is still hope for the future with this squad...with Ballard continuing to build and fill holes through the draft.

I do agree with, he holds on to the ball too long and even misses guys down the field at times per the All-22. Actually over half the QB's in the league do that though. Luck even held on to the ball too long at times IMO. Reich is a good coach, maybe he can come up with something where JB is throwing more quick slants and screens. That is a great question, why aren't we throwing more screens to guys like Hines for example.

No QB is perfect, at times they will all hold on to the ball too long, and they will all occasionally miss wide open targets. Every single one of them. The problem is that this season JB hasn't found them at all. He is not occasionally missing them, he is always missing them.

Are you seriously counting the 2017 season? Not even Luck makes the playoffs with that team.

So the team around him has improved, but still the same JB. At least in '17 he had an excuse of no time to go through his progressions. Now he has time to do it, he just doesn't.

I don't know, this is a 50/50 game. We have no good WR's with TY, Campbell, and Funchess out. When Pascal is your #1 that isn't good haha . Most love to blame JB for everything but his WR core has been banged up or missed games most of the year in reality. Even Ebron has played injured and is now gone.

To the OP, some already have their minds up that JB stinks after playing in only 9 games lmao  so unless he and the team wins the SB they won't change their mind. I will be amazed if JB is successful tomorrow with the WR and TE core we have now.

JB is not a rookie, he started the entire 2017 season except one game.

  14. Probably just shut him down. Front office finally realized that JB isn't the answer and any accidental wins just hurt our draft position and ability to replace the QB.

    Just kidding...kind of
