I saw some analysts showing how good Mack is in pass protection. That could be another reason.

He's probably been the best pass protecting back in the league this year. It amazes me that some here say that's a weakness for him.

He has better vision than Mack and is more decisive. He's also a very good pass protector, from the little we've seen of him.

I'm disappointed he hasn't gotten more chances. I think he's a good complement to Mack. He must be in the dog house due to his fumbles, or something else that we aren't aware of. But it's not just an issue of the other guys being better than him.

I'll take your word on the better vision aspect, but I don't really recall Mack missing any obvious holes throughout the year.

  3. Mack is a better runner, receiver, and blocker.

Hines is a much better receiver.

I don't really see a situation that you would want Wilkins in over either of them.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think Wilkins is bad, or doesn't deserve playing time, he's just behind two more deserving players. I'm very happy with the RB situation as is.

  4. The colts can't rely on Cain coming back full speed, and immediately being a #2 WR, he will essentially be a rookie. The WR corps is possibly the weakest position group on this team right now and definitely the weaklink of the O, it needs to be addressed.

Also, keep in mind Hilton will be 30 next season. You're probably only looking at acouple more years of elite level production. Ideally we can find someone soon that can be the immediate #2 and future #1. Just like Harrison to Wayne.

  5. Yeah, Pagano seemed like a genuinely nice guy, but it terms of coaching he was average at best.

If you want to talk about former head coaches to bring back, Caldwell would be slightly more realistic. Fired for the dumpster fire that the Polians lit (no back up plan to Peyton). Had the Lions turning it around and unjustly fired after a 10 win season (wonder how happy Detroit is with Patricia now).

That '95 season is probably my favorite. (The playoff run is hard to top and i was in Pittsburgh for the AFC championship game.)

    After 2006 of course.

That '95 season is when I became a fan, also when I first really started watching football. Prior to that season most of Indiana was Bears fans, with Bengal fans sprinkled in on the east side.

It’s not so much the comeback itself but rather his maturation as a leader that is happening before our eyes. He isn’t afraid to put his foot down and light a fire underneath the team to push them to another level of play.

Luck has been a team leader for the last 7 or so years. It's not happening right in front of our eyes now, because it's already happened.

Bell's issue is also staying healthy for a full season workload.

Why would we spend $15 'extra large' a year for the right to put our young 1,000-yard back on the bench?

I'm on your side lol. I don't think any of our RBs need to be replaced, especially not Mack.

You're right, that's not lower half, it's average.  60 yards a game over a healthy season gets you 1k yards, 1k yards isn't the milestone it used to be.... I like Mack, and am not advocating for Bell over him. 1200 yards isn't as impressive as it used to be.  Unless you figure in the lack of teams using a true "Lead" back nowadays....   Not sure Bell is the answer, but it's interesting to think about.

Tell Maryse I said Hi!  lol

Last season 9 RBs had over 1,000 yards. 3 had over 1,200. I'd say 1,000 is still a pretty good measuring stick for RBs. I want to see what Mack can do playing an entire healthy season. Because when he's healthy you can tell, and when his dinged up he kind of stinks.

I think Bell on this team would be intriguing, but I don't see RB as a need, and I don't see the team spending over the top money on him.

  10. Prior to the season most "experts" thought the colts were a 4 or 5 win team. I was expecting somewhere between 7-10 wins. We could lose the next two games and I would still consider it a successful season, especially with how it started.

If we win the next two and don't make the playoffs, I'll be a little disappointed initially. But I can see where this team is headed. The next few years should be really entertaining for colts fans.

Wouldn't that apply to every free agent ?

I'm becoming convinced that that Mack may not be started material.  I like him allot, but he's in the lower half of RB's in my opinion.

Mack will be close to 1,000 yards with missing four games. That's not lower half rb production. Mack's issue is staying healthy for a full season/workload.
