I'd say at this point it's too late. I don't agree with trading him right now though.
The way it’s going, it could be too late. I will still stick with this team’s decisions, and still support JT from afar because at the end of the day he has done a lot for us in a short time

It's not even his turn yet is the thing... His turn would be next season not this one...
I hear you I do, but again both sides have legitimate arguments. There has to be compromise if this is going to end well which it does not seem that way

The average person cannot speak on someone with a completely different lifestyle. Someone who makes millions of dollars cannot be grouped in the same issues of someone who makes the normal pay scale. Both are in different situations, the easiest example would be let’s say taxes. We can all agree, athletes make much more. Like I mentioned this previous week when I got a little push back, fans turn on these players so quickly regardless of the situation. I will agree both sides are wrong in some areas, but both sides also have an equal amount of reasonings behind their statements. Like Pat said, both sides need to have compromise.
P.S. to be fair, put yourself in Taylor’s shoes. Since coming into the league, your GM preached about paying the players that deserve it. When it’s your turn, then the philosophy is changed.
There needs to be a little more Empathy for JT on this issue

To be fair he didn't really pass to stuffed runs and a holding penalty isn't on Richardson
Would understand even if he had a down day since he is coming off of a surgery on his face. I’m sure he is congested. Plus he haven’t really had a bad day since camp started, so one is expected to come im sure

Hoping Brent’s and Rush can get out there soon. Almost feels like half of our rookie class has been hurt so far. Been noticing a bunch of injuries around the league this year too.

Agree with the statements above. I've come to the realization that Taylor will no longer be with this team unfortunately... Rather wait on an interview with Taylor before coming to a conclusion on what to even think about this whole thing

He has zero value right now trade wise.
Seeing how Dalvin Cook situation went down, i'd have to agree

No sense in trading Taylor unless you get a very good return for him.
I look at it this way, this could be a good opportunity to get good draft value in return. It all depends on how the league See's his value. I hate that it got to this point, and so fast at that.

This guy is shooting himself in the foot. Way to let every organization know that deals should not be done with you at the table.
Yep unless something crazy happened behind closed doors, why are you taking it to this level so early in contract negotiations (assuming they just started having talks this off-season). Dont burn a bridge before even walking across it

So apparently this agent and Irsay have some kind of history that goes clear back to 2012 lol.
This whole RB situation seemed to go down hill so fast...

This is becoming a circus. That's JT's agent
This is not what we need right now...both sides need to keep this behind closed doors. Irsay, I love him but sometimes he invites unwanted tension

Sign Cook; much more durable and productive. Guess the dreaded running back committee.
I believe cook said that he wasn't signing anywhere below his value, so he as well is wanting to get paid. Not sure how successful that may be though

This was a nice surprise. Would not expect such a mature action from a second year player. Earned some points with me for this one. Relying on Kenny to be more hands on as well throughout camp with this unit

What a weird post.... Nvm, just caught the username. Wow.... Seeing as "he's only ever" hasn't even consisted of his rookie contract yet.... I wouldn't expect any less of a player. Any player. He could have played LBer for years....or WR, Safety.... QB.... What's that? He's amazing as RB? That's great! Take what's top end pay for a RUNNING BACK then..... He hasn't even played out his FIRST contract. I don't care what stats you throw out, he's likely going to get rewarded handsomely in a few months.... Ballard isn't exactly stingy with Irsay's money at any position, especially the non premium variety.... No one's "turned on" your precious idol.... It'll be just fine.
Lol not sure how my name makes him my idol?? If I was forced to even say an idol that I do have, it would be Barry Sanders. At the end of the day, I want our leaders to be compensated off the production they produce on and off the field. If Taylor continues to do what he needs to do, then yes I would hope Ballard indeed is not stingy with Irsay's money. Time will tell eventually. Anyway I'm just in a wait and see mode at the moment and just enjoying the return of football

I don't know who has turned against him. I don't think there is a reason to extend him until they see how he rebounds from the injury and see how he plays in the new system. I love JT and think he will flourish. I hope they throw the ball to him more
Yea going off of Ballards comments earlier, we are going to see how well he fits into this new system. I agree, he will flourish and bring good production. Just hope when it's our turn to show up with the checkbook, I hope we do right by him

The tag status doesn't matter. He's eligible for an extension, and is trying to leverage his way into getting one. Or at least make a point.
Or maybe he just didn't pass the physical yet. But I think it's a calculated move. I'm not super concerned about it, yet. If he's hiding from the media and we're not getting any info about it for several days, then it will start to bug me. But it's business, and this stuff happens.
For example??
Shared just a couple above, but there are plenty more out there

You seem to be supporting my reply to you in another thread. The guy is a class act and represents the team well in addition to doing his job. He should be paid.
Fans have turned against him? Why?
I can't group our entire fan base with that one statement, but definitely a select few. I've seen comments on different platforms with very short sighted opinions. One example I usually see is that "Taylor was ok, until Saquon Barkley and Josh Jacobs had issues with it" and a few that group RBs together saying, "they already get paid millions and should be happy with that"....I just can't agree with how easily the league and it's fanbase are ok with mortgaging the RB position and throwing them away like trash when it's time to pay.

This is contract related with Taylor and it is kind of crappy. He isn’t on the franchise tag so this is just wrong.
It’s clearly a good out situation.
I will support Taylor and all runningbacks on this matter. Especially Taylor, he's done nothing but came in and put his head down and worked with no complaints ever. I don't see it as just paying him as a runningback, but also as one of the leaders of this team. I'm disappointed in all of the fans that have turned on him so easily and said nasty things about him. Gives me that post Andrew Luck retirement vibe.

They did. He said the Rogers thing didn’t change anything and there was a reason they drafted 3 CB.
Oh I see, I only caught the Rosgers comment. Guess it will be birth by fire for our young guys this year.

Welcome back everyone! Surprised no one asked Ballard about the lack of veteran presence in the cornerback room
-
Like Barkley said, it’s all about respect. We should pay Taylor, because one injury riddled season should not disqualify him for a new contract. We waited too long to find a Franchise RB, can’t take him for granted because of a league technicality. Probably in our best interest to pay him now before any other RB receives a new contract. The price will only get higher the longer we wait. Richardson is in his rookie deal anyways
-
Overall this draft was amazing. Probably put it up there as a top two for Ballard. Have faith that we will add veteran depth to the G. Add Griffin to the secondary, and this would be a complete homerun this off-season for us

I wish, but starting to doubt it. We had the worst OL in the league last season. Why wouldn't we try to improve it?
In a position to be able to focus all of our resources into the line after the draft when you think about it. There are still lots of options out there

Jonathan Taylor comments on his contract/Request trade (Merge)

For sure, and I see everyone’s point of view. It’s just that it’s not as simple as a lot of fans are making it. For an added note, JT could easily use the Shaq Leonard situation. Was he not coming off of an injury but was still paid handsomely? As it is made clear with so many view points, there are just too many variables in this issue. Clearly there is no right answer OTHER than one side or both sides compromise.
