JB is used to it by now. If he reads this forum, he probably thinks people think he stinks anyway. Sad because JB is above average, he just isn't Luck.

I mean you only read these forums as a player If you want to feel like crap.

I thought about that also. But it's not like they couldn't have signed another kicker at any point this year. I'm having a hard time believing that they like McLaughlin so much that his availability is prompting them to shut down AV, if they weren't already leaning in that direction.

Hard to blame vinny 100% when the special teams has been atrocious.

The Niners had two kickers active for the last month, due to injury.

We'll see if a move comes, and maybe it does, but I bet AV kicks this week. And the bigger point is that the timing of this move was dictated by the Niners, not the Colts. If they wanted to move on from AV, they could have at any point this season. To me, they claimed a player they wanted, doesn't mean they're ready to shelve AV.

    Again, I could be wrong.

The other side of the coin is as soon as this guy became available they start talking about AV being injured. Maybe they liked him enough? Oh the speculation.

I think with us this year, it is the injuries to the wrong players. If TY and Mack just could've stayed healthy all season we are probably 7-5 or even 8-4. When a team loses their #1 WR and #1 RB it is tough to win.

For sure those are major injuries and then Ebron kicks you while you're down. No doubt it's been a tough year injury wise. It would just seem it's always like this every year with some major guys. If it's not Andrew its TY. If it's not TY its Mack.

  5. I think the idea that the Colts will ever be healthy is a pipe dream. Obviously, ideally, you have a mostly healthy team. But the deal is that isnt close to reality. Every season we talk about how injured this Colts team is. And how "we gotta be the most injured team". Cant count how many seasons I have seen at least one poster say something like that.

All Ballard can do is keep stacking good draft on top of good draft. Keep hitting most of your picks. Whether or not you're a huge Ballard believer or not, you cannot say he hasn't done a tremendous job with this team.

One thing I hope he has learned, is the need to draft a top WR in the early rounds. Either this year, or next year. The Colts havent had a stable 1-2 WR combo since Reggie was here. Both Reggie and Harrison were first round picks, and by god Grigson lucked out on TY Hilton being so good (a third rounder).

The top 2 needs on this team are QB and WR. After that I would be majorly on board with RG/RT being 3rd priority. This line just isnt solid enough on the right side. Some might argue pass rush needs more attention than the oline, but in the end this defense has held teams to less than 30 in most of the games they have played this year... Draft a QB. Draft a top notch WR along with the oline and you're all in, SB bound in the year 2021.

Not sure the relevance to him and father time?

But sure (on their schedule), and ours was a lot weaker than originally thought. I'd bet our SoS and theirs is pretty similar. Regardless, they beat who they were supposed to beat, and have only lost twice on the road to division leaders. They beat two teams we lost to, by a combine

The scheme in and of itself is top notch. It doesn't have anything to do with father time.

The Patriots remind me of the Olympic hockey team for Russia some 30 years ago or so. They beat you before they even played you...

The Colts arent the Patriots. This is a new scheme. New, lesser QB. I believe strength of schedule helped the Patriots tremendously. But it doesn't really matter to me. You notice they lost against the ravens and texans. Both considered a top AFC team. Everyone else was scrap meat.

Lately the top kickers have been going way earlier than they used to go. Round 4-5 is not unreadable for the top kickers to come off the board.

The shortage of kickers this year will push these guys higher

I don't think father time is responsible for their O struggles this year. It's a lack of TEs and WRs and OL that took a step back. Their running game that was top 5 last year is bottom 15 this year. Even with all that, they are still top 10 in passing and points per game. It's not like he's been struggling with injuries either. Had they kept Brown, I think we'd be saying wow.

It is known the patriots schedule has been a cake walk.

What about QB? Second round or stick with JB? Personally I think we have to trade up for a QB in the first, but I’m interested in what you’re saying

It depends where the colts pick at. So far JB hasn't responded to games well when everything is on the line. So we maybe finish 1-3. Giving us a 7-9 record then we will be picking 12-16 range which there should be a few good QBs available.

Yeah...that was a pretty fluff interview overall. Ballard is very good at talking to the media...and very good at answering without really saying anything when he wants to. He controls the narrative...and sometimes he will be transparent...and other times not.

This past quarter of the season was mostly just bad...as they went from 5-3 to 6-6...including critical losses to divisional rivals and MIA...and very likely out of the playoffs. But I don't think it's really Ballard's style to say the those types of things.

I think Ballard has come away this season knowing JB isnt the answer. JB knew he had to earn it, and while he will finish out his contract, and maybe take some significant steps forward this off season and into next year, I just dont see JB being able to do so by the end of 2020. And I'm sure Ballard doesn't see it either. Drafting a QB this year, and letting him sit, while giving JB every chance to show hes the starter is a win win.

I rarely question Ballard as I think he is a great GM but IMO we should've never let Inman go in the first place. I said that right before the season started.

Man of us agreed with you too.

  12. Colts have squandered every chance they had to remain in 1st of our division. Then had a chance to maintain and gain, and squandered that. My hope is they lose out so that we can have a better draft, but not at the loss of the respect of the lockerroom... the playoffs are out of reach for this team.

What concerns me is this offense having to be totally rebuilt and aging parts on dline. I feel by the time we finally put it all together we might end up wasting guys like Nelson, Moore, and Leonard. I know they are young but before we know it they will be 30.

Ballards window imo, is 2021-2026. I see him drafting the next franchise QB this upcoming draft, he will sit for 1 year and we become SB contenders in 2022 with what will hopefully be a well rounded team by that point.

Yea I don’t see how brissett isn’t the opening day starter next year. But I do think we draft a QB high this year too compete and groom for the future. We have the picks to trade up this year if CB sees fit.

If you're ever going to trade up this year or the next is the time to do it.

Huntley seems like a game manager to me. Not a lot is asked/expected from him. Utah has had a relatively easy schedule yet Huntley hasn’t put up elite QB numbers. He’s an efficient QB, but not really a game changer. He will be a late round QB but I don’t think he’s the type we are looking for. Seems like another Brissett

Maybe as a back up. Brissett wont stay here once his contract is up if the Colts draft the franchise. No way is he going to return to backup.

This. Injuries aren’t always a problem if your not losing key guys. It’s where you lose them. You can cover up defensive injuries easier then offensive injuries. We did pretty well with the defensive injuries which showed our depth. The offensive injuries have killed us.

And before anyone mentions Luck just stop. We don’t have Luck. The biggest injury that has turned this season upside down was JB. We would be sitting pretty for the playoffs had he not got hurt.

This year the Loss of Andrew can be considered because he did it 2 weeks before the season began. They prepared as if Andrew was starting. I dont want to hear about JB getting all the practice reps. This team prepared to have Andrew. Next year we can say otherwise.
