its all a giant conspiracy.  Luck's retirement was a ruse to allow him to seek experimental and top secret total body titanium upgrades. He's gonna unretire in January, so they don't need to evaluate any other QBs. This ensures a top 12 draft pick, for which Ballard will turn into 3 top 10 draft picks next year. Making the Colts a super team with a cyborg at QB that cannot be hurt, tired and have a 100% completion rate on 90 yard throws.

I am not sure Ballard is qualified to make key decisions for this team.  A lot of people drank the look aid,  I didnt.  I said with Luck leaving it would show how much takent is really on this team.  We have our answer

  3.  As much as anyone wants to claim this defense isnt like Dungys, I beg to differ. This scheme needs a dominant pass rush, and an above average to great DT who can help collapse the pocket aswell in order for it to be a great defense. The same could be said of Dungys defense in particular.

I dont think the Colts need to change schemes I think the defense is missing vital pieces it needs to be what its supposed to be. You cant skimp on pass rush in this scheme and it is majorly ineffective without a great DT in the middle. Polian might have thought it was cheaper back then, but now, pass rush and great dline guys arent cheap by any means, and you saw how little he invested in the defense back then. Pretty sure his theory of it being cheaper was wrong. It costs money to have a good player.

I really hope Ballard invests heavily in the dline this off season. I want him to unleash some cap space on multiple guys as depth, and then use his second round picks on hopefully, above average players. Free up the LBers, and give QBs a short time span to throw it, and the CBs will look like all pros. They're good enough, just not good enough without a dominant dline.

I see no reason to draft WR early when it's never been so deep. There are going to be day 2 players that fall to day 3 because there are so many. Draft one in the 3rd, but I dont expect to see as many injuries next year as there was this year.

I'd also love to see Ballard sign another RG/RT. If he can do those 3 things, it would help this team significantly.

Obviously using your first round pick on a QB. If there was a year for Ballard to do FA fun it's this one. The Colts are closer than people think. They're just missing a couple vital players.

I guess that's why Ballard likes Jordan Love...he just got busted for weed possession.

Maybe Ballard is a toker himself.

At least weed can be argued to have medicinal purposes. I could care less about it when half the US is legal in some form who really gives a %?

Haven’t heard any reports of him working out and keeping in football shape. Would have expected that if he had thoughts of potentially coming back.

I mean to be fair the only reports about him right now is his kid was born. Other than that it's been pretty quiet.

Although I do think it would be funny if he comes back and Ebron doesn't resign. That would be how it goes. Lol

  6. I believe by this point, the Colts know JB isnt the long term answer. Just look at the sideline photo of JB missing a completely wide open Pascal, and you will begin to see what that same sideline sees.

Ballard is going to Draft a QB if at all possible in the next draft. I could see him trading up for a guy if that's what it takes. That QB is going to backup JB next year.

That leaves you with Brian Hoyer who no one has confidence in and is basically an experienced warm body that can be thrown to the wolves (I see him being cut through training camp at some point)

And then theres Chad Kelly. The guy everyone seems to want to see. The plan for him? Hes going to sit behind the draft pick, be a good team mate, and keep quiet.

In 2021, JB is going to walk, in his absence, we will see what our young franchise QB can do and hes going to get backed up by Chad Kelly. This is one of the reasons Chad has remained on the active roster. Because he may just be good enough to be a good/great back up down the road, and we are going to need that.

This another reason why that the people they say JB sucks after only 1 year in Reich's system get on my nerves. Carson Wentz has looked like absolute garbage tonight and those same people probably think he is a franchise QB. Wentz has actually been average all year to put it politely. Dak also looked like garbage on Thanksgiving and at Chicago. There are really only a handful of franchise QB's in this league, we had one and he retired. I think some expect JB to be Luck, it isn't happening. I doubt drafting a QB will make much of a difference either without weapons to throw too. Unless we strike lightning and the guy is Mahomes. That is highly doubtful. You basically have Mahomes, Jackson, Wilson, Rodgers and everyone else. Brady and Brees are on their way out = old. Watson is good but isn't great.

If Wentz doesn't win this game at home vs the 2-10 Giants that will be embarrassing.

Kevin Bowen has said that Cain has made several important catches in his time with the Steelers. His co-host in the podcast is a steelers fan. The WRs are open.  A more skilled passer would do a lot for this team. So you dont need a franchise level QB for the WRs we have had to be more successful than they have been all year. You just need someone better than JB. JB is starter next year so it doesn't matter. If nothing changes by then, hes gone. I expect ballard to draft a QB in this years draft to sit.

As for Mahomes, I dont think he is a franchise QB as of yet. You have to prove you can be that guy year after year like Rodgers has and Wilson. The same can be said of Jackson. They have the potential to be, but how many people are calling Cam Newton a franchise QB right now?

  8. I have watched numerous Patriots games throughout the years. I havent seen them play vs every opponent in the NFL, but the teams I did see them play against, you could see the refs bail them out on a handful of plays per game that I watched, most important calls, go their way.  So when they dont get a call every handful of years, I rejoice.

I know I know. I'm just biased against them and have a passion of hate. I mean it's not that they're cheaters or anything like that!! Haha!!

Ballard's reluctance to buy star players leads me to believe that he feels he is capable of drafting star players. In his third season, I would say Ballard has drafted only 2 star players, Nelson and Leonard, which is not close to being good enough.

Ok. So how many stars should he have drafted in 3 drafts? Stars dont grow on trees. This past draft, we wont know until next year or possibly even the one after that.

Did you know Reggie Wayne was the king of drops his first season? I wonder how many thought he would become a star.

the jury is still out on his latest draft, therefore, you are asking for more than 2 stars out of 2 drafts. Nearly every star that Polian acquired was also from the draft, and they didnt become stars immediately. In fact, they needed supporting players in order to be the stars that they were.

Ballard is drafting a culture right now.  Without which, a star player may be a cancer If you havent already established said locker room. I think you have room to complain if he remains inactive in FA the next 2 years. As for now, it is a bit premature.

Also, dont forget, polian was already a HOFer before he became the Colts GM. Ballard is a brand new GM, who should be given time to learn from his mistakes.

Thanks SM. That's about 31%, and honestly I don't recall that many lol... Indy is one of the 5 least blitzing teams in the NFL. And even when they do blitz, it's not very creative or in numbers. We've averaged in the low 20s% IIRC for the year, while Baltimore almost blitzes 50% of downs, and teams like NE, Buf, Pitt, are averaging 30+%.

Do you recall in general who they sent (on the blitz), and did they switch the front DBs to more man when they blitzed?

Please let me know the 3rd down stats, and anything else you can glean.

I cant figure out what the defense was more creative last year.

This is my beef with Ballard. He's created a narrative, amongst Colts fans, that he is an expert at the draft. Narrative that we can trust him to nail the draft every year. This isn't true. Draft picks are 50/50, and Ballard has not shown us he is capable of exceeding this percentage. For every Darius Leonard, there will be Quincy Wilson.

Ballard hasn't created a narrative that hes a draft expert. He has even stated more than ones, you're going to miss on picks, therefore he likes collecting more darts (picks) for the board. You act like you arent happy unless he actually meets this narrative that you claim he has created, and does in fact hit every pick.

As far as talent is concerned, on offense, we have a good O-line, led by Q. Nelson, AC, Kelly and B. Smith. Doyle at TE is good, and that's about it really on offense.

T.Y. has had a below average year for a starting WR. I think his star is fading (back-to-back years of missing games due to injury). Our RB corps. with Mack is good when he's healthy, which is the problem.

On defense, we have D. Leonard. Done with that side of the ball.

We are far from being a talented team.

Here's a talented team: - Manning, E. James, Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark, Marcus Pollard, Ryan Diem, Tarik Glenn, Jeff Saturday, Jake Scott, R. Lilja.

Defense: Dwight Freeney, Robert Mathis, Gary Brackett, Antoine Bethea, Bob Sanders.

The only thing I hated about Luck retiring was the timing of it. The team would've been much better off had he retired after the Chiefs playoff game and not 2 weeks before the season. That would've gave Ballard a chance to draft a QB coming into this season or even get one in Free Agency. The team as a whole would've also known back in March that JB was the man with a rookie coming in.

Completely agree. If you cant handle it that's fine. In the end I'm glad we are moving on. I dont want someone who cant understand their own feelings leading this team.

Don't forget he wasn't 100% healthy in camp.  To me it looked like he was trying to get through it but nothing improved and the season was quickly approaching.  Then he made the decision he wasn't going to enter the season injured again and risk further injury.  So he decided to retire.  I don't see him as a quitter at all.

It was obviously a collection of things. I have moved on, but if he comes back he has proven unreliable so why keep him when you can attain some pretty significant draft capital? Hes not the first mega talented player that fizzled out of the NFL.

Did this happen often enough in the Colts game vs the Titans? I haven't watched the All 22, so if anyone can give their thoughts, it would be appreciated.

Lol Nelson gets run over once and the opposing teams fans lose their minds! HOFer!! Woohoo!!...

Where’s the line between quitting on a team and taking care of your own health?

I’m as disappointed as anyone that Luck retired.   But I never once thought if him as a guy who quit on his team.  I think of him as a man who was suffering and couldn’t put up with the NFL-life anymore.   The timing couldn’t be helped.   Sucks for us.   But I don’t see Luck as a quitter.

Every player deals with some sort of strain, pull, bruises, sores, and that's not including significant injuries like breaks or tears. I'm sure he realized he didnt love the sport as much as he hated the pain it brought him. Still wish he would have seen the stars aligning and realized he couldn't do it before the very last minute.

Im just not convinced that this was spur of the moment. I think hes been having doubts for the last 2-3 years. I think he did in fact want to retire after he hurt his shoulder. He even as much as admitted he thought he might not play again, and that could simply mean he had lost motivation to want it. Not that he couldn't do it. Just that he didnt want to hence irsay comment (in between the ears).

The Colts convinced Andrew to return for the 2018 season. Play it out. He always loved playing. But then after that season he was right back to where he was. I mean your beat up at the end of the season. You just lost in the playoffs to KC.

My problem is the timing of it. As an adult myself, I have learned to listen to my true wants and desires. What is worth it to me, and what isnt, so the fact that he waited so long to retire just gets under my skin. You just dont wait until the last moment to "realize" you dont love the game anymore. That's not something you realize spur of the moment like he did. Hes known deep down for a long time, and him living in denial of that, sucker punched the Colts and its fans when he decided to quit on the team 2 weeks before the season started.

If it were me, I would have played 2019 out seeing as how I waited so long to make that realization. I'm not going to screw over my teammates and overall the orginization because I took so long to stop living in denial.

Do I have a problem with him retiring? No. I have a problem with him living in denial and then quitting at the last second. I find that disrespectful. He could have easily said, I'm retiring after this year because of my past of injuries and it has made me realize that my love for the game isnt enough for the daily grind of the NFL.

At the end of this year, Andrew could have rode off into the sunset a much Beloved Colt, and no one would have any issues with him being in the ring of honor, or any of the like. He could have left on a very high note regardless of his premature retirement.

The timing could be helped. He decided it couldn't. No one else. If he does indeed come back next hear, I would send his * to a QB needy team for 2 first round picks and never look back.

Love your first 2 picks in Kinlaw and Love.

I would change the Gladney pick to WR Tyler Johnson to give Love a potential #1 WR for the long haul.

I'm not sold on those other 2 WRs you listed as #1 or #2 options in our passing game. Ballard needs to come out of this draft with at least a #2 WR. Can't simply count on Campbell being that guy.

Just imagine a legit number 2 and the cambel in the slot like he was in college. Youd hope this offense becomes explosive. I like Love too because we dont need him to be superman.

This guy has 3 QBs going before the Colts. Then proceeds to say there wont be any QB prospects by the time the Colts pick. If the draft falls like this, Ballard WILL draft Jordan Love. And I'm okay with that. I'm more than okay with that. Even it Love turns out to be the biggest bust since ryan leaf. I'm still okay with that pick, in our current situation. Not that I think he will be a bust.

Heres to hoping Love enters the draft this year.
