He starts the dialog with how wrong he has been in the past........

So NOW.... he wants to take shots

He seems to think that what everyone likes about this QB is his stats

When I see him play, I see quick release, strong arm, good mobility, and good touch

I have no idea if this kid will be great in the NFL...........  there are a few questions

But dang... if we havent picked a QB before the 3rd round..... you would have to consider him

    2 cents......

Im always down for something like this to be wrong.

    I am a natural optimist

IF he starts the season, I hope he is much better as well.

I havent observed the basic skillset with JB, nor the expected development, to this point, that would make that happen, but my HOPE is there....

It will all play out one way or another

I see JB improving in small ways, we just have no idea what his ceiling truly is and how fast he can improve. He could become elite, the question is will it take another 6 years. He has shown improvement since his days in NE. It just might be taking too long.

  3. Colts wouldnt trade their 1 first overall picks to anyone for anything, and the result was Peyton Manning and Andrew Luck. The Bengals will absolutely not trade the number one overall pick for 3 of our first especially considering having a top notch QB would make us contenders meaning those 3 first rounds would be at the top of the round and not the bottom.

The Bengals need a franchise QB. They're not giving up that pick for anything beyond the entire starting Colts team.

Everything is on the head coach.  There is nothing that goes on in a football locker room that isn't the head coach's responsibility.  That includes player health and safety.

I know Reich is all about 1-0 but letting players play through little injuries is part of how they get big injuries.  And not even making an effort to be informed about a player's ongoing health is gross negligence of a kind I thought we had got past in this league.

BTW yeah I haven't been around.  Partly because I can't stand the negativity on the forum when the team suffers setbacks, but 99% of the reason is that my mother has been in and out of the hospital since Thanksgiving.

Sorry to hear about your mother. My father has been having similar issues.

But on to your other points, I for one, dont believe that Ebrons injuries were as they seem. I see a lot of ego in Eric and his whole attitude noticeably changed once Andrew retired. He played differently, he tried less, and it was visible in his performance.

Doing what eric did, was a business decision, not a health decision, and that's perfectly fine. The ankles were a surprise to literally everyone, and is a good excuse for outside lookers as to why he played so crappy all year beyond having JB at QB.

Being a HC, you dont have to do every single thing when it comes to the team, that's why you have position coaches, that's why you have strength and conditioning coaches (who's job description probably includes asking about soreness or injuries) and also why you have medical staff.

Not everything falls on Reich. He can only do so much when it comes to every single aspect to this team. Just something to keep it mind.

You may be right.   Another poster told me Frank gave the players the day off.

I guess I must be showing my age.   I must be too old school.  Once upon a time, Xmas during the week meant nothing.   Players practiced just the same, just as hard.   It was brutal.

Perhaos those things are changing for the better?   I sure hope so.....

    Thanks.....

I mean they could very well still practice, but everywhere I have worked through the years gives you at the very least christmas off. Maybe they had to do walk throughs and some warm ups. I could be way off.

Go to Spotrac.com.   About a dozen or so are making millions.   The rest are not.

And besides....  it misses the point.  No one is complaining about practice on a holiday...   not the players, or their families...   or me.

I was complaining about the fan base criticizing the players on a day like today.   Can’t we even take a break for a day?   Hit the pause button for a day?

We can go back to business as usual tomorrow....    really, that’s all I was trying to say....

I doubt these guys are practicing on christmas day let alone for 8 hours.

I wouldnt call having to get a new QB Jersey In the near future trash talk either.

    To each their own.

  7. I have never bought into any of our RBs being great. You dont need great RBs to have a good run game with this oline. But you noticed the line regressed (that might happen when teams stack the box every down) and the running game took a major hit so far. You can see how good JB is based off of what other teams do. They don't respect the pass because hes just not good enough.

If they dont draft a QB at all this next draft they better draft an all around elite RB if there even Is one, and then double down on the oline, WR, and TE. Let Mack be the second RB and hines can drop to 3rd where his skill set is more suited.

Yeah, I don’t see that happening at ALL.  By all reports, Irsay stays out of the drafting decisions. That’s been one thing former personnel managers and GMs have stated repeatedly. He will be in the know, but he won’t be putting demands or making decisions

Irsay is not Involved in 95% of all decisions. But when it comes to the QB irsay doesn't mess around and will put his foot down.

I would say he approves the HC, and says when to go after a QB.

I rarely watch pre-game stuff anymore either. I do for about 10 minutes before the Colts come on but back in the day I used to watch for like an hour.

Peyton Mannings retirement marked the end of anything good in the NFL.

It obviously all started before that, but once he left, he took any time of old football with him.

Now days, the players are all prima donnas, the league now has an over inflated ego, and the media shows are just sports debates now. Who is the better team who is the better players these are our picks. That's about it.

    Theres nothing to see here.

The NFL cares more about money than right & wrong. If the NFL really cared about these issues they would stop the entire investigation where it's shown Brady destroyed his phone and simply rule against the Patriots right then & there

Idk if any of you guys have seen 8 men out, but it makes you wonder how the NFL would handle the Patriots after something like that. Would they do anything at all?

Those guys got banned from baseball. The patriots would get fined.

I agree that his perfect spot would be WR3 or 4. If you have him at 4 then the WR core is looking good. I like him as a player and glad he is a Colt, but I wouldn't say quality.

Consistency is of high quality in the NFL. Pascal has been consistent and that Is imo, quality. Just because you arent blowing up the field doesn't mean you're of no quality. How many players can be consistent in the NFL that have more skill than the likes of pascal?

please not this draft with this crop of qbs

Hey you could be completely right I dont have an issue with drafting the right guy this year. I just k how if it doesn't happen this year next year is unlikely to produce a starting level QB for this Colts team, unless they're picking top 5. Is there anyone besides Lawrence that you know of?

  13. 4 hours ago, chrisbeldridge said:

No need to.  We don’t need a top 5 pick to get a quality QB.  Look at where the top quarterbacks in the NFL were drafted.  Lamar Jackson (32nd), Brees (round 2, pick 32), Brady (round 6, pick  199), Rodgers (24th), Russell Wilson (round 3, pick 75), Mahomes at 10th and Watson at 12th are the highest of the top tier qbs.  No need to trade up.  I know Manning and Luck were #1 picks, but we can get a good one where we are.

My main worry would be the colts picking at around 15, you could easily see Burrow, Herbert, Tua, and Love going before 15 to teams on the board before the Colts who need QB. Can you see anyone else worthy of starting after those 4?

I suspect the Colts will be picking in the 15-20 range, so I don’t see any team giving up a potential top 5 pick in 2021 for where the Colts will be drafting.

The Colts best opportunity to land T. Lawrence in 2021 is to tank or trade up.

JB is going to be the QB in 2020, we need to except it and hope for the best.

It obviously wouldnt be only your first round pick. My thought process would be spreading out the damage of losing all your picks in one draft for a top 5 draft pick.

  15. Could anyone here see Ballard sacrificing some picks this season, and taking a risk by trading away a couple picks for a team he suspects to have a bad record going into next season, in order to get an early first pick next year giving him the ability to either draft high or traded the 2 first round picks to move up and select that QB ...? Trevor Lawrence?

Especially if that guy isnt there this coming draft. Which team do you suspect to have a bad record next season?
