People were asking questions about rumors on this website.   I was only talking about this website, nothing more.

So now you are wrong because you didn't start a rumor?

Or are you wrong because you did start a rumor but only on this website?

    I am so confused!

    Just messing with you.

Also I read above here that this is blowing up on Facebook.   Big mistake counting on FB for facts.

An animal needs to be moved, but the operation is cost prohibitive. Someone steps in to foot the bill, now the operation can proceed.

    What's the problem here???

Please don't tell me people are saying Irsay is fine spending $20m to move an orca, but won't pay Jonathan Taylor. Please tell me people are smarter than that...

Don't under estimate the stupidity of some people.  As a friend of mine says, "stupid finds a way."

  3. As a friend of mine was told when he worked in the White House, "Life is full of difficult compromises."

Overpaying any player has risks.  And running backs typically have a short life at a high level.

Letting a very productive player and a team leader walk to save a few million bucks could really hurt also.

I really like JT and would love to see him stay a Colt.  I do think having him behind AR would be good for both of them.  And I would hope that Steichen would know how to get the best out of that combo. But I don't think we should think about setting the RB market will an over the top contract.   And if JT is "Holding In" I am fine with that at this point.  You can't blame these guys for trying to get paid since the know they have a short shelf life in the NFL.

For this to benefit the Colts - which in the end is what I want - I think both sides will need to make difficult compromises.

    Props to.Tennessee.

What a concept they have. When your weak at a position and a very good player at that said position becomes a FA, you open your wallet and go after him. haha

Yes!  And the weakness is due to trading away AJ Brown.  Props to Tennessee!

This is off topic, but where was your favorite place in Ireland? I'm going next summer for my honeymoon but know idea which part.

Bunratty castle near Limerick is fun.  Touristy but interesting.  Still on that west side.  Going up and down the stone spiral staircases and imagining what life was like is amazing.

That doesn't help when you have OTAs and mini camp and have no veteran leadership on the field at the position. Only other vet is McKenzie, more of a slot guy. Perriman can help on the outside.

Can't do anything but help in the immediate future, as most WRs(healthy) on the roster are camp bodies, need a guy to show them how to work and knows what he is doing, so he can help the QBs reps too.

QBs throwing reps to guys who might be running bad/incorrect routes doesn't help the QB very much.

right - as a camp body I said OK.  But I don't see any other reason for picking him up.

What’s not to understand? Downs and Pittman are injured leaving only Pierce as the only healthy starting WR. He’s insurance in case those two aren’t healthy for whatever reason to start the season.

Like I said, in my opinion I would rather let our younger guys get the reps - for good or bad.  I don't think this guy is a difference maker.  Plus the season is a full summer away.

  8. Not sure I understand the reasoning for this:

    1. If he is a camp body - OK
    2. If the goal is to really have him as a contributor this year I would rather have the young guys we are trying to develop get the reps

He is 29 years old so not really a long term answer for anything.  He probably isn't improving much at this point in his career.  Not the best hands so I don't see why Richardson would need a guy like that to help him.  I get the idea of improving all areas of the roster, including the bottom, but like I said I would rather have our young guys get the game experience to see if they will improve even if it means some ugliness.

Sure, all true.  But my theme was that a lot of us here (and especially the national media) had expectations of winning the division last season.  We all know the reasons it went south.  We all could have said similar things that you pointed out - Oline uncertainty, QB arm/age, etc., but most were confident.

Oline improved, QB room improved, play calling possibilities, etc..  Yet people now think 6 wins would be a successful season.

We were so optimistic last year, why are the expectations so low this season?  It’s mostly the same  team, with improvements.

Personally I think the biggest unknown is QB play.  We thought with Ryan, who has a history of being a pretty good NFL QB, might have a couple of good years left.  That turned out to be wrong.

If we start Richardson there are going to be growing pains.  He has a lot to learn.  And if we start Minshew, well, we will get Minshew. He hasn't shown me he has what it takes to lead this team to the playoffs.

So with so much of a team's success depending on high level QB play I am not expecting a playoff appearance.  But I would be thrilled if it happened.

Back in 1990....33 years ago, Tom Osborne knew that his QBs were not good enough for the NFL passing game, so he went to a run based offense.   Its not a better offense.  Its an offense you run when the QB is less talented than a normal NFL QB.

The article is propaganda...calling it evolution when its regression.

It going back to a quirky offense some colleges ran 30 years ago.......Change that's needed to accommodate the diminishing supply of talented QBs coming out of college.

    Thanks for your opinion Doug.

But the point is for AR to develop into a dual threat QB.  If all he was ever going to be is a runner then we can all agree this isn't what we want.  He has shown that he has a very strong arm.  Has some skills reading defenses, and even last year you can see when he starts to move around in the pocket he is still looking downfield to complete a pass.

And if he can pick up some drive saving 1st downs or even touchdowns with his legs then I am all in on that!

Many people thought the west coast offense was a fad, until it wasn't.

So, we will see if the experiment works out.  If he really becomes a dual threat QB at the NFL level then I wouldn't say there is anything quirky about that.

  11. My opinion hasn't changed just based on the draft.  Overall my opinion is based on team performance.  I was a pretty strong supporter of Ballard until last year.  I would say at this point I am neutral.  Obviously the big miss over the last few years was the QB position.  The retreads were a failed experiment.  I understand he isn't 100% responsible for those decisions, but that is how it works when you are the guy at the top.

Other than the QB position I would say Ballard has built a good - but not great - roster.  There have been some really good decisions and some bad decisions.  That's going to be true of any GM.

For me in the end it comes down to Wins and Losses.  This year won't matter that much as we need to give the new HC and QB time.  But after year three if this team isn't at least competing for the AFC South then it would seem Ballard has had his opportunity and it would be time to try something different.
