Rumor that the colts, Jags and Browns are the 3 teams showing the most interest in Zeitler.

    http://nfltraderumors.co/market-g-kevin-zeitler-consists-primarily-colts-jaguars-browns/

If the Jags and Titans are really closing on all the guys that have been rumored, Zeitler almost becomes a must get for Indy. Add in the fact that there's a possibility Mewhort's knee issues could become chronic, and we can't afford to not take another big step forward on the OL.

If foster was a top 5 pick. How is taking Reddick at 15 a reach?

I don't think he is anymore. Some fans still may not have convinced themselves to pull the trigger at 15, but most outlets have him as a consensus top 15-20 prospect now.

NFL.com moved his grade to a 6.25 which places him at #19 overall.

I'd be pretty happy with this pick. He would step in to the WILL spot right away and be perfect for some of the exotic blitz packages Monachino tried to utilize this past season.

    Lol u guys are rediculous.

C Macs only weakness is he's doesnt run people over or break tackles.

Would this not tend to support the idea that he could be a better slot WR than RB?

McCaffrey could be an elite slot receiver. He could also be a pretty good RB with 10-12 carries and 4-6 catches per game. But, his frame won't hold up long-term in a Le'Veon Bell type role.

  4. It seems most of the negatives you mentioned are in reference to our current personnel. If he's a guy that represents your ideal WILL and is a good value at any pick, you have to look past what we have on the team. There are so many holes on this defense that there are no prospects that will succeed by themselves (regardless if they're CB, MIKE, WILL, Edge, DE, etc).

Find a guy that represents the ideal skillset for a given position and fill the spots around him until they start complementing each other.

He's gunna be special I'm telling you all lol

I could live with McCaffrey as a 3rd down back and slot guy in different formations. I'd also line him up in the backfield on zone runs with 3 or 4 guys split wide.

I'm just afraid our staff would try to run him between the tackles with loaded boxes and that would be a complete waste of talent.

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but the Browns are "strongly considering" Trubisky 1st overall.

This would be a horrible mistake.

Or in other words, just another day in Cleveland.

Bolles didn't bench press because of a minor pectoral strain. Will bench press at pro day. Cam Robinson didn't bench press because of previous shoulder injury. According to @draftCampbell , despite off-the-field concerns Cam Robinson interviewed well with teams. Seems like the star of the day was Bolles. Series of journalists rave about his media interview. I wish I could find it. I hope it's posted at some point on the NFL site.

The best bench press from today was Isaac Asiata, guard from Utah with 35 reps. No notable outliers from the top prospects. Dorian Johnson was on the low end at 21 and Julie'n Davenport was at 18.

Semaje Perine was the best from the running backs at 30 reps. Most were in the mid-high teens. Some numbers for the most notable players:

    Christian McCaffrey - 10

    Dalvin Cook - 22

    Donta Foreman - 18

Leonard Fournette and Jamaal Williams - didn't do bench press, said they will do it at pro day

    Wayne Gallman - 21

    Brian Hill -15

    Elijah Hood - 18

    Kareem Hunt - 18

    Alvin Kamara - 15

    Marlon Mack - 15

    Semaje Perine - 30

DJ Pumphrey - 5 (that's the small dude from San Diego St.)

Donta Foreman and Elijah Hood at 18 may be more surprising to me than McCaffrey at 10. Not that bench is all that important, but I figured those two would put up more reps than that easily.

    Do the reasearch.

I'm not addressing every point in that watered down rambling. You're free to move the field goal posts all you want. You claimed players every year come from obscurity and go in the first after the combine and ended up supporting that claim by spouting a bunch of nonsense about Mike Mayock, some unnamed Arkansas QB, Dontari Poe, and that there are 6th rounders that are hall of famers (which may be true but is also completely irrelevant).

The bottom line is, "obscure" prospects (ie guys that are unknown, off anyone's radar) NEVER just shoot up to the first after the combine. It doesn't happen.

I'm not claiming that the combine does not influence draft position. Guys jump or drop 1-2 rounds all the time. Guys don't jump/drop 5-6 rounds at this stage in the process unless something huge happens like injuries/crime. That was my only point. All this other crap that got pulled into the conversation is just noise.

Everybody all Davis ever drafted. Now there.

U telling me nobody has ever shot to the first based on combine help.

Dontarie Pie was one. I don't think he was considered a first till after the combine. Then people took a look at his tape and said OHHHH.

You gotta remember. Each team has like 20 dudes looking at HUNDREDS of players.

Certain things are going to be glossed over.

Plenty of players have been pushed up into the first after a combine that may have started with 2nd-3rd round grades. You said you have seen guys "shoot straight from obscurity into the first." I think that is embellishing at best.

I'm not digging through Al Davis picks but I seriously doubt every single person he ever drafted in the first was not on a board to start the combine.

Wrong on Dontari Poe. It's not even hard to disprove. Athlon Sports, USA Today, SB Nation all had him #24-26 in their pre-combine mocks.

    26th here.

    24th here

    24th here

    24th here...again

He moved up to 11th by draft time. Late first to mid-first isn't coming from obscurity.

Your last two points are just wrong. You keep making stuff up like it's fact and it's not close. Those 20 "dudes" do this full-time. There are always misses, but players don't come out of nowhere at this point in the game and go in the first.

I dont believe that, but vuz I've seen some weird stuff in the past.

Remember when the jaguars took that QB from Arkansas that ran a 4.37 somehow and took him in the first at WR.

I mean hell, remember when we took green in the second last year Lol.

That 40 time does something to GMs. I think every teams needs to have board discipline.

Its kinda like how you plan to win a fight, but it goes out the window as soon as u get hit.

I believe the same thing happens when your favorite player slides off the board. And everybody starts to panivk and calling people Lol. But Iono.

I have seen some guys shoot straight from obscurity to the top half of the 1st.

As @Defjamz26 pointed out above:  "When you hear that a guy has shot up draft boards, it's really just the media and casual fans catching up. Really the scouts and GMs are already high on those guys".

To your last point, let's hear some of those examples.

  11. 20 minutes ago, Freeupfreeney said:

Oh and btw, people saying the "real" scouts say this and that. Its almost guaranteed all there boards are going to look completely different 1 month from now.

Some guys fall from top 10 to completely of the draft board and not even get drafted.

Ryan leaf was really high on most 'EXPERTS" boards all the way till draft day. So if you can't pick a spot on the videos linked to prove me wrong, that's a weak argument.

This really couldn't be more wrong. Scouts have been on these guys full-time for the past 12 months+. Their boards should be nearly locked in with minor adjustments after the combine. The only major movement at this point will come from medical evaluations or some unforeseen event (i.e. Laremy Tunsil).

We can offer more than money. We can be a 10-6 team or better with the right additions this coming season. We have 12. We just need some defensive playmakers and our guys to stop being so soft and getting hurt all the time.

This will be my last post on this because I'm talking in circles and it doesn't seem to be sinking in.

Having money and a QB doesn't mean you get to sign every player you want. You know who has MORE money and a BETTER QB? The Patriots. And they just won the SB. By your metrics, everyone should just sign with them.

That's not how the NFL works.

The Colts will not be signing 4-5 stud defenders that will push them over the top. The goal should be to find 1-2 impact guys, then build the rest through the draft. Use the rest of your cap on extensions and finding depth on both sides of the ball. It wouldn't be the worst thing to roll some of that money forward as well. There's no requirement to blow all $60 million of our cap room.
