I have been talking about Adams from time we drafted him (yes I'm tooting my own horn a bit).  He is still a bit slow to recognize the paly sometimes (I believe this will get better with experience) but once he zeros in... he gets to where he wants to go in a hurry and he takes good angles to the ball carrier.  I can see in 2019 Adams not only playing SAM in the base D but also playing the role of the 3rd safety (Geather's role) in the nickle and dime packages.

But you were still defending Trent Richardson long after he was done, so there’s that

    Here are my 2 cents:

    - If it's indeed Ballard who'll make the decision, the new HC won't necessarily come from KC. He's already put his own (scouting, etc) staff together, I didn't notice any focus on Kansas. (I think he likes what Seattle is doing though. He has hired one of his main scout from there, and a good number of ex-hawks players already.)

    - I doubt that Irsay will ever agree on hiring a "celebrity" coach like Harbaugh, Gruden, etc. If there will be a big name acquisition in the foreseable future, it will be Manning, and not for the HC job. But even that wont happen any time soon.

    - I won't ever name a favourite HC candidate of my own. I know nothing, I can't judge them. I just hope, Irsay & Ballard knows their job.

    - I won't ever take anyone's HC candidate seriously, until it actually happens. Same reason: according to my experience, fans can more or less judge players, but we absolutely can't judge coaches. :) We just can't. We suck at it. Even if we played the game or are/were coaches at some lower level ourselves.

    - I am still not convinced 100% that Pagano will go after the season. I know I am in the small minority here with this opinion, but after 2015 and 2016, I won't believe anything until it happens. It's crystal-balling.

Ok, so why is this? Why do I feel about the subject like this? Because I'm not convinced.

Let me tell you guys something. This is not a judgement, not even an opinion, only a gut feeling. My gut feeling is, that more NFL coaches possess enough knowledge and ability to win it all than we think. This includes me. I am sure I wrote down some coaches myself, who are actually just as good as others, but at the top of the football circus, you sometimes need the circumstances go in your way to be successfull, and you rarely get enough time - or second chance - to prove yourself, it things don't go right immediatelly.

Was it really Harbaugh, who made a superbowl team out of the Niners, or was it the boatload of talents they managed to draft within a short 3-4 years period? If it's the former, who was responsible for those excellent drafts? Was it really Harbaugh? If it was really him, why did his team bite the dust suddenly, when that mass production of talents stopped coming? Was it really Pete Carroll, or was it their marvelous run in drafts between 2010-2013? I'm not convinced. If it was Carroll, why did he wait for 30+ years? If it is really Jon Harbaugh, what about the Ravens in the last 2-3 years? If it's really Mike Tomlin, what about the Steelers since 2011? If it's really Sean Payton, then what about the Saints since 2010?

Don't get me wrong, I do believe that certain coaches are good, and certain coaches aren't. For example I believe Dungy was an excellent coach, a deserved hall of famer. But why did he was so good in Indy, and why he wasn't as good elsewhere? If he was so good, why was he fired not once, but multiple times before? And what if, one of his previous teams didn't fire him, and he stays there instead of coming to Indy? Would've he been there as good as he was in Indy?

There is no perfect coach, every one of them commit mistakes. Shanahan made his in february. A big one. And now he is a HC, and he did make mistakes against the Colts on sunday. And he is still a "good coach". But if he won't turn the Niners over in 2-3 years, I can assure you guys, he will be bad. And when/if that time comes, then it won't matter what he does. If he calls a timeout that is a mistake, if he doesn't, then that is a mistake. :)

Who do I believe then? What do I want? The majority of this forum is convinced that Pagano is a bad coach. He sucks. Many think his OC, DC suck as well. Okay. Then what about our defensive line this year? Indy didn't have a decent defensive line for ages. And now, finally there's some talent there, and voila, the run defense suddenly works? Why? If our staff sucks, then it doesn't suppose to work, just because a guy named Hankins arrived, does it? Or, maybe our coaches aren't that bad? What's the truth? Why is the secondary bad then? Is that really because our coaching staff can't teach them, can't call a damn game correctly, or is it because there is just less talent there than in our defensive line?

You get my point. I will just wait and see how things will turn out.

Dungy was only fired once as a head coach and even though he was let go in Tampa he was very successful there, he only had two head coach positions (Tampa and the Colts) so that part of your post makes no sense at all.

That response is so ridiculous I won't respond, except to point out that most teams in the NFL have crappy quarterbacks.  If the Patriots had truly discovered some system that made it easy on crap QBs, it would be emulated. The NFL is a copycat league.

Your ridiculous and out of your mind if you don't think Brissett (or any other QB for that matter) wouldn't look better playing for that coach in that system with that team, than they would playing for Pagano in the Colts system with the Colts team. Cassel never started a game in college, but when Brady got hurt he throw for over 400 yes in two games and went to the pro bowl, got a big contract and never could hold down a starting job again In his career and he is just one of the backups that has looked all world with that coach team and system, yeah and after five super bowl wins, I would say this coach and system is on to something.

That's my question too. Brissett had a great 4th preseason game but I think all in all he and Morris are pretty much on the same level. And they're really close in age so I don't think one has too much higher of a ceiling than the other.

Both also seem to struggle in the same areas, accuracy issues from what I've read.

    I'll take Morris

I disagree.  The Pats have a complex offense, one that many veteran wide receivers can't learn.  You really think our offense is more complex than the Patriots' offense?  If you do, I disagree with that too.

This is a necessary trade.  Have faith in Ballard.

It's not about how difficult it easy to learn the system, it's about how incredibly easy the throws and plays are to make in the NE system (very short, high completion percentage passes) rarely ever asked to make a difficult pass or play, for that matter. Playing Quarterback for the Pats is a lot like auto pilot all the pressure is taken off the QB, unlike the Colts where all the pressure (difficult throws and plays) are put squarely on the QB's shoulders, if you think 16 & 7 have sucked wait till you see this guy away from auto pilot.

It's hard to find much film to watch of him playing ILB since that's not the position he played...

Can you see into the future or something?

can you?  the move from OLB to ILB is not a big transition, its not like he is moving from offensive tackle, if you know anything about football you can see on film that this would be an easy transition, the move from OLB to ILB is as easy a transition as it gets in the NFL, especially for a player with a skill set like Reddick, we can agree to disagree, no need to see into the future.

I agree. I like Riddick but people on here were mad about a picking a project player in the second round last year. He is a total project player. Has great measurable (like green), but would have to learn the nuances of being a linebacker and gain the instincts which could take years.

Reddick is not a project player, he is a day one starter, you must have him mixed up with someone else, you are the only person I've ever heard or read, that has called him a project.

I like Reddick but this is a little bit over the top. Really only played ILB one game so it's hard to say he is better than Foster.

I stand by my statement, watch the tape, better football player than Foster, and I'm not dissing Foster, I think Foster is a hell of a player, but Reddick has a very unique skill set and on another level, I just hope the Colts draft him, he's a special player.

  9. Hasson Reddick, best cover LB as well as the best blitz LB in the draft hands down better than Foster, best ILB prospect since Luke Kuechly and a better athlete, he is a rare talent that can be moved outside on passing downs to rush the passer, high football IQ, understands the game and a physical freak. Started out as a CB worked his way up to being the best LB in the nation, doesn't get the press Foster gets or surrounded by the talent Foster had, but watch the tape he is a rare talent, should be top five player.

  10. Edwin Jackson should be starting, in the little playing time he got today he looked better than any one we have had playing ILB. he's quicker and better in coverage than Morrison or Mcnary and it's not close.
McGill should get more playing time and should always be in the game on obvious passing downs.
Ayers should get more snaps he always stands out when he gets playing time, like Edwin Jackson his speed and quickness makes him really stand out when compared to our old slow LB's
Swoope has been huge in place of Allen, not saying he should replace Allen, but has played well while Allen has been out and looks like he could help fill the void of what we lost in Fleener and showing why they may have been willing to let Fleener walk, the sad thing is if Allen had not gotten hurt we may have never seen what he could do.
I would like to see all four get more playing time, what do we have to lose?

  11. That's an option for you...I can only say what I saw...Great effort...My guys lost to an undefeated team on the road.

    I cant whine.

Very poor effort for three and a half quarters , I guess you could say good effort for half a quarters, this is not a great Panther team, they have barely beaten seven not very good teams, watch next week when they get beat down, playing their first opponent with a winning record. I just don't see anything to be proud of at all, unless this is bowling, where everyone gets a trophy. It's not whining to point out that this team sucked for three and a half quarters, it did, there are no participation awards in football.
  12. I am not a fan of firing coaches in the middle of the season but with some of the rumors going around about Pep being Grig's guy and Chud being Pagano's...I think it would be nice to see if this is what the issue is? If Pep is gone and Chud makes the offense click, it would show what the true problem is....hopefully?

    [/

I think if anything is done this is what it will be, I don't see how Chud could possibly be any worse than Pep, it could spark the team for the rest of this season, but for the long run I think Pagano and Pep will have to be replaced at the end of the season, and maybe Grigson too. we may have gone as far as we will ever go with the current regime.

  13. The coaching staff is killing this team, I don't think we were ever a Super Bowl contender, but we could be a lot better than we are showing, I believe Luck is hurt more than they are saying, because he is struggling to throw with zip, when he needs too, and that is causing him to look down his receivers. Luck is regressing in this current situation and that is what worries me, his confidence is at an all time low and he looks like a deer in the headlights. This team is unprepared and lacks discipline or leadership. This could get worse before it gets better with our schedule.

  14. Pagano and Pep put this team at a huge disadvantage before the game every starts. The (deer in the headlights) look of this team, is the lack of preparation and discipline of the head coach. The horrible play calling is the lack of knowledge of Pep.

Pagano gets out coached each and every week, this team deserves better. Pagano is a great guy, but he is killing this team. We need a coach that gives us an advantage, and a coach that can make adjustments and holds players accountable. I know that we have made the playoffs three years in a row, and all the other things that the Pagano apologist will bring up, but none of that has been because Pagano has out coached anyone, and if that's all you want for this team, then OK I get it, but This team has gone as far as it will ever go, with Pagano as the head coach. We will never win a Super Bowl with Pagano, if you can't see that now, you never will.

Pep is over his head, I just don't think he has enough experience as a OC, to help this team. He doesn't make the adjustments needed to help this team succeed, his play calling and lack of adjustments are horrible, and Pagano does nothing to reel him in, between the two of them this team is not put in the best position to succeed, yes the players have to make the plays, but the coaches have to put them in the best position to do so.

This team is lacking talent wise, in some areas, but they could do a lot better, with even decent coaching, but with Pagano and Pep, the are at a huge disadvantage and deserve better. Teams shouldn't have to win in spite of their coaches, they should be winning because of their coaches.

  15. I know it's not cool to defend Thornton and he can whiff on some blocks, especially in pass protection, the holding calls have got to stop, but when he pulls, he wipes his man out, physically he has everything you need and he can pull with the best of them, I hope they continue to let him play and hopefully he can improve in the weak areas, we don't really have any better options.
