  1. Not talking about the Freeney trade. Im saying that everytime I want to post a new thread it seems like somebody has already started the thread. And I keep forgetting we are going to implement a 3-4 defense. That's going to take some getting use to.

C'mon man no love for the Horns. Sure we don't have some ballers on the defensive side(eligible yet) and I would agree but the pieces we do have are solid.

And whenever he is eligible, I want to draft Malcolm Brown.

Nice to see another Longhorn fan

  2. With all the new Administraitve postions that we have filled with coaches and a new GM, it will be interesting to see what there "vision" is that we keep hearing about. Tomorrow kicks off the Combine of course but also what will the vision see through free-agency. I read an intersting little tid bit on NFL.com that the Pitt is worried about Mike Wallace signing with another team. He is a free agent and he does have ties with Bruce Arians. What are the odds of that being the first splash so to say? He is reguarded as one of the fastest players in the entire NFL, something the Colt's don't have a WR currently. Also any other players that you feel should be discussed with a legit shot at landing in Indy. GO COLTS!

I think the situation with Wallace is that he is going to get the franchise tag but the Steelers would be unable to match a giant long term contract that some other team can throw at him. Being tagged, that team would have to give up a first round pick to the Steelers, but if you're the Bengals or Pats who have 2 first round picks, you can live with that. So the Colts can't get him unless the want to give the Steelers the #1 overall pick for Wallace.

  3. Round 1: Andrew Luck - QB Stanford - Duh!

Round 2: Chandler Jones - DE/OLB Syracuse - I think we franchise Mathis, but even if we do our pass rushers are long in the tooth. Jones can play DE in a 4-3 and OLB in a 3/4. Is rocketing up the draft boards. Has great bloodlines. His brother Arthur plays for the Ravens and his brother Jon is the baddest man on the planet in the UFC. I would love to take Coby Fleener but some good D players will be hard to pass up here.

Round 3: Dwight Bentley - CB Louisiana Lafayette - Good cover corner who's stock is rising. Our secondary needs a desperate overhaul. I would be tempted to pick Kevin Zeitler here but I feel CB is more of a need.

Round 4: Billy Winn - DT/DE Boise State - Can play end in the 3/4 or DT in the 4/3. Great motor and strength, can be a starter at 3/4 DE right away.

Round 4 Comp: Nicholas Jean-Baptiste - NT Baylor- A true Nose tackle who shined at the East West Shrine game and was the only bright spot on a porous Baylor defense this year. One of the better pure NT's in the draft.

Round 5: Coryell Judie - CB Texas A&M - As a Longhorn fan it hurts me to put an Aggie on here. Judie has great speed and has been a good cover guy in his career. Had a down year this year due to injury.

Round 6: Jairus Wright - WR Arkansas - Undersized but quick as a hiccup. Gets overlooked because of Joe Adams, but he was the Razorbacks' leading receiver this year I believe.

Round 6 Comp: J.R Sweezy - DE/DT North Carolina State - Honestly, I know nothing about the guy other than he's a 3/4 DE prospect but I can't over how awesome his name is.

Round 7: Antoine McClain - G Clemson - Big Strong run blocker. I 'll admit I don't know much about later round OL prospects.

Not saying any of this will happen, I just wanted to throw some different names out there than what we've seen before. Obv I went a bit defensive focused.

  4. You just made what will be the arguement against RG3.... that and when they measure his height I suspect he will be a lot shorter than 6' 2"... and smaller than 220... Combine numbers are not exclusive to arm strength and 40 time.

I can see what you are saying. I personally do not think RG3 will be able to duplicate his success at the next level but I would say that he is a better prospect than the guys that I mentioned. Baylor isn't exactly Texas Tech in terms of the "plug and play" QB spread. They weren't exactly good until this year which can lead to the one year wonder factor. However, unlike those Tech teams he did beat the upper echelon Big 12 defenses like OU and Texas and has the athletic intangibles that are all the rage.

  5. ummm, RG3 plays in a spread O that plays in the same conf. as Texas Tech ......

    So what is the diff?

I didn't say anything about RG3 did I? This was in reference to Case Keenum. All the guys that played for Texas Tech under the Mike Leach system, names like Kliff Kingsbury, Graham Harrell, Sonny Cumbie, guys that threw for record breaking yardage in the Big 12 but are obviously not league material. They just plug QB's into that system and they get production. You could probably look back on these forums and somebody probably said, we should draft Colt Brennan or Graham Harrell because they threw for X amount of yards. There is a reason most guys from systems like that are 7th round picks and more often suited for the arena league.

  6. Luck is actually surprisingly mobile. He outran defenses a few times in college. Did someone say "Casey" Keenum is better than Luck, really???

Exactly, Case Keenum is Colt Brennan 2.0. A product of a pass happy spread system who pads stats against inferior competition. Very similar to all of the Texas Tech and Hawaii QB's who put up monster stats but don't necessarily translate to the league.

  7. i dont usually do mocks, but ill give it a try

round 1- andrew luck QB stanford

round 2- mark barron or poe hopefully one of them is still there

round 3- coby fleener TE stanford

round 4- tommy streeter wr miami

I would love this, but I think Barron, Poe and Fleener will all be off the board by the time the Colts pick at #34. I hope not though.

  8. I don't know if you heard about Martin from me but he is hands down my second favorite safety very good in run support

I first noticed him in their bowl game against Stanford and I was impressed. He was great in run support and all over the place early. Then in the second half that game got a little bonkers and I didn't notice him as much. I came away with a "I'd like the Colts to draft that guy" attitude.

  9. Because you don't know what is actually going on .No one does other than Manning and Irsay. A fan cheers for the logo on the helmet. The logo on the helmet is more powerful than the name on the back of the jersey. Players leave, tough decisions get made, but the team remains. They aren't going to demolish Lucas Oil Stadium next year if Manning retires. Still wanna denounce your fanhood? Cool, then let me have your seats and I will cheer on the team every Sunday.

  10. With a new defensive philosophy do you think Jerry Hughes can turn his NFL career around? I think he played in a 3-4 Defense at TCU so maybe the philosophy change is good for him...

I'm pretty sure he played Defensive end in a 4-3 his entire career at TCU. He just worked out as a 3-4 outside linebacker at the combine because that's what he projected to in the NFL. Hopefully he can, it is now or never for him. I just don't see the desire and hustle from him to become a solid pro.

  11. His pentalties are the result of his aggression, immaturity, and competitiveness, he is a young James Harrison. I love it! He is going to be a serious NFL LB! Under Ray Lewis it would happen sooner, but I want that talent in our LB group!

You would think that when stuff like that hit him in the wallet when he's in the league maybe he will settle down. You never know though.

  12. I am a big fan of this guy. In all the mocks i've seen the Ravens grab him as a successor to Lewis. The guy just plays nasty. He doesn't have any off the field concerns that I know of, just some stupid penalties and things. But hey, Ed Reed does dumb stuff all the time (laterals). I was actually going to post a mock in which we traded our #2, and #4 up to pick 28 in the first round (right before Baltimore) to grab him. He could play SAM in the 4-3 and inside in the 3-4. If Pagano wants "his Ray Lewis" Burfict could be the guy. I agree there are bigger needs, but I would be ecstatic to land him. He brings an attitude we havent had in a LB here.

  13. Since you are a Boiler-Backer, do you think he is OK as a DL coach? What matters is that he is a good teacher. Pagano is going to have his hands all over the defensive calls. Manusky is a great teacher, but not a great coordinator....I still think this is Pagano's D

Yes, I have no doubt that he will do a good job with the DL. He helped make a first round pick out of Ryan Kerrigan and has done well with Kawann Short. It seems like he follows after Teerlink in that he puts a premium on rushing the passer. I know this will be Pagano's D. I have just never been a supporter ofthe Danny Hope regime and staff at Purdue so this came as a kind of "meh" hire to me. He will probably do ao good job though as DL coach.

  14. I think we need to go defense. We don't need a C because we have Pollak and Richard. We have more holes on defense that we need to fill

I agree, Center isn't as big a need as gaurd unless a stud center is there. Pollak can fill in nicely at his natural position I believe. Like the Poe pick if he's there. I'll admit that I don't know anything about Tommy Streeter other than he's tall and supposedly fast.

  15. http://www.nfl.com/d..._content_stream

This is a mock without Barron going in the first. He would just need to make it past St. Louis with the 33rd pick.

That mock has Vontaze Burfict falling out of the first round too. I can't see him making it past the Ravens. Im sure Pagano would look long and hard at him as a 3-4 ILB if that's the case. Every year people fall and we on the message boards beg to draft them and Polian would always surprise us. Maybe Grigson will be different.
