  1. PEYTON MANNING HAD PLAYMAKERS on offense. Crud loads of them. Luck had TY and then Ebron for a year and no O-line and retired because of it. Seriously, this is NOWHERE near what Manning had or what Luck had. Sometimes I wonder if the people on here even watch football other than highlight reels What did the Bills do for Allen with the exception of the RB position? Went and got Diggs, Sanders, Beasley, Knox, and now OJ Howard and drafted Davis who I believe could be on par or better than Pittman if used more. If you can't see the difference, you have zero credibility All we have to do is get a franchise QB, you don't know what you are talking about
  2. Right now, everything else but the QB. It should really have been adding pieces around Wentz and seeing what transpired in 2022. To me it doesn't matter what QB you sign or trade for right now. With the exception of Mayfield, who I do believe can give you greater upside than the rest, they all can give you huge downside. This includes rookies. So, because of that, you go get the pieces needed other than QB. Ngakoue was a piece and one I'm totally on board with. Now go get more. Get a TE. Don't try to grab one with ties to a QB that might come here just go get one. Everette would be my choice as long as you are going to actually use him the gameplan. Going to get the TE in FA eliminates the need to draft one And on and on, but right now nothing is being done. Nothing
  3. And that fact regarding your thinking is what scares me to death that Ballard might feel the same way. Using your logic and reasoning let's examine this: David Carr. A lot of people on here wanted Colts to trade for Carr. He is a Raider. So obviously the Raiders Have a QB who is competent if not above average. Last year that Raider team, with Carr beat us and made it to the playoffs, so your logic would say that the Raiders should firmly believe that that team with a QB should be able to win more playoff games and maybe even a Super Bowl Then why did they go get Davante? Your logic is flawed, as is Ballard's if he truly believes what you do. Oh, and not to mention that every year is different so stop living in the past
  4. They won't and when that takes place everybody on here will say well i guess it's the draft or pryor and when that happens then i will say well then there go the wide receivers "in this stacked class" because the LT will be prioritized first by mister build the trenches Ballard and here, we go again. For the love of God can we not agree that this guy seriously is crippling our chances year in and year out here? This IS not about a QB. This is clearly a guy that would rather buy two plain hamburgers than a big mac and every 4th year he might splurge on a 6-piece nugget. Honestly, I like the guy from a far when he speaks but his actions are what's key not his words or demeanor anymore. If he seriously doesn't start doing things soon that actually give a resemblance of trying to better this team and not just getting by, he has got to go. End story. Everyone on here should understand that, including @NewColtsFan. Even the guys on sririus today mentioning the Colts with verbal shaking head emojis. This is getting dumber by the minute The Ju-Ju contract is mind blowing. 2.4 million guaranteed and Cox got 8.2mil guaranteed. Yall going to sit here and tell me Ali Cox is better than Ju-Ju? Ludicrous
  5. That's my thing. why does not having a QB stop you from going to get a LT? At this point it's like Ballard is hoping Fisher comes back for cheap. Seriously, what else could it be? Age? of Armstead and Brown?
  6. To add to @Jared Cisneros point, there hasn't been one QB in Indy since Luck that did not need weapons/extra help around them, yet in each instance the Colts did not focus on that side of the ball. Yes, drafted Pittman and Taylor. Big whoop They kept same lame TE's instead of trying to improve them. They kept same lame wide receivers or fan favorite WR's past their time. It goes on and on and here we are again. If the Colts are seriously thinking about bringing in any of these QB's you have to have weapons, or the move is moot. It's Deja-vu every year. If we have 7 picks this year, then 6 had better be on skill position TE's and WR's. No less than 6 Grab depth after camp from other team's scrap offs/cut downs after 4 of those 6 picks fail
  7. If that is the case, and I'm not saying it's not, then why continue to go after QBs that have no ability to bring you that security long term or if at all? Example: Brissett. Did anybody really think he was going to bring long term security? Rivers: How is this long term security? How is this even security albeit for one season which it was. No way anyone logical would think Rivers would be multiple years of security Wentz: This one to me was the only one so far that would even be close at finding security, however major flags Matt Ryan: Not traded for but if it turns out that way, how again is this security long term? This is Rivers 2.0 Mayfield: I'm biased here, so I will put that out there. Out of all who is left, Mayfield really is the only one who could bring you security. Like Wentz but with less baggage. Not saying zero baggage, saying less baggage more upside If you really look at the pattern here, it seems to me the complete opposite is true. The year Rivers came here you should have loaded up, not shied away from if you believed that team could win with loaded AFC, which we were all told Sorry, again I'm not buying your theory, it doesn't add up
  8. There really isn't NOW and that's the point. I would have taken a chance on Chark for 12mil as an example or I would have tried for James Washington or I would have given MORE money to Gallup than Dallas did. These three are worth the chance and zilch. I'm just not buying the QB or not having one stuff, I'm just not until Ballard himself literally says we wanted Ju-Ju offered him money but Ju-Ju said no because we did not have a QB. Until that happens I don't buy it. This all to me is this stupid little game Ballard plays every year. the game of waiting it out, instead of partaking all in an effort to get decent players on the cheap. players on the cheap that help but never get you over the top. it's an endless cycle of mediocrity
  9. Sheppard is way better than MVS, however Sheppard cannot stay healthy. He just can't. MVS is not what this team needs. This team does not need guys who 1/2 time get open, and 1/2 time catch the ball no matter if it's a 17 yard clip average when they do. This team needs constant production, constant getting open. Think back to when Colts had Marvin, Reggie, Clark, and Stokes. They were always open, if one wasn't the other 3 were. You get my point. This team, 3 are never open and one barely is. The ratio is upside down. You bring in MVS and that ratio stays the same
  10. Don't fret guys and girls. Ballard will eventually re-sign Pascal.
  11. because Adams refused to play under the tag and GB cant afford him
  12. They fleeced rogers. Watch him retire.... Then unretire and head to the Colts
  13. You left out one key element, the most important element IMHO. That element being that under no circumstances, will you ever accept Fried Chicken on a Monday when everybody knows it's been Meatloaf Monday ever since Moses took a dump...
  14. I think now might be a good time to catch a breath. I've been noticing a lot of posts and responses that are headed the way of potentially getting over heated. I for one am recently guilty of this today towards @GoatBeard and possibly @Scott Pennock I would personally like to take this moment to apologize. FOR NOTHING!! Pound sand!! No in all seriousness, I do apologize as I realize that your point of view is just how you feel and with that, I might add this: **I'm totally guessing here but I think sometimes on here the older guys/girls have different takes than the younger ones. Not in every situation but sometimes when you get older, and things were a certain way for a while you're happy just to be relevant and I think this perception bleeds over into this team. I only mention this based on most of the points of view from that way of thinking. Too much money We are just spoiled We should be grateful to have had Manning and luck Ballard is making sure this team is in the hunt year after year without overextending the franchise If we do "X", we can make the playoffs I could go on and on Truthfully, I kind of agreed with some of that for a longtime, but then I realized something. The NFL is changing and changing fast. It's actually happening in every facet of our world. Impatience I believe is the word. This isn't about doing "X" anymore just to make the playoffs. This is about doing "more than X" to win it all. To sum it up. For all of you who are still having a hard time breaking away from that old mantra remember this: Those of us who are getting really sick of that old mantra are not trying to break away completely or even have anyone still holding on to that way of team building to break completely away either. We are really trying to get a meeting in the middle, just to see if it actually works. We see evidence from other teams good and bad, but with us it's the same old stuff, i.e., the title of this thread and it really isn't working. It seems close sometimes, but there is a disconnect somewhere and it's NOT just about the QB Hopefully those of you who do not like some of our criticisms can understand that and see it from our view. We have seen it from yours going on 6 years now, you don't have to keep pounding you're point. We have heard it, we have lived it. You could say the same thing to us about pounding our point, however where you hearing it might be comparable to us hearing yours, you haven't lived our point of view. None of us have. We would just like to have a chance to live it for comparison sake. Ballard has yet to allow that to happen. that's why we are growing more unsettled. Anyway, regardless of what happens we should not really be infighting. Healthy banter is good, being cruddy is not as we are ALL Colts fans Again, sorry I got a little snippy/cruddy @GoatBeard and @Scott Pennock and whoever else. You be you my friends. -Peace
  15. So, the cash strapped Bucs signed Russell Gage. Cash plentiful Colts...
  16. To answer your question bolded YES. Guys like you use this same line EVERY OFFSEASON and yet every offseason we have the same results. Why not try something different and by different, I mean SPEND SOME CASH!! Who cares if we miss and give a player more money than you believe him to be worth. The production might ease that initial reaction, but guess what we will never know, because under this GM he NEVER spends cash.
  17. Yea, sure it is. Next, you're going to tell me that it's only going to take the Texans 25 years until they are great but not because they don't really want to win, no that perception would just be more exaggerations, all the while hiring David Culley and Lovie Smith... . Dude, just stop
  18. Again, you are so WRONG. The reason why it took the Bengals 30 years is because Marvin Lewis was there for 29 of them... Lewis did not care that much and neither did Mike brown. this new regime actually does, and they went out and made it happen
  19. nonsense... Ballard sat right there on Daitrich show or however you spell his name and said point blank this team needed playmakers... HIS WORDS, echoing what some of us fans have been saying for years at the behest of others... Ok awesome!! Where are they? **chirp, chirp** .... Still waiting.... Crickets... Oh there one is, oh wait it's Cox... A guy who has not had more than a secondary role at best, who has had at least three years to step up and be a playmaker and zilch Enough with the apologies. Enough with the cliches. Enough. I will admit, Ballard is a cool guy. I would love to have a beer with him but this isn't about being a guys guy. It's about being a competent GM that wants what is best for this team, not how it relates to his perception of the team should be. Seen the difference? His perception makes it all about him. This isn't rocket science nor is it hard to figure out. Stop enabling this mediocrity
