Good looked great, especially against Ngata, but he's gotta work on screens. He was giving them away before the play started to develop.

Completely agree. There are definitely things he could improve on, but for his first game he looked great. His anchor against big powerful interior pass rushers is great. Hopefully he can build on this game.

I would love to see the guy on the field before Inget worked up. Cromartie needs released. Now.

Why would you say that. Cromartie IMO was one of the bright spots on our defensive backfield. How many times did you hear his time called tonight? Not very many which means he was doing his job right. They tested him on a deep ball after he come back in from the sideline which he played perfectly. Really the most noticeable play he got beat on was on the final drive where he got turned around. It happens sometimes, but I would say releasing him would be a terrible idea.

  3. First couple drives were rough. Castanzo and Reitz both got beat in the 1st two drives. As the game went on the protection improved drastically. The biggest surprise to me was Good. He was fantastic in pass pro against Ngata. I am looking forward to watching him develop at guard beside Kelly. All in all I think the interior line was the best part of the protection today. The team will definitely have to jell as a unit to make it easier for them to pick up stunts and twists which was problematic at times today.

Do we know if there is a chance or not?  That's my point we love to play back seat doctor on this forum and honestly we are in no position to do that.  We just don't have the information to do that.

You are correct. We do not know if there is a chance or not, but based on the information we have already received on the injury is it unfair for a poster to question the time table? I think everyone should be able to believe what they want, and not be told they are wrong because the Colts' medical staff said so. I personally trust the medical staff to make the right decision, and Pagano's past indications to lean towards the side of caution. I just feel that the previous posters also have legitimate concerns about rushing him back.

What we heard was the Colts feared he was lost for the season, the MRI showed different clearly.  Fans took that fear to mean he was gone before the MRI.

Then it became two to four weeks.  This would be right at the two week mark.  The fact he could be good to go isn't unlikely.

its one thing to say hey I am concerned someone could get hurt, that exists on every play in the NFL.  It's another to say you don't like the fact that someone might play when there is nothing to show the Colts are rushing him back too soon.  If anything the Colts training staff has shown to be overly cautious with injuried players since Pagano got here.  I think if Mewhort has been cleared to play it's because he can.  Is there a chance he could get hurt?  Of course, but again that exist on every play in the NFL.

The poster said that if there is a chance for Mewhort to re-injure his knee that he thinks he should sit. That is not an outrageous statement like you are making it out to be. That fact that he feels he might be rushed back too soon is a personal opinion based off of what we know about the injury. He was given a 2-4 week time table in which he would most likely return. By him possibly playing by the 2 week mark in that table some might be worried that he might be rushing back. I think it is a legitimate concern. Like you said the Colts' medical staff should know better than us. However, due to the importance of Mewhort to our offensive line the thought of rushing him back is not a comforting thought for most posters.

Why is this guy not on the practice squad over a guy like Christopher Milton? He has much more potential than Tolzien and if he keeps improving we could have an enticing trade bait player on our hands. Just my two cents and for all I know they still are looking to add him to the squad soon.

I believe it is because Stephen Morris has not technically cleared waivers until 4pmET time tonight. If he clears waivers we can then add him to our practice squad.

I read that he flourished as a hybrid in New England, but struggled with the Rams, both were due to scheme. We'll see.

After looking into Ayers a little more I feel a lot better about the signing. I believe he is best suited for a 3-4 OLB rather than a 4-3 DE/OLB. Like you said it seems that in New England playing a hybrid role seemed to work the best for him.

Hopefully we have another move coming and it's Davis.  I don't know what to feel about Ayers.

Me either I had a much better feeling about looking at Davis. Ayers I believe has had opportunities and hasn't really been a star. I believe Davis is just waiting for an opportunity to gain more snaps in order to really show what he has to offer.

We signed Akeem Ayers.  Waived Neiko Thorpe

Man I was hoping Thorpe would stick. I am still not opposed to bringing in Davis and still waiving Ferguson. I think as many hands on deck as possible to rush the passer the better. I doubt it happens now though.

  10. All RBs metioned before are very talented backs. Fournette (LSU), McCaffery (Stan), Chubb (UGA), Cook (FSU), Freeman (Ore), Hood (NC), Perine (Okla), Gallman (Clem), Hurd (UT), Barkley (PennSt), Linwood (BU), Jackson (NW), Pumphrey (SDSU), McNichols (BSU), Connor (Pitt). There is a stack of very talented backs in college ball this year.

Personally I'll take Royce Freeman with our zone blocking scheme. Plus his 3rd down receiving ability out of the backfield is superior to most of the other backs.

Now back to the subject of Ryan Davis. I say we should sign him. He is a great situational pass rusher. He has beaten many good to elite LTs with very little playing time. I think his production could spike if he gains more of a snap count. I say we should cut a RB preferably Ferguson and place him on the PS to make room for Davis.

Maggitt would have been scoped up for sure. The Ravens did all they could to hide Ochi. They barely played him and he has only the shrine game vs real competition. They were not successful sneaking him to the PS.

I guess I was just more excited about Okine than most. I saw ZaDarius Smith out there. Smith is big 6'4 275. I would guess Earl is behind when it comes to coverage but he's only 26 seems coach able. He only played in 5 games last year according to rotoworld. Can't he go to the PS?

The Ravens had a shot to get him on their practice squad. I believe Ochi cleared waivers, so choosing a practice squad would be his choice. Either the Ravens didn't offer him a PS spot, or he personally chose the Jets spot instead.

  12. Toby Johnson, DT, Vikings

    Bobby Richardson, DT, Saints

Very surprised Richardson was cut. He started a lot of games for the Saints last year even as an undrafted free agent. I thought he was more than solid during his starts there. Toby Johnson I believe was an interior pass rushing nightmare for Minnesota this preseason.

Are we sure this guy is ok? He is an all pro guard that made just over 6 million per year and didn't have any trade value? That just doesn't add up.

Well he wasn't on the trade block for very long. If GB put him on the block earlier this year they may have had a shot to trade him. With it being this close to roster cuts many teams waited for him to be released rather than trading for him. The timing is what limited his trade value.

  14. I agree with Holmes and LeBlanc as both had good preseasons and was solid in college. If I remember right Holmes led all of college football in sacks last season.

    Younger players

    James Cowser (S.Utah) DE/OLB, Raiders

    Corey Lemonier (Auburn) OLB, 49ers

    Pierre Desir (Lindenwood) CB, Browns

    Jeremiah Poutasi (Utah) G/T, Titans

    Jamil Douglas (ASU) G, Dolphins

    Veterans

    1. Josh Sitton, G, Packers

    2. Geoff Schwartz, G, Lions

Sitton I believe should be signed as soon as possible IMO. The others should be worked out and considered for possible depth positions either now or at a later date.

By far the best addition to the team would be Sitton, but Schwartz would be a great fall back plan. Poutasi and Douglas are both 4th round picks in 2015 that had solid potential coming out of college. I believe they could still be developed into solid contributors and depth. Desir is a tall lengthy corner built for a press man scheme which might need a change of scenery. James Cowser was an animal this preseason for the Raiders. He absolutely lit it up against the Seahawks this preseason. Lemonier showed a lot of flashes for the 49ers, but never got much of an opportunity after Aaron Lynch was drafted.

I see the Raiders just cut James Cowser. I know people were talking about him during the draft as a pass rusher.

He was an animal in a lot of Oakland's preseason games. He lit it up against Seattle.

Not only that, but Cole has was one of the few bright spots on the D this past weekend.

With injuries at CB they'd be better off looking a K'Waun Williams.

Yeah I was also hoping to land K'Waun Williams, but the Bears claimed him off waivers. He would of been a very nice addition to our secondary. Personally I think he could of beat out Butler for the starting nickel spot.
