Pretty good special teams player for us. He isn't a guy I would want starting, but good at what he does.
-
This is not a signing I see Grigs making. He really is stressing getting younger. I am also starting to think he is going to let some of our big names walk this offseason and accumulate more comp picks.
-
Another low round tender to keep an eye on is Larry Donnell, TE, NYG. If we lose both Allen and Fleener he might be an option to pursue.
-
I guess you have to check out other alternatives other than retaining our own TEs.
-
With the Jags releasing Zane Beadles they now have a hole at LG, and could use a solid backup LT. I see the Jags giving him an offer he can't refuse.
-
That is one heck of a draft class. If we landed that draft I would be stoked. The only problem with that offseason IMO is that there wouldn't be enough done to fix our OLB core. We are in major need of an upgrade in our pass rush.
-
First two picks in the draft a great. I think Killebrew in the 3rd is just a bit high. If he was still on the board I would definitely take Karl Joseph in the 3rd over Killebrew.
I like the Jeff Allen and Prince Amukamara signings.
Wisnewski I am not a fan of. He was sub par in Jacksonville last season, and still has that long term injury he sustained in Oakland. I think he is a buyer beware. I would be more interested in Ben Jones for that reason.

Very good offseason and that draft class would be fantastic.

I wasn't really making a comment on Scooby's attributes and I agree he's not really a great comparison to Jamie Collins.
I was saying he would likely play that role in our D. He can play inside and outside depending on the package and situation.
Versatility wise yes I do think he could play both outside and inside. I wasn't a big fan of Wright, but after the combine I don't want him at all. All of his positional drills were hard to watch it was really that bad.

After the combine they posted on NFL.com that his interviews were supposedly shaky. I think he's a good guy though from my limited impressions.
Thanks for the reply. I searched it up and found the article, and yes multiple clubs said his interviews were shaky.

Next in line....
Trent Cole
D'qwell Jackson
Arthur Jones
Jonathan Harrison
Bjoern Werner
Darius Butler????
Nate Irving????
Just curious. What makes you think it is a given that we cut Jackson or Jones.

Interviews mean nothing. These guys aren't just coached on the field, but off the field as well. Teams came away impressed with Manziel in interviews as well. Talking to a guy doesn't prove whether or not he'll ever take ecstasy again. It's still a guessing game.
Look at Mathieu. First round talent who impressed in his interviews but still went in the third round. I'm not sure why Spence should go in the first. But even if he does, I see no reason why the Colts would risk the #18 overall pick. He's not even that good IMO. Just one of the better ones in a lackluster group.
Easy buddy don't kill the messenger. I was just posting what Matt Miller thought after talking to Spence and his family. It doesn't mean that I agree with taking Spence at 18. I just figured that if Spence did good talking to Matt Miller chances are he aced his combine interviews.

Just a thought, but with Freeman aging and Jackson already over 30 we need to get younger. Why not let Freeman walk and release DQ. We then would most likely have enough money to go after Trevathan. He is a young stud ILB with his prime ahead of him. If we could land Trevathan then draft Josh Perry in the 3rd I think we would have gotten younger and improved our ILB core. Sio and Irving are good players that have starting ability. ILB could then become a strength of our defense.
-
I am sure he is not considered a "horseshoe guy." Good player, but terrible member of the locker room.
-
— It's a big offseason for the Indianapolis Colts, and I'm told from a team source that they like Baylor nose tackle Andrew Billings a lot in Round 1.

Not to be a downer but I am not real sure I would trust Miller and his assessment of talent?
I really like Matt Miller. No I don't agree with all of his assessments, but he gives a different outlook than most analysts which is appreciated. I like to look at what many analysts are saying, and compare it to my own thoughts about various players.
What is it that you don't like about Matt Miller?
-
Looks like a good endorsement for Noah Spence. I am a big fan of Matt Miller, and if Miller came away from meeting with Spence with a positive outlook then I am sure the majority of front office personnel at the combine did too.
-
Definitely a 4-3 end. He doesn't have the athleticism to play rush backer IMO. He also gets pushed around in the run game. The worst knock against him is that he is a one year wonder. I am not as high on Nassib as many analysts are.
-
I see a lot of people acting like it is a given that we cut DQ. I don't think we are going to cut him. He has been productive, and a leader on our defense plus I expect them to keep at least one of our ILBs that have played in our scheme for familiarity reasons.
I think that they should consider cutting Jackson if it could help us land Trevathan. I think letting Freeman walk and cutting DQ to afford a young stud ILB would be a great trade off. Pair that with drafting a ILB like Josh Perry in the 3rd and I believe our ILB core would improve.
I believe that Johnson and Cole are pretty much gone.
Jones I believe stays. Grigson spoke very positively at a press conference about the thought of Art Jones coming back and playing significant time. He was excited about the thought of how deep our D-Line could be this next year.

If you don't think that all the cumulative hits our oline allows our quarterbacks to take plays a factor in injuries, both nagging and severe. Well then I have a bridge to sell you.
Never said that they didn't take a lot of hits in the pocket as they did get hit often. I am sure they had nagging injuries because of it. I am referring to the plays in which all three QBs were severely injured. A quarterback that hasn't took one hit in the pocket can get injured on a scramble the same as one that has taken multiple hits. I don't get how you can say that taking multiple hits in the pocket made it more likely for Andrew to get hurt on a scramble, or Hasselbeck getting hit out of bounds. Whitehurst was definitely not on the O-Line.

Wow, ONLY 3 quarterbacks injured. Our o-line should be very proud of themselves. Amazing.
Luck's first injury you can blame on the offensive line. Luck's second injury was on a scramble. Hasselbeck hurt his shoulder in the Jacksonville game when he was tackled late out of bounds by Telvin Smith. Whitehurst hurt himself on a scramble when he pulled a hamstring.
I don't think our line is great, but most of the injuries can't be pegged fully on them.
-
On a one year prove it deal yeah I wouldn't mind. It it came down to between him or Lowery I would take Lowery first.
-
Not a bad offseason. I wouldn't bring Ayers here though as he is pretty much strictly a left end in a 4-3 defense. I also prefer Allen over Fleener myself, but that is personal preference.

Has anybody heard any chatter on Courtney Upshaw? Just wonder with the change of defensive coordinators and him being a former player.
There is a lot of talk and rumors of him going to Chicago. Not a real reliable source linking him to the Bears just yet, but there is chatter.
Dolphins trade undisclosed draft picks for Byron Maxwell and Kiko Alonso

Hopefully they are going to use Maxwell in a cover 3 defense like he ran in Seattle. At least in that scheme he was pretty good. His last year in Philly was terrible, and I have a feeling that Miami is getting fleeced on this one. Howie Roseman is starting early on cleaning up Kelly's mess by dumping that terrible Maxwell contract. I am also guessing that with Miami eating Maxwell's contract it is going to make it even harder to retain Vernon.
