  1. Nobody was expecting the Colts to go all out in free agency,  not sure where your getting that from. We all know that building through the draft is smart. However, many of us are just upset we didn't address 1 or 2 needs in FA because everyone knows we cant address everything through the draft. We have several holes on this team.

We'll likely sign people who were cut like the aforementioned Chandler and Laurenitis. That way they don't affect our comp picks for losing Fleener, Freeman, and Lowry. It makes me vomit but i get the feeling Toler will be back for a cheap one year deal.

I was thinkIng the same thing about Toler as well, and I to threw up In the back of my mouth a bit haha.

  3. So many posters keep saying the best way to build a team is by being patient and building thru the draft. I agree with this aproach to a certain degree but we don't have a team with out a starting QB (Luck). Everyone keeps saying as long as we have Luck we are going to be competitive in our division, have a winning team blah blah blah... To this i also agree, but if we don't adress our O-line we will not have Luck a full season and if we do it wont be a good Andrew Luck, it will be a rushed / sacked, picked off Andrew Luck like weve seen many times before. If we go all out in the draft to fix our O-line then our D suffers. We do need to start relying heavily on the draft for long term stability, but we still need to do a little fishing in free agency if we want to stay at the top of our division IMO.

  4. Im scratching my head wondering how a Colts fan does not know who McNary is? After 3 years of being on the team and quite a bit of playing time here and there, sheesh.. But not a very good player, easily replaceable.

  5. If Grigson doesn't wake up and gt us some help (quality players) we are going to be in for a long season. Our division is going to be much tougher. I know i have said this in other threads but we CAN NOT address all our needs in the draft. Luck is going to get killed again and our defense is going to be in the bottom half of the league again. Grigson has stated a couple times that it taes a long time to develop OL out of college but it looks like he is going to rely be relying on atleast 1 to protect our franchise QB this upcoming season along with filling all the other obvious holes we have on our roster.

Just because you throw out a yearly money number does not mean these contracts were team friendly. You have the term of the contract. You have the guaranteed money. You have any dead cap money to consider just in case they didn't work out. Before free agency started Grigson said he wasn't going to hit free agency hard. Free agency just started and wont stop till the season starts. We have the draft. Maybe Grigson want to do some dealing in that? I have no clue? Most of the time there is a reason these players become free agents. There are either over priced, not playing to the contract or age. Some are over valued. Do you assume that Grigson didn't contact any of these players agents? He may have and couldn't strike a deal. Don't you think Luck's contract is going to effect how much money is spent on free agents? Just because you haven't heard a lot from Grigson does not mean anything. You will hear the news when a deal is done.

I understand your point and agree to some of what you are saying. I know we still have the draft but not sure why you keep mentioning it, I already stated that we CANT address all our needs in the draft. I would just like to see the Colts sign 1 or 2 starters (I know it can still happen) then we can fill the rest in the draft. About your first points about the free agents and numbers I posted, I know the details I just didn't want to make it a 5 paragraph write up going into every players exact details. All the players I mentioned did get good contracts both for them and their new teams and where well worth their pay IMO. Either way we aren't the GM so it's not exactly up to us were both rooting for the same and will continue to do so no matter what they do or don't do in free agency, I would have just liked to seen them get 1 or 2 as I mentioned. Here's to hoping we can at least sign Hayward!

Free agencyis not over. We have yet to  have a draft. I am not too sure about those team friendly deals you are referring to.

You wouldnt have resigned Lowery for the cheap 3 year deal he got, or took Travathen for 7 mil a yr, Jeremey Lane for 5.8 per, Brandon Mebane 4.5, Mitchell Schwartz 6.6,  jeff Allen 7 mil a yr, Tyvon Branch 4 a yr, Robert Ayers 7 mil a yr.? Thats just naming a few i believe were well worth there v contracts that I wouldve liked to seen the colts look Into, I know we couldnt have signed them all but 1 or 2 wouldvebeen nice.

I didn't see too much love for him around here (injuries).  Still, it's tough watching the spending spree of all of our divisional rivals...

Yeah and us not do anything to compensate. The jags D got alot better, and we do nothing to bolster our O-line. The Titans and Texans got better on O and we sit on our hands and do nothing to help make our D better to slow them down. I don't complain much, and am glad we didn't go fishing in the big pond by overpaying like our rivals. However, we have wayyy.. to many holes to fill, the draft alone wont get us there. Alot of very good players got very team friendly deals that I wouldve liked Grigson to have atleast kicked the tires on. Our lines and secondary are a mess. I don't get why we release players and ask players to restructure if we aren't going to use that money to improve our team. Sorry rant over...Bleed Blue!

  9. It's frustrating that we let a guy go that just had a great season with us for pretty much backup money. His deal with chargers is 3 years 7 million total!  That's cheap for the way he played for us!

I'm excited about Geathers, howevecomingthink lowery was u nderrated he  won a couple games for us, and switched momentum a couple times. Picks that he tipped, return int, etc.. Too bad he's going to want starter wages.

    Liked him though...

With all the other safeties on the market this year I dont think he eWill get top money. Guys like Illoka, Weddle, Gipson, Nelson etc. will be teams 1st choices. I would

be happy with him comming back for a couple years though.

  11. I think we should resign Lowery as well.He shouldn't cost much and put up better numbers than any free agent Safety on the market right. He started every game and the dude had 4 ints and over 70 tackles for us last yr. Underrated in my opinion.

We've got a pretty good idea of what we're going to spend on Luck....   but the two sides typically do a slow mating dance...    neither side wants to be the one to make the first move....    The Luck side doesn't want to settle for less...   the Colts side doesn't want to overpay...     so they move slowly, but carefully toward each other....

And it takes times....    Irsay and Grigson have both talked about getting it done before camp opens in July...   so, basically likely some time AFTER the draft and before camp....

    This will get done....

I know it will get done I would just like to know how much weve actually got to spend in fee agency. Everybody keeps saying we have 25+ mil to spend (before cuts) but i don't think they are taking into consideration that some of that has to be saved for Luck.

  13. Wisneiski was very bad last year, he had a couple botched snaps against the colts that probably cost them the game. If I remember correctly one of them was recovered in the end zone by Mathis. Harrison had a few botched snaps and we are all calling for his head...just saying. Id prefer we get one of the top centers in the 2nd or 3rd of the draft.

Here's a line I found in another story.....

"....when free agency opens at 4 p.m. ET Wednesday."

Now, I think that means the window opening for discussions,  but not signing."

I think Signings are three days later....   like the 12th....

If Superman sees this he'll likely confirm or correct.

Teams can start signing players Wednesday at 4.
