I would not be surprised that Luck as surgery on his ankle soon. Here is to hoping that he allows himself to heal and feel right and making a comeback. He said he needed to break the cycle of pain and rehab. Taking a year off could do just that.
If he does not comeback then i wish him nothing but the best. I have a signed Luck jersey in my office and it will stay there.
Joseph
I sold a colts signed football with Luck’s signature three days before he retired. Messed up big-time there lol

I would of been surprised if someone told me this was going to happen at the beginning of the offseason, but he has been running with the 3's. This is actually a good thing. Shows the we have faith in Geathers and Willis

Also depends on if he keeps snowboarding.....fricken *. Seriously disappointed. He's smarter than that. He knew better. I have ran my own business for last 12 years. I had to stop boing stuff I loved because I couldn't afford to be injured and out of work. Same thing only different lol. Have to keep your priorities on your priority, plain and simple.
Agreed, however his priorities are not all on just football. His wife, child, health, and other passions that allow him "to live the life he has wanted to live" is why he retired. Maybe snowboarding is part of that lol

Keep in mind, Luck was at time, healthy and ready to go, coming off his career best season. Ballard and Co would have been ran out of town at gun point if they'd traded Luck then. People need to stop thinking about that one.
Lets see how he does year 2 and 3. There's been a bunch of 1 year wonders throughout the league, the good ones string them together. Heck, even Tannehill had a great rookie season.
Point taken on waiting 2 to 3 years to see how Baker or any of last years rookie QB's do.
I'm pretty positive they offered those two picks, plus a player, before the 2018 draft when Luck was coming off his shoulder surgery and nobody knew what was going to happen. Obviously doesn't matter now.

I would pass on Mayfield.
Really? Mayfield is going to be a stud. We would have had the option to choose whatever QB we wanted anyways with the No. 1 pick

One: Luck's ankle still hasn't healed. I haven't seen many people talk about the fact that he must of been facing an upcoming surgery, several missed games this season, etc. He said it himself that he is in pain, and can't get a grip on what is. Regardless if he had retired or not; I doubt Luck was going to play for several games. Otherwise; he wouldn't have been struggling with the same issues as 2017.
Two: We were offered the Browns 1st and 4th Overall picks last year before the draft. Hindsight is always 20/20, but dang; We would be set with Baker & Denzel Ward! That's honestly one of the hardest things to get over!

The day they cut Peyton was pretty dark too but Andrew was the light at the end of the tunnel. Now we aren’t sure where the tunnel ends.
Exactly. It was dark, but I knew we were set with Andrew Luck. Our team is as good(not considering QB) as it has been in a long time. However, I do not want to be the Bengals. They consistently were are a tad bit above average, yet never could win a playoff game as the competition became to great.
Here's to hoping Brissett is the man!!
-
Two things:
First: Off topic, but you can't blame Ballard. He knows he has to have a QB that is mentally prepared to lead this team for the next decade to the "promise land."
Second: Does this change Colts football forever? How long does this take Colts fans to "forget" about. I've never felt as if the entire sports world of city of Indianapolis has been so down. Every conversation I came about had to do with Andrew, just a very hard pill to swallow!

Unlike two years ago when he played Brissett is now in an offense that is all about getting rid of the ball quicker. Right now with an improved team I am pretty optimistic about his chances.
Exactly. I honestly see Jacoby Brissett's ceiling/play style similar to that of Eli Manning. Manning won two Super Bowls without ever being a top 5-10 QB. We can do this, but we just begun a new era of Colts football.

I'm stunned and heartbroken
Yeah, I've never felt this way in my enemies life. It genuinely feels like finding out a close friend just got hit by a bus or something.

Here’s an interesting scenario, do we now look at making a trade offer for Zeke? Not that I am for it nor suggesting we should but is this a move one looks at now if your Ballard or do you stay the course
I was thinking the same thing. Transition to a ground and pound team. We obviously need to do something here.
-
I envision us going 7-9/8-8. It doesn't really put us in position to get one of the top QB's on the board. Jacoby is our best bet; at least for now. We have to hope that he continues to progress, and learns to get rid of the ball quicker.

I'm not too worried about Luck's injury, nor the others. However, what does worry me is how long we hold our players out due to precaution.
It also seems that we give more rest days than any other team in the league. Would you guys prefer us to continue to be pre-cautious or a little bit more stern on our players to get in a good training camp/practices how I prefer?
-
Walker seems like a great guy, but I have always thought he was a TERRIBLE QB, and is one of the worst 3rd String QB's in the league. His accuracy is bad, and I don't see the point in having him on the roster. Our defense only suffers playing against a college-level QB talent during practice.

I actually like Foreman quite a bit.
However, I'm starting to wonder if Ballard isn't quite comfortable enough with our top 3 RB's. We usually carry 3. Will Wilkins stick?
-
Mahomes, Brady, Rodgers, and Brees will all be in the top 10. Luck should of been a little higher.
-
Actually, we were super hot March-May. I think people just expect us to make the playoffs and go far with luck. If you pay attention, the Patriots hardly get mentioned either; yet they've been to the AFC Championship game/Super dang near every year.
-
I don't believe any team keeps 4 WR. Teams keep at least 5 WR on their roster at all times. Funchess will be our No. 2 or No. 3 WR this year. The coaches seemed to be giving off encouraging signs as well

Hypothetically, if she had it on Super Bowl Sunday, and we are playing: it would put Luck in an awkward spot lol

We have to be near the top of the list of teams that bring in FA's for workouts, and then not sign them. I do find it interesting. I wonder if the GM always makes the decision to bring players in, or if they will allow scouts, head coach, or position coaches to request a private workout?!

I've heard a lot of buzz this offseason about the confidence Ballard has in Jihad Ward. Does anybody see Ward as a potential stud at DT? I didn't know he was a high 2nd round pick 4 years ago. I am still surprised we didn't go harder after McCoy or haven't looked at Corey Luiget from SD.

Why 3? And, you forgot Hines.
Nyheim Hines
Marlon Mack
Spencer Ware
Jordan Wilkins
Jonathan Williams
I don't expect Hines to be going anywhere. Wilkins would be the most likely candidate to get cut, as it's a given Williams is probably gone now after camp.

One of them will have to be cut. I think Wilkins can still go to the practice squad.
But at that point, I would expect other teams to snag him off our practice squad. I guess we'll see!
-
Does this mean Wilkins and Williams will be cut/traded? I would expect us to only carry 3 RB's week 1.
Anyone else weirdly excited to see how this season goes

I see Jacoby as a more athletic Eli Manning. Eli has never been a top 5 QB in any one year he has played. However; he did win two Super Bowls with an inferior O-LINE than the Colts.
If Ballard can continue to build the Defense, I see the same potential with this Colts team.
