It really is hard to get an objective critique. Luck was not at his best, even with time to throw.

The beginning of the year started out with different players.

I hope the Colts take a good, hard look at what they've got, and improve line play with better coaching and scheme. In addition, adding two or three quality players to compliment what they have.

There is definitely room for improvement but I don't think they need to start from scratch. They have a decent nucleus to build upon.

Penalties were a problem this year.

Penalties & turnovers determined several games this past year. Cannot let that happen repeatedly every season, obviously. Pretty sure that'll be a major focus before next season with all our coaching changes.

As far as the OL, yeah, that stat kinda surprised me as well by ending up in the middle of the pack.

Still, that can mislead. All for a search of 2 OLs & C. Need linemen with agility/ZBS to go along with Castonzo & Reitz.

I just read that Williams was on the same staff as Monachino at Arizona state. So he is a guy Monachino and Pagano have a lot of familiarity with.

Here is the stuff as you mention, k. Cohesion & direction at all points from the entire coaching staff. That builds & breeds winning teams. Familiarity is a great start along with arrowed directives from the HC & down. I've known it as "systematic glue" over the years. And, it works extremely well.

The term "coaching trees" couldn't survive without it.

I just think it is ridiculous how the media prattles on about what an offensive juggernaut the Patriots were on Sunday and how anemic the Broncos were.  The Patriots scored 27 points.  The Broncos 24.

Yes sir, BH! I've gone on record here & a couple of other threads saying ... If Denver plays close to a mistake-free football game they have an excellent chance of winning this thing v. N.E. Brady has thrown 55 TDs & "26 INTs" in 30 Playoff games. He has been vulnerable. Peyton is certainly capable of taking advantage of this. So is their defense. If Denver's D shows up, it's gonna be a lot closer than most think.

    Go Broncos!

I think placing a team there full time wouldn't work. Competitively can you imagine taking a west coast trip as a team from London or visa versa etc. Yuck. Don't get me wrong...financially I have no doubt it could work...I mean the advertising money...the corporate purchasing power...there will be a big enough fan base I'm confident...but the a week in week out grind for that team traveling it would be tough.

One thing I thought would be a good thing was if the league went to 18 games and cut 2 preseason games and add 2 more divisional games which could be played on neutral sites. (divisional opponent would be in order of finishing last year 1st playing 2nd and 3rd etc etc) Then for those 2 extra games the AFC & NFC East could play games in say London/Europe...NFC/AFC North could play in Toronto/Montreal...NFC/AFC South could play say in Mexico and NFC/AFC West play in Japan and Australia. Also since there would be two more games you would have an additional bye week so no matter if it was a Thursday night game or a travel game they would have a bye after it. Not saying that's the way it should be done but to me if your going to force the game on a global scale you need to establish the game in more markets and try to garner some fan support.

Yep, dgambill. It opens up a wide array of scenarios that can & will be explored by the NFL once & if London joins the league. Like I mentioned, this could be a very, very long process of expanding into other countries & here in the U.S. The NFL will have to choose wisely it's projected path. That's for sure.

  5. 1 hour ago, Narcosys said:

who would they force to move.  it makes no sense from an economic standpoint for a team to move around the world when there are markets here for them.  it would need to be an expansion team imo.

And therein lies one of the problems that the league will face ... Travel. Once the London team gets established I believe the next step is to evaluate scheduling headaches before moving on to another expansion. Mexico & Canada are far more likely after England. Taking that into account, the aversion of travel problems only lie with London. That's a much more tangible & singular task than the other two Western countries. If done correctly, and I believe it will, scheduling all teams on a rotative basis becomes a lot easier.

And, that does not mean the United States cities are out of the mix as far as expansion. This is a long, long process for any new teams coming into the league here or abroad. To me at least, you would only encounter very limited travel problems for the time being.

The scheduling is quite feasible & far more of a non-factor if the NFL chooses the route that's laid out above.

He's tried the NFL for one whole year.      One.

In case you weren't sure -- and it's not clear that you are -- one is one more than none and one less than two.

The young man has time on his side....   he wants to see if he can play in the NFL.     He's hardly wasting his time trying for more than one year.

    Goodness gracious.......

Totally agree here. Duron Carter can play professional football. As to what league that is will be determined in it's own good time. And yes, one is less than two. haha I personally think he has other shots at NFL teams. We'll see soon.

The number one sport in the world is soccer. I think some of the owners have this notion the NFL can become what soccer is worldwide. I guess when that happens when a team wins a super bowl they will truly be the world champions. :dunno:

Think you hit the nail on the head, CC1!

Before Luck missed half of a season, I would have thought he would get a 6 year 150 million dollar deal (25 million per year).

I am not so sure about that now.

Low end is probably 20 million per year. High end is probably still around 25 million.

I would like to see us get more creative with Luck's deal though. I would like to see us offer him a 6 year, 105 million dollar deal - 100% Completely Guaranteed.

That's 17.5 million per year, and with it all guaranteed, we could evenly spread out the cap hit. No NFL player has ever had a long-term deal like it, so he would be the first.

Nice assessment, BlueShoe. I think what you've proposed here with all completely guaranteed money on a lower level is the direction of future contracts of the NFL. Especially franchised ones.

I know it's been quite the buzz for the last several years. Luck could possibly pioneer it. We'll see.

Of course, so that greedy owners can leverage their cities to build mega stadiums , like Kroenke. Poor St. Louis, 400 million in public funding wasn't enough, and they still owe on the current stadium. I hope they kick that bum out of the Missouri Hall of Fame. He put a crummy product on the field, then betrayed his own community he grew up in. Is there no honor left ? Apparently, not in the NFL.

Yep, OC! I hear ya. Whether anyone agrees with the move or not, we all knew that this would be an evitable move by the NFL. Creating more & more revenue is the name of the game (no pun intended). I've always been one for keeping American football here on it's own soil. But, when you think about it on a world wide venue it just may come down to adjusting & getting used to it.

There are a gargantuan amount of NFL fans all over the globe. Trying to serve that aspect by expansion is a great idea as far as revenue goes. The incorporation of that scenario lends credence to an inviting conglomeration of a much more appreciated league IMO. I know that it seems I've changed my thinking, and I have done that very thing. However, visionaries from the old AFL changed this league for the utmost greater good. It may be time for that to be used on a much larger consensus.

Change is difficult. It's hard. But, that shouldn't let our aspirations for a larger & better served league get in the way of expansion. Whether that's here or abroad.

This Dynasty dude saying if Peyton wins, it is like Dilfer, LMAO. If Dilfer JR beats Tom that will really be embarrassing. Peyton played Good and smart last week and made some good throws. Pats fans in general are so stuck up and obnoxious that they just think they have the only team that is any good. I cant wait for Peyton and Denver to wipe this team out.

Just a little perspective here for all.

Brady : 30 Playoff games. 55 TDs. 26 INTs. So yeah, he's got 4 rings with the help of his defenses & FG kickers. But, Brady is also vulnerable. Very vulnerable at times in the Playoffs.

If Denver plays close to mistake-free football & Peyton is just 80% on, Broncos can beat New England, and have a very good-to-great chance of advancing to SB 50.

He would be part of an ownership group.  He would have plenty of investors if that is something he wants to do

I agree, jvan! Peyton could do just about anything NFL within reason & feasibility. Not too many players enjoy that luxury after their playing career. Peyton strikes me as a guy who has to be around the game he loves so dearly. Whatever that entails after is playing days are over surely would be successful IMO. The guy has a savvy about him along with the NFL/ business genius to do just about anything that hits his fancy.

Broncos D is more hard hitting than the Patriots.  If the Panthers and Patriots play, I will find something else to do during that time.  Like chew aluminum or scratch my nails across a chalkboard.  Both of which would be more enjoyable to me.

"chew aluminum"? haha  Nice. I like that. Hahahahahaaaaaa. :)

Found the ESPN poll again,  looks like its shifting

    http://espn.go.com/blog/arizona-cardinals/post/_/id/19057/vote-which-super-bowl-matchup-would-you-most-like-to-see

But dang, the whole world wants to see Panthers Patriots

As of now, it's 35% for Pats v. Panthers and 27% Cards v. Broncos. (these are the front-runners)

I think most want to see a physical & hard-hitting Super Bowl. Personally, I get it. However, the Patriot replay of getting there is getting old. Newton & Brady are more popular than Manning/Palmer to the younger audience. So, there's that.

Not a problem!!  We have some good guacamole.....homemade salsa....and cold beverage in the fridge :)

Even though we may be watching NBA Development League basketball.  HA HA!

Not surprising. You & Radiogirl strike me as people who would give the shirts off your backs to help out anyone in need.

And, that reminds me of something that I've never got around to until now, Brent. I remember some  15 months back when I first joined the forum. I wrote my first post. You were the only "positive" response I received. I'll never forget that. And, I thank you publicly right here. Most tend to shy away from rookies, newbies, et.al. for fear of who they may be. Not you guys.

You both made me feel welcome & an equal fan. Again, I thank you for that! :)

    No.    You don't want this.

Because if Pat should ever be hurt,  then you need TWO players to replace him.

It's one thing if he gets hurt during the week.    Then, maybe you can scramble for two.

But if gets hurt during the game,  then you need to scramble for two replacements.

It's a disaster waiting to happen.

We WILL re-sign Adam.      Make book on it.

Yes sir. Cutting your nose off to spite your face is never a good idea. Someone told me that. :)

Please explain how hating Denver more than New England as a Colts fan qualifies as common sense. Seems like personal taste to me.

Sure. "Personal taste" can contain anything. Even masochistic ones. Like ColtsFans rooting for Tom Brady & the New England Patriots.

  17. God Speed, "Lefty-Lou"! You sure gave me the thrills of my youth, along with all the other great Colts of that era. No need to worry about Super Bowl III anymore. Your re-runs in glory are all good. Rest in all of the Lord's magnificent splendor.

I was floored when I heard the news story that told us he passed away.

He was a devout Christian Man and he is basking in the glow of our Lord and Savior,

God's time is not our time and his plans are not our plans.

His story could lead thousands to salvation so this is a movie I will be seeing and recommending.

Heaven welcomed a saint on April 28th 1999. He will be forever 22

Almost lost a tear watching that trailer. But my Man card is very much intact brothers

Amen, to that brother! I AM that I AM! Tell them, I AM!
