  1. 1. Luck must set out the entire year and let his body heal. It is not safe to play behind our offensive Line

    2. Hopefully get number 1 pick which we can trade for multiple picks.

    3. We MUST fix the offensive line. 1st Pick is a Left Tackle. If he turns out to be good then AC goes to RT. Get at least one more Guard either high draft or Free Agent.

    4. Rest of draft on DEFENSE.

    5. Pagano MUST go.

Tolzien actually threw the ball down the field several times and moved well in and out of the pocket, unlike the first two games. He was also accurate to the second level, with the exception of the pick.

We just have to disagree.  He did not attack down field and moved poorly in the pocket.

  3. Tolzein did not play well. He played about the same. Morris was clearly better. Tolzein cannot throw the ball down field and he is very stiff in the pocket. His stats look better than what they are because of the Moncrief catch and run.

One player that did look good was Good. He did a good job at Right Guard and a decent job at Right Tackle.

  4. Worst than that I am an attorney. By the way did not mean to imply that the players or coaches are tanking as that would make zero sense. Maybe tanking is to strong of a word but I do believe that upper management and ownership have agreed to accept this year as a lost cause based on your present situation.

The other problem is that I have watched the Dallas game about 10 times and I see a team that really could not compete.

  5. Let's look at the evidence

    1. It is apparent that the Luck will be back talk from Irsay and Ballard was at least a ruse for the early part of the season and maybe longer.

    2. Despite Luck's long term recovery we have intentionally not brought in a QB that would help us compete

    3. We kept Pagano for one more year so as not to place a new coach in a no win situation without a healthy Andrew Luck

    4. We signed a lot of players to one year basically tryout deals.

    5. We recognize that we need better talent which come from drafting early

It seems to me that Irsay and Ballard have agreed to a one year reset plan. Use the one year to evaluate what we have and then start over next year. The decision on Pagano has been made and I think that Chuck is finally starting to figure that out. If Luck goes on the PUP list to start the season then we know the above is true.

  6. I have reviewed the game film. Since I have coached football I know enough to be dangerous. I thought that the offensive line did fairly well when they knew what to do. What I do not understand is our blocking schemes. We allow at least one man to come free on every running play. We are not being over powered. We block who we are actually attempting to block but when you allow the free man the play gets blown up every time. Dallas on the other hand blocks everyone unless that are running a sweep in which they will ignore the backside defender. The perfect example was the draw play to Mack. We allowed the left DE to come free on a "delayed" handoff. If we block him (the TE released) then Mack would have had a big run as the blocking in front of him was good. However the untouched defender grabbed Mack as soon as he got the ball. Same problem with pass blocking. They seemed to do ok when they knew who to block but that is not always the case. AC was beaten by a rookie. However when you look at the play he had a TE beside of him and he acted as if the TE was going to be making the block. The TE released and AC did not move until the rookie was past him.

I really see it as more of a coaching problem then a personnel problem.

  7. I love everything about Frank Gore BUT he is old and slow for an NFL running back. Did you all not think that he looked really slow. The NFL is just to fast. I cannot see him being kept over the younger backs if you are keeping the best players. We have to start building with younger, faster players.

Philbin has a history of great O-Lines - Packers and Dolphins. The O-Line situation could stem from other problems. There have been a lot of injuries and there are some new players/developing players on the line.

If you look at Philbin's resume he coached the offensive line as THE offensive LIne coach for ONLY I year. That was in 2006 in Green Bay and they did not set the world on fire.  Somehow a rumor got started that Philbin was some great offensive line coach in the past. It is just not true and it shows with our line.

So, if a player is coached to protect the backside and doesn't do it, it's coaching? At what point are the players held accountable?

If a team runs a bootleg and we have no backside contain or if a back cuts back and we have zero backside contain that is coaching. Either the players are not being taught, not getting it or they are being told to ignore the backside and just flow to the ball. All coaching. If a player does have backside contain and misses a tackle then that is on the player.

    Marlon Mack.

Yep. Joe Philbin is a great O-Line coach.

I don't know how anybody comes to that conclusion. Our offense of line consistently asked like they don't know what to do. They are out of position they miss blocks as if they don't anticipate what's happening. They can't pick up looping defenders.  Behind our line backing unit this is our worst coached group.

I was at the game in Jacksonville in '06 when the Jags had 375 yards on them. All seemed lost as far as a SB but Dungy said they just had to work on technique. How did that work out?

I know that was a different team but the point is, things can be corrected.

I think it's good for them to see where they have to get to by playing a great Oline.

Maybe what we saw tonight was their best, maybe they'll improve after playing together, as the Cowboy's line has, maybe not. We shall see....

We have been working on the run defense with this staff for 5 years. Not going to fix it by next week. Are backside technique is terrible. All coaching.

  12. I agree that Gore will not be cut BUT if we go into the season with a 34 year old running back as our true starting running back then that is a big problem.

  13. If Gore makes the team this year it is not good news for the Colts Running backs. He was a great player. He is now simply too old to play Running back.

  14. WVU gave up 25 QB sacks last year. Harris is known to take plays off. I observed this often when Missouri played against WVU.

    Weaknesses

Found himself too easily engulfed by size this season. Gives ground on the edge and can be widened out of his run fit. Hands must get better at point of attack. Needs to punch and own the point. Rides on blocks rather than shucks them. Lacks desired glass-chewing mentality against the run. Plays with slow reaction time to counters and misdirection and can lose track of the ball. Needs earlier shoulder turn as rusher to prevent early pass sets from punching him as squared-up rusher. Slow to activate his counter spin back inside. More violent approach with hands at top of his rush would help grease the edge. Productivity dropped after struggling with new defensive scheme.

Would certainly draft him in the 3rd.

  15. There has been a lot discussed about whether the Colts should take Cook if he falls that far because we need defensive help. I agree that if a top notch defensive player falls then you take the defensive player but I don't think you take a serviceable defensive player over the higher ranked RB if he falls.

By example lets say that Elliott and Ridgeway are in this years draft and both are available at 14/15. Ridgeway is doing a good job at New England but I would select Elliott because his impact on the team would be greater than Ridgeway. I would even take Elliott over Collins although the debate gets a little tighter based on how Collins has played for the giants.

Which would you take. Elliott or Ridgeway?

  16. I don't understand why anyone would want us to take the worst player over the best player when drafting so long as it is in a position of need. We need RB, OLB, ILB, C, S.  So when it comes to our pick we need the best player available that fits one of the above spots. I agree that if Cook is available and a defensive player is available and they are ranked basically equally you take the defensive player. Several defenders I would take over Cook. They include Garrett, Allen, Adams, Lattimore, Thomas, Foster and Barnette. But if they are gone I would certainly take Cook/Fournette over Peppers, McDowell or Williams.
